A tout in a Kenyan park, was on Thursday, November 3, arraigned before a law court for insulting a female minibus driver.

George Kihiu Karanja who was accused of calling Catherine Kabura Wangari a pr******te at Tom Mboya Street commercial bus stop, pleaded guilty to using abusive words in a public place with intent to provoke a breach of peace.

In the charge sheet filed before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi, it was alleged that the suspect had on October 22, 2022, used abusive words on Kabura namely "malaya, mea ndevu".

It was alleged that he used the abusive words after approaching the complainant, asking her to drive away as where she parked belonged to another minubus driver.

Even though she complied to this, the accused person followed her and opened the driver's door, pulled her out, and started insulting her.

When two police officers from the traffic police turned up at the scene to restore normalcy in the area, George fled.

After being arrested and arraigned in court, the accused person pleaded guilty while also claiming that the economy is tough, and he was afraid the complainant might affect the movement of his minibus.

He pleaded with the court to forgive him, saying that he committed the offence out of anger and will not repeat the same in the future.

George further revealed that he has since apologised to the complainant, but her boss declined to have the matter settled out of court.

The magistrate detained George until November 7 and directed the probation department to file a pre-sentencing report when the court will issue the sentence.

It’s disrespectful to mention Funke Akindele in my presence, Tinubu says at campaign rally

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, has said it was disrespectful to mention the name of the deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos, Funke Akindele, in his presence.

Tinubu made this known at a political outing where his supporters sang a campaign song, comparing Funke Akindele to the incumbent governor of Lagos and candidate of the APC in the 2023 election, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

However, Tinubu cautioned his supporters against mentioning Akindele’s name in his presence, describing it as disrespectful and an insult.

“Don’t even bother to mention her name in my presence. It is an insult. It is disrespectful,” the former Lagos governor said.

I’ve been called to be one of God’s ministers — Yul Edochie

Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has revealed that he has been called to become a minister of God.

He made this known in a video shared via his YouTube channel, Yul Edochie TV.

In the video, the actor claimed he had received the instruction long ago, without taking steps to actualise it. He noted that the time had come for him to take steps, as the calling had become “very strong” on him.

Edochie said, “I have a calling to be a preacher of God, to be one of God’s minister (sic), to preach the word of God through words and actions,” he said in the video.

I’ve had this calling a long time ago–actually, many years ago. But, I’ve always felt maybe the time hadn’t come, the time wasn’t right. But now, it’s very strong. I feel the time has come.”

Edochie also added that God had given him fame so that he could eventually use it for the ministry.

“God has blessed me in this life. By God’s grace, I’ve become one of the biggest, one of the most celebrated actors in the continent of Africa. God has taken me to a very high point in my career.

“I’m starting to realise God lifted me as an actor to where I am so that I can become one of his ministers,” he stated.

Alleged Asault: The Inspector-General of Police, USMAN BABA has directed the Commissioner of Police in Osun State, OLALEYE FALEYE to investigate the alleged assault on woman Inspector OLORUNSOGO BAMIDELE by her Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) in the State.

The IGP’s directive comes after a viral video showed BAMIDELE accusing her DCO of assault and blackmail.
BAMIDELE in the video alleged that her senior colleague named AJAYI MATHEW had approached her for an affair but after she refused, MATTHEW, started blackmailing and assaulting her.

In a statement Force spokesperson, OLUMUYIWA ADEJOBI, said, they will await the report of the investigation from Osun State Police Command before necessary actions are taken.
