This is Makoko community in Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi refused to build this place because the residents are mainly Lagosians.

But Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu built Lagos for Igbos and other Nigerians to thrive and do business.

Nigeria: LOKO OWETO BRIDGE vs. SECOND NIGER BRIDGE

This is the 2.2km Loko-Oweto Bridge that connects Benue to Nassarawa (Both State in the North Central).

It was done and dusted without any noise and fanfare. It is also not tolled or levied.

The construction of this bridge started in 2011 and was completed and delivered in 2020. This Bridge is not in any form or manner tolled.

This Bridge is longer than the Second Niger Bridge that connects the South West and part of the South South to the south East.

I never saw any news in the media asking the indigenes of Benue and Nassarawa States to carry cows and Atilogwu dance to go and thank Goodluck Jonathan and Buhari for doing them a favor.

But, everyday human beings with grey matter in their cranium will always remind us to bow down and prostrate before Muhammadu Buhari for allowing the continuation of work on the a simple 1.6km Second Niger Bridge that will be tolled and levied.

The FGN and her private sector partners, who fund the construction of this Second Niger Bridge at an outrageously over-invoiced cost and padded budget plan when compared to the longer Loko-Oweto Bridge, will toll it to recover the cost of construction from us (the Igbos) plus the profit over a period of 30 years plus.

The Igbos for the most part and other Niger Bridge users will pay for the cost of this Bridge plus margin, via tolling, despite the fact that it was done with part of the oil and gas revenue from the Igbo State and taxes from this section of the country.

400billion for a 1.6km bridge? Lol.

3. Started in 2012, project was launched in 2014 and should have been completed in 2017, but worked stopped for 31 months by buhari administration in 2015, & completion date was moved to 2019 but still wasn't completed until covid happened in 2020, so completion was moved to 2022.

4. Federal government share of the Cost is 20%. Jonathan through the Sure-P paid N21.2billion including N7billion for the completion of preparatory work (Phase 1).

5. 38% of the work was done as at Jan 2015, 1year after the launch.

8. Jonathan Govt have paid 71% of federal government share of the cost, While Buhari’s govt is to pay 29%.

10. Julius Berger, the Major Contractor and Construction company will put Toll Gate on Completion of the Bridge to cover their cost.

11. The Construction Company is Funding 60% of the Project and the People using the Bridge will bear the cost via Toll Charges.

The real People building the Bride are Nigerians that will use the Bridge, as they will repay the cost to Julius Berger

Anambra revisits abandoned govt house, to spend N6bn on project

The Anambra State Government has revisited the abandoned Government House project in Awka, 31 years after the project was initiated.

The state governor during a state executive council meeting said the project would gulp a whooping N6.088 billion to attain completion.

This was contained in a press release by the state commissioner for information, Mr Paul Nwosu, after this week’s state executive council meeting at the government house.

Prof Chukwuma Soludo in the release stated that his government would complete the project within 18 months.

Work on the new government house has been stalled for about 31 years since the first Military Administrator of the State, Navy Captain Joseph Abulu began the project.

Nwosu in the press release said: “The memo on the abandoned government house and 25 other peripheral structures were presented by the Commissioner for Housing and considered by Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC).

“The project which will cost N6.088 billion and will be completed within 18 months was approved by ANSEC.

“Also endorsed for construction are gate houses, police posts, perimeter fence measuring 2.22 linear kilometres and other internal works such as driveways, parking areas, walkways, drainages, water supplies, green area, etc. All of these will be complete at the cost of N1.317 billion and delivered in 9 months.”

The new Anambra Government House, a project which had been constructed to a reasonable extent with roofing, was later abandoned to rodents and reptiles while corrugated roofing sheets and irons used for the project have all been vandalized and stolen.

The commissioner also revealed other far-reaching decisions taken by the council including; the abolition of incursion into people’s property by youths for payment before building, stoppage of indiscriminate dumping of refuse, and the construction of a 14.053 kilometres dual carriage road in Okpoko for N9billion, among others.

As we approach the official kick off of the campaign, it has become evident that the opposition have adopted a negative strategy of trolling and insinuating fake news and misinformation in the social media space and blaming the Labour Party, its presidential candidate and their supporters of same. We remain resolute in our commitment to an issue-based and clean campaign.

We will also rebuff all such ploys of deceit and calumny meant to create disaffection among Nigeria's voting population, who desire credible leadership change.

Obi needs N50bn to defeat Tinubu - Fayose

Isaac, the younger brother of former Ekiti Governor Ayodele Fayose, has said the Labour Party(LP)’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi needs at least N50bn to win in 2023.

Fayose said Obi’s online popularity is not enough to secure victory, emphasising he needs N50bn to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He also stressed the Labour Party presidential candidate lacks the political structure to win the contest.

In a video, the younger Fayose said Tinubu has the money and structure to become the next President.

“Out of all the candidates, Obi is the most popular. If we vote today on social media, he will win. But an election is structure-based. So, Obi will need N50bn to be able to make that government a reality. N50bn, yes, Obi will win.

“Remember, Tinubu is a little bit popular too. He has what they call structure. The structure alone is worth N50bn. He has what they call goodwill. They call him ‘The City Boy’. So ‘where him money no fit reach, him structure go reach, where him structure no fit reach, him popularity go reach.

“Obi, with N50bn, will manage to buy his own army to defeat Tinubu,” Fayose stated.
