Youth Alive Foundation Africa, The Youth-focused NGO committed to building youth leadership and participation to drive change in Africa hosted an Employment Extension Service (E2S) Training for women in Akwa Ibom State.

The training held in Uyo, featured job readiness, interview preparation for women with digital skills and capacity development for women entrepreneurs.

The Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution with support from UNESCO has begun a dialogue and training workshop across southern Nigerian states for women on peacebuilding and conflict resolutions. Its first was held in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital on Friday 15 December, 2023.

This project followed the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1 on women, peace, and security, which was adopted unanimously by the UN Security Council on 31 October 2000.

These tips were stated at a media briefing in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, with a call to civil society organisations to participate in the peace-building process, backed by a policy framework.

In a bid to curb the menace of Child Trafficking and Abuse in Akwa Ibom State, Youth Alive Foundation Africa on September 13, 2023, played host to a one-day stakeholders and the media dialogue in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.

According to a report by the National Agency on The Prohibition of Trafficking (NAPTIP), Akwa Ibom State has the highest cases of child trafficking and labour in Nigeria.

The dialogue was well attended by civil society organisations, members of the Akwa Ibom State Taskforce on Human Trafficking, Heads of various security agencies and government representatives.

A youth-led organization based in Akwa Ibom State, Youth For Change Initiative has said that a peaceful election Is the responsibility of every citizen and stakeholder.

The organization stated this on Thursday at a press briefing to intimate the media and the public about its Election Violence Prevention and Mitigation (e-VIP) project being implemented in eight (8) LGAs in Akwa Ibom State, with funding from PIND.

The Press Briefing which was held at Uranus House, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State after a Multi-Stakeholder Forum activity themed “Averting Violence Related Challenges in the Electoral Cycle” sought to inform the public on the experiences, learnings, and practices that could be entrenched towards a violence-free election process in Akwa Ibom State.

Youth-focused Civil Society Organizations under the aegis of the Youth Development Cluster have faulted the manifestos of the leading gubernatorial candidates in the forthcoming governorship election in Akwa Ibom State.

At a briefing in Uyo on Thursday, the group led by its project lead, Mr. Ndifreke Patrick, stated that after careful analysis, the manifestos lacked sustainable development plans for youths in the State.
