Why Agbarha Ward should produce the next LGA Chairman for Ughelli North : PDP Elite Forum writes Oborevwori

HIS EXCELLENCY,
RT HON ELDER SHERIFF F.O OBOREVWORI
THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF DELTA,
ASABA

SIR,

RE: DELTA LGA POLL: WHY AGBARHA WARD SHOULD PRODUCE THE NEXT COUNCIL CHAIRMAN OF UGHELLI NORTH LGA

As we prepare for the forthcoming council election in the state, it's paramount to put forward at this time, political /power balancing of the various wards in Ughelli North Constituency 1 as regards political appointment.
Your Excellency sir, it will not be out of point to say, this election is a preparation for the 2027 general election and there is need for power balancing of all areas either through appointment or elective.

Today, Agbarha ward has not been treated fairly in terms of appointments despite our huge votes contribution to the party in all elections. We have always produced the highest votes in all elections, the records are there for verification, yet we are the least considered ward for appointments.

Below is the PU and voting strength of the wards in constituency 1
1. Agbarha ward 42 PU with 23,741 votes
2. Ogor ward 24 PU with 13,338 votes
3. Orogun ward 1 15 PU with 9,310 votes
4. Orogun ward 2 31 PU with 18,279 votes
5. Evwreni 18 PU with 9,860 votes.

As at this moment, no major appointment has been given to Agbarha son or daughter despite producing the highest votes in the last election.
Orogun has DESOPADEC commissioner, Ogor has the Executive Director Finance and Administration, Delta State Board of Internally Generated Revenues, Evwreni has the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) while Agbarha with the highest votes is given a Special Adviser. This will have an adverse effect on in terms of funding and prosecution of 2027 in Agbarha ward and on the people of Agbarha in the areas of empowerment.
Without mincing words, we do not have any leader with the financial strength to take care of our people now and during elections. Agbarha people deserve better appointments to commensurate our contribution to the party, your excellency.

To balance the equation of power distribution sir, there is a need for Agbarha ward to produce the next council chairman.

*CHOICE OF A CREDIBLE CANDIDATE*

According to the political history of the state, PDP has never won Ughelli North in all governorship since 1999 despite having prominent leaders. While many factors could be responsible for it, our choice of candidate for the No 1 citizen seat of the LGA must be bold with political sagacity, vibrant with political exposure and more importantly, someone with wide and good interpersonal relation with the people, especially the youths who are the engine room of election, who can mobilize the entire LGA during election Your Excellency, we can't afford to lose Ughelli North with the highest number of registered voters in 2027, there is need for a credible candidate for the No 1 seat of the LGA who will be able to do the needful during election in 2027.
Your Excellency sir, it's only in Agbarha ward, you can have such an individual with the qualities as analyzed above from the long lists of those vying for the chairmanship position.

We know you as a man of equity and fairness and a lover of youths as displayed in your cabinet.
It's on this premise that we write this letter to passionately appeal to you sir to consider Agbarha ward for the chairmanship position, for even and political power balancing.

Signed

Chief Moses Ogegere

Ughelli North Council Chairmanship: Youths stage ‘Million Man March’ in support of Lucky Ofomukoro’s aspiration

The aspiration of Comrade Lucky Olerhimena Ofomukoro to occupy the chairmanship seat of Ughelli North Local Government Council in Delta State on Saturday, May 4, 2024, received a big boost as youths of the area staged a Million Man March in support of the actualisation of his ambition.

The march by the youths under the banner of Comrade Lucky Olerhimena Ofomukoro Support Group through major roads and streets of Ughelli town, headquarters of Ughelli North Local Government Area comes two days after the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC) officially released the time-table and schedule of activities for the conduct of local government elections in the state slated for Saturday, July 13, 2024.

Comrade Ofomukoro, who is aspiring for the chairmanship position of Ughelli North Council is from Agbarha Ward 1, Unit 10 in Agbarha Otor Kingdom of Ughelli North Local Government Area, a graduate of the Delta State University Abrake, a former Organising Secretary of PDP in Agbarha ward and a one-time member of Delta State Waterways and Land Security Committee.

He is being widely tipped to clinch the PDP chairmanship ticket and go on to emerge victorious at the local government polls in July based on what some political pundits have described as Comrade Ofomukoro’s loyalty and commitment to the PDP for years as well as his humble nature and grassroots politics.

During the Million Man March, the youths drawn from the different Wards of Ughelli North said Comrade Lucky Ofomukoro stands out among those aspiring for the chairmanship of the local government council.

They particularly recalled the rare display of loyalty by Comrade Ofomukoro when he staked his life to ensure the victory of the PDP as the party’s Collation Agent at Agbarha in the 2023 general elections.

The youths urged leaders of the PDP in Ughelli North and other critical stakeholders in the area to settle for Comrade Ofomukoro as the preferred chairmanship candidate of the party in line with the recent position canvassed strongly by the Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori wherein he charged PDP leaders and stakeholders to present popular candidates in the forthcoming local government elections in the state.

Among those who spoke to newsmen during the Million Man March was Comrade Emmanuel Omas Esamagu from Ughelli North Ward 3/7, Unit who said, “We are on this million man march to support our brother, Comrade Lucky Ofomukoro because we deemed it fit to support him because he is capable of handle and govern the local government.

“He is a good man, he is tested, and that is why we deemed it fit to support him, we know he can handle the affairs of our local government, and he has proven himself in all capacity to be amongst the top with any rival.

“The support from his Agbarha community, Ughelli North and Delran in general shows that he is capable of delivering dividends of democracy to the grassroots.

“He is a trustworthy fellow, truthful and honest and if our leaders will allow him to govern Ughelli North, he will try his best as a responsible man.”

Mr Emaya Oghenevwarhe from Ughelli North Ward 1/5, described the chairmanship aspirant as a man who is known for his loyalty to the PDP and respect for everyone he comes across.

“Anytime you call on him he is there for you. He was a one-time Security Chairman in his community Agbarha during which he ensured there was peace. He is a very vibrant young man who can govern Ughelli North Local Government Council,” said Oghenevwarhe.

Comrade Ubini Ufuoma Isaac from Ughelli North Ward 1, Unit 10 in Agbarha-Otor said, “Comrade Lucky Ofomukoro has paid his dues for the PDP and it is time to reward him with our votes.

“In the last elections, he delivered beyond every expectation, staked his blood and life to defend our party the PDP and it is good we replicate this by voting for him in the forthcoming elections, he is popular among the old and young.

“He is a man to the grassroots and because of his popularity, the youths, elders, leaders are behind him because he is reliable.

For her part, Mrs Vivian Gborogen noted that the antecedents and pedigree of Comrade Lucky Ofomukoro speak volumes hence the women are solidly behind him to actualise his chairmanship aspiration.

She said, “Comrade Lucky Ofomukoro has the capacity, the voltage to lead the people of Ughelli North and that is why we are solidly behind him.

“He is not that type man that would divert public funds to his personal pocket, and we know for sure that when he becomes the chairman, he will empower the women.”

Bumpy roads, rain and sun. The high planes to the low beds of the river you took me like your own son. Even when detractors tried to talk you out of carrying me along you shunned them and gave this wee Sapele brought up a chance at your high state of relevancy.
