This volleyball player turned into a famous rapper in just two years after starting in music.
Isis Naija Gaston, also known as Ice Spice, is an American rapper, although she confirmed that she has Nigerian roots.
Her words, "I am Nigerian. I'm not sure of the tribe, maybe Igbo." She adopted the nickname Ice Spice from a fake social media handle when she was 14.
During her high school years, Isis excelled as an athlete, playing volleyball for Sacred Heart High School in Yonkers, and ultimately earned a full-ride scholarship to play in college at SUNY Purchase. However, she revealed that she only played college volleyball for a year and chose to drop out because it wasn't for her.
She thought about acting and beauty school. But her rap journey started when she met Ryan, a fellow Bronx native and friend.
Ice Spice got serious about music after releasing her first song, "Bully Freestyle."Everything changed with "Munch." This song blew up on TikTok, making Ice Spice famous. Then she signed record deals and released her first project.
In just a year, she got four Grammy nominations. Today's her 24th birthday, wish her well!
