I heavily grieve for those who have lost their lives or been injured during the period of these protests. My deepest sympathies go to their families and loved ones for none should have been made to pay such a dear price. My career as an active politician spans nearly three decades. In that time, I have seen many things as Nigeria has struggled, sometimes against itself, to undertake the often painful yet inexorable push toward democratic government accountable to, and protective of, the people.

Though this journey, I have traversed the landscape of human experience. Having been as a political prisoner during our struggle for democracy but also having the singular honour of serving this state and its people as governor, I have known highs and lows, seen both the good and the bad of things.

But the events of the past few days have been extraordinary in a most dire sense. Only time will tell if we have the collective wisdom and requisite compassion to learn the proper lessons from these events that we may yet steer toward a better, more just Nigeria. Despite the tumult we now see, I believe with all my heart that we will meet the current challenge.

Here, let me directly address the sharp point aimed against me. I have been falsely accused of ordering the reported deployment of soldiers against peaceful protesters that took place at Lekki on 20 October 2020. This allegation is a complete and terrible lie. I did not order this or any assault against anybody. I would never want such a vile thing to happen nor did I have any prior knowledge about this sad event. It is my firm belief that no one should be harassed, injured or possibly killed for doing what they have the constitutional right to do in making their contribution to a better, more equitable society.

As a political figure, I am accustomed to people attributing to me all manner of indiscretions of which I have no knowledge and in which I played no role. I have usually ign

A message from the Nigerian Youth

Over the last few days, young Nigerians all over the country have come out to peacefully protest in the thousands, demanding an end to police brutality and the disbandment of the “Special Anti Robbery Squad”. On Sunday, The 11th of October 2020 the current DG of police released a statement claiming they were disbanding/dissolving SARS as a unit.

First, this is nothing new. In 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2019, the same proclamations and declarations were made and nothing changed. These officials remained on the road; ra**ng, beating, kidnapping and stealing from young Nigerians.

Second, there is to be no reckoning according to the plans this administration has. All former SARS officials will be redeployed to other existing departments. That is a gross insult to the very many Nigerians who have died at the hands of these criminals. We demand a public inquiry, investigation and hearing into every death, and every act of brutality. If the police cannot hold itself to account, it does not deserve public trust and funding.

Thirdly, PEACEFUL Protesters across the country have been brutalised by the police; arrested, tear gassed, sprayed with water cannons, beaten and over 10 young Nigerians have lost their lives. Our protest has both been peaceful and respectful and well within our constitutional rights.

We are not criminals. We are not area boys. We are not hooligans. We are Nigerians who are FED UP and have decided we will do something about it. We inherited a broken system from you, but we want better for the generation after us.

Young people know that SARS is rotten fruit of a diseased tree. We want restitution, changes in recruitment and reform. We want investigations into crimes committed by police officials.

We also want a psychological evaluation & retraining (by an independent body) of all disbanded SARS officers before they are redeployed. We want an increase in police officers salaries so that they are adequately compensated f

Young Nigerians' lives are worth more than a few hours of discomfort in traffic. If you want the protests to stop, start making calls. Call your boss, your local government chairman, your state house of reps member, your federal house of reps member, your senator, your governor, your government friends and enemies. They know what to do. We will not stop till our demands are met.

*PASTORS! Pls let's make this write-up to go Viral.*

THIS IS WHAT MOST PREACHERS HAVE NOT TOLD US WHENEVER THEY PREACH ABOUT THE PRODIGAL SON.

I have heard so many messages preached on the altar about the prodigal son (Luke 5:11-32) but last Sunday's sermon by a visiting priest in my parish was different.

As I listened to the homily, I learned some things that boosted my curiosity and left me with a serious concern…

My concern is that whenever the story of the prodigal son is narrated, the emphasis and focus is always centered on the prodigal son himself…

According to the Priest, we have spent so much time analyzing the prodigal son's errors that we have become blinded to the errors of another major character (individual) in the same story…

The elder brother to the prodigal son…

If you look at the church today, you will see a lot of Christians who fit into the description of the elder brother of the prodigal son…

They appear zealous, holy and committed but when you take a closer look at their lives, you’ll begin to spot similar errors…

The Priest had just four (4) questions for the elder brother of the prodigal son…

He said any where we see him, please help him ask the "elder brother" these four (4) questions:

1. Where were you, when your younger brother was making the terrible decision he made?

2. How come you never made any attempt to go look for your younger brother to know how he was coping after he left the house?

3. Why were you angry and bitter that he returned and that his return was celebrated?

4. Why were you giving your father reasons why he shouldn’t have celebrated the return of your brother?

A Christianity where the errors and fall of a fellow comrade becomes an opportunity to rise is evil…

A Christianity where we try to gain favor and prove loyalty before authority by discrediting or running down a fellow brother is satanic…

A Christianity where we neglect and abandon our wounded brothers is demonic…

A Christianity where the strong does not uphold the weak is satanic…

A Christianity where the fall of a fellow brother/sister becomes a topic for gossips and discussions is evil…

A Christianity where we prefer discussing the weakness of a fellow comrade behind him/her to approaching and correcting him/her in love is evil…

A Christianity where we pray for a fellow brother/sister to err or fall so we can occupy his/her position is barbaric…

If you see Generational Impact smoking cigarette on the street after he has preached on facebook, will you reach out to him in love and intercede on his behalf…?

If the fall of a fellow comrade does not touch and compel you to intercede on his behalf, then you are still far from God…

Enough of the hate in church…

Enough of plotting against each other…

Enough of analyzing and amplifying each other’s weakness…

We will do greater exploit as a team and as a unified body…

I am not your enemy, the devil is…. My fall should not bring joy to you…

Let us uphold each other and show love to the wounded in our midst…

Supreme Court Governor of Imo State Governor Uzodimma Rejects Edo Governorship Election Results

—Says INEC Was Compromised By Opposition

—Assures APC Will Get Judgment At Tribunal

The Governor of Imo State and the Deputy Chairman of the APC Edo State Governorship Campaign Council, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has rejected the results of the Edo State Governorship Election.

The Governor made this known when he arrived the Imo State Government House Owerri on Sunday morning after the election which held on Saturday, 19th September, 2020.

Governor Uzodimma disclosed that the entire process in Edo State was marred by irregularities from officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) who sabotaged the system, making it difficult for the APC votes to count.

Governor Uzodimma went on to describe the conduct of INEC officials in the Edo Governorship Election as 'shameful'.

The Governor also thanked the Governorship Candidate of the APC in Edo, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, for his resilience and doggedness.

He also assured that the APC is already gathering evidence to proceed to the Election Petition Tribunal any moment from now, confident that the party will get judgment in due time.

Governor Uzodimma urged all APC faithfuls and party supporters to remain calm and law abiding, noting that what happened in Edo State is a sabotage to our hard-worn Democracy in Nigeria.

The End of Godfatherism Has Come in Nigeria

There is a new dawn in Edo State, and the hard-won victory of Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki is not just a victory, but a Declaration of Independence from the anti-democratic forces of godfatherism and militarism. No victory could be sweeter than this, and I heartily congratulate the Governor and the good people of Edo state for their resilience in the face of the forces arrayed against them.

Edo has a rich history as the centre of Black civilisation, and to this, she is adding a new record as the bastion of Nigerian democracy. This double whammy of ancient and modern glories is a testament to a people who have for centuries set the pace as a beacon of light on the African continent.

I most heartily congratulate the Peoples Democratic Party, who stood shoulder to shoulder, with the people of Edo and their Government, in good times and bad. We in the PDP have shown that we are not fair-weather friends to the good people of Edo. In good times, we will walk beside you. In bad times, we will be your loyal ‘comrade’. We will never be a turncoat. We will never abandon the principles we once espoused so that we can dine with our nemesis. Democracy has no nemesis. And this, the PDP has again proved.

I look forward to the continuation of four more years of tangible development, and people centered leadership from Governor Obaseki. I also seize this opportunity to thank His Royal Highness, the Oba of Benin, Omo N'oba N'Edo Uku Akpolopkolo, Ewuare II, for the fatherly role he played as a neutral catalyst for peace. That this election was, by and large, free from violence, is a testament of the long and effective shadow he casts over his domain.

From personal experience, I know Governor Obaseki to be a magnanimous man, and I urge Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu to accept the right hand of fellowship that is likely to be extended to him. The leprous hand he is now holding can only lead to a destination of barrenness. He is amongst strange bedfellows, and I remind him that no matter how far one has gone on a wrong road, it is never too late to turn back and head in the right direction. The PDP is the right direction.

And to the good people of Ondo state, my message to you is that freedom from the oppressive grasp of godfathers and external forces that seek to dominate your will and eviscerate your treasury, is possible. Edo has done it. You can do it too!

There is a new wind of democratic change now blowing all over Nigeria. The forces of despotism, nepotism, and interlopers cannot successfully withstand this force. Nigeria shall soon be totally free from these forces, from Kaura Namoda, to Lagos. The only power that will stand in Nigeria is people power, not the power of godfathers, or despots.

May God bless the good people of Edo State and may God bless Nigeria.

EDO GUBER: SO FAR, WE ARE SATISFIED WITH VOTING PROCESS - WIKE

*tells security agencies to protect collation centres.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has noted with pleasure the turnout of people to vote for candidates of their choice in the Edo Governorship Election.

Governor Wike made the observation in reaction to the general conduct of the election.

He said there was minimal violence recorded because of the proactive measures deployed by the security agencies.

Governor Wike stated that election does not end with voting because it is a process that also includes counting of votes and collation.

He said with the voting concluded, there was need for both the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the security agencies to ensure that nothing scuttles the remaining stages.

"Like I have said before, election is not only about voting, the votes should be counted, then you proceed to collation stages; ward, local and state government levels. The collation stage is the critical period.

"So, I urge both INEC and security agencies to protect all the collation centres. When that is done, everybody who has voted will be happy to see that their will has prevailed," he said.

The governor said when an electoral process is transparent with less violence and disenfranchisement, every participating political party will gladly accept its outcome.

"This may likely be the best election ever conducted in the history of Nigeria. But they must allow the process to continue to the end. Otherwise they will destroy it.

"If it is APC that has won, let it be so. If it is PDP that has won, let it also be so. But I must tell that we are happy with what we have got.

"We have field report of results of over 2,000 polling units. It shows clearly that PDP is leading.

"I want to commend INEC so far. They have made sure that people voted in their various polling units.

"I want to also commend the security agencies so far, for also making sure that there were no much violence," he added.
