3 mistakes to avoid when creating YouTube videos.

Spending time creating video content and then finding out that it didn't rank well is frustrating.
I have first-hand experience with it and I can tell how bad it will make you feel.

After putting in so much effort in creating a video, I posted it on my new YouTube channel but I was disappointed to go back after hours to find out that I only had 5 views.

I felt so sad and went offline angrily. When the anger subsided, I went back to check out the videos of others to see what they did that I probably didn't do.

I studied their videos and found out these 5 things that I got wrong.

1) I didn't create a thumbnail for my video.
2) I didn't write a well-detailed description of my video.
3) I didn't input relevant keywords into the few descriptions I wrote.

These 3 mistakes cost me my views and subscribers.

After analysing their videos and pointing out my mistakes, I went back to my video to correct two out of the three.

I wrote a well-detailed description and also infused the relevant keywords so it will rank well for SEO.

After doing that, I added the keywords in the search space and my video was among the ones that popped up.

I went back to the video the next day to see that my views increased to 35. 30 more people viewed it.

Don't make these mistakes with me.

I did research on video marketing statistics in 2022.

I carried out this research last month but some factors made me not work on the video since then.

One of the factors that delayed this video was that I find it awkward to listen to my recorded voice. 🀦

I don't know if I'm the only one who feels this way.

I've recorded more than 20 voice-overs for this video and ended up deleting all of them.

This morning, I was determined to create this video no matter how mu voice sounds and here we are.

For someone that wants to start a YouTube channel soon, I have to be conversant with listening to my voice.

There are a lot of lies and misconceptions surrounding video marketing that people may be blind to. These myths have made a lot of people avoid video marketing because they think it is not ideal for them. Below are some myths and truths of video marketing.

Myth 1) Video Marketing is expensive.

Fact: With the advancement of technology, you can use your smartphone to shoot your videos in your office, at home, or anywhere else. You only need to hire a freelance video editor to help you with editing the video which won't cost you up to a thousand dollars.

Myth 2) It’s Time-Consuming

Fact: Video Marketing might look cumbersome because of everything making up a marketable video. But it does not consume time as you think. You only need to create a plan and strategy for it.

Myth 3) It’s Hard to Track

Fact: Tracking the metrics of your video is easy and fun to do. Though it all depends on the platform you are using to market your video. On LinkedIn, your metrics, Tiktok, and Instagram, tracking your video metrics is easy. It can be a bit difficult on Youtube but with some paid apps/sites, you can measure the metric.

Stop leaving money on the table!

When optimising your LinkedIn profile( or any social media platform), don't leave your cover design behind.

Your cover design is one of the first things people look out for while viewing your profile. It says a lot about your personality.

These few days I checked out a lot of profiles and most of them have a mistake in common.

Their cover designs don't represent them well.

Some used cars, buildings, flowers, coffee cups, the sky, etc as their cover photo while some used a design that isn't bold enough to capture the minds of their audiences.

Your cover should be a design that highlights your strength, your personality, and your business.
It should be bold and captivating.
It should make people fall in love with your brand at first sight.

A good cover design helps in building trust in the hearts of your audience and that trust will make them do business with you.

That is why you must learn HOW TO write catchy hooks for your videos.

To get your viewers glued to your video content, you must work hard for it. Your hook is the first step to drawing them to watch your videos, your main content keeps them watching till the end, and your CTA makes them take action immediately.

We will learn HOW TO create a good hook today.

1) Use the DID YOU KNOW factor: Spark their curiosity by telling them an intriguing FACT. This post is an example.

2) Use the number game: Numbers have a way of flaring our interest. e.g 5 mistakes you have been making in copywriting.

3) Ask a question: This will get them thinking immediately and at the same time make them want to know the answer to the question.

4) Point out their pain point and offer a solution. People are only interested in solving their problems. Tell them their problems and give them a solution. E.g Are you suffering from acne? This is how to get rid of it.

5) Tell them a joke. The world is full of problems already, and people want to laugh them out a little, and that is why big brands invest in funny skit makers.

6) Use the HOW TO factor. People want to learn new things daily, so feed their minds with what you know how to do.
