TASUED Students Union Takes a Stand: Freshers Urged to Pause Fee Payments Amid Sudden Hike
In a move that has sparked significant conversation across the Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) campus, the Students Union Government (SUG), led by Team Visionary ’24, has issued a strong directive to incoming 100-level students. The SUG is urging freshers to pause all school fee payments following a sudden and unexpected hike in fees by the university management.
This announcement, made on the 3rd of October, 2024, came as a response to the fee increase, which has caused a wave of concern among students and their families. The letter from the SUG expressed disappointment with the fee adjustment, stating that it has placed an unnecessary financial burden on new students who are just beginning their academic journey at TASUED. According to the union, this decision was made by the university without proper engagement with the student body, leaving freshers to bear the brunt of the change.
The Students Union has taken immediate action, calling on the university to remove the school fee payment option from the portal until a resolution is reached. In their letter, the SUG reassured students that they are actively working on reversing the hike through negotiations with the university’s management. They emphasized that their goal is to secure a fair and manageable outcome for all students.
The letter also urged students to remain patient and united during this period of uncertainty, promising that updates will be provided as soon as negotiations progress. The Central Executive Council, along with the Students House of Senate and College Presidents, are spearheading this effort to ensure that students’ voices are heard in these critical discussions.
