°°°•••BEWARE OF THE IDES OF MARCH•••°°°
Ides of March is the 15th day of March. Ides is the midday in a month. Hence every month has its own "Ides".
However, ides of March stands out remarkably because it commemorates the day Julius Caesar was killed by his best, most trusted Ally and friend - Brutus.

"Beware of the Idea of March" The soothsayer warned Caesar but Caesar didn't pay attention. His deaf ears led to his betrayal and death.

You know what? As the traitors began killing Caesar, in his gallant nature as a warrior of no mean character Caesar fought ferociously against them, the strikes from their swords giving him no "pain" until a strike came. How chilled he would have felt to see the person wielding the sword?

The struck that made him amazed and bewildered came from his best friend, companion, Ally and all in all. "Brutus". I would have compared it to the betrayal of Jesus. But Jesus knew who was to betray him, and I can say he was emotionally ready for it. Julius Caesar didn't know and wasn't. He must have had an electrifying shock and all he could say we're these words, "Et tu Brute" - "Even you Brutus". At this juncture he didn't fight any longer. He lost the fight. O dear Caesar sorry for you.

"Brutus was an Honorable man" Mac Anthony cried out at the Funeral where he gave a Paradoxical speech that every second resounds in my mind asleep or awake. "Friends Romans lend me you ears. I have come to bury Caesar and not to praise him, the evils that men do live after them..."

Ides of March remains significant. But their are Ides of other months. Caesar was victim, you can also be a victim. Your "victimhood" must not even be on an "Ides". It can be on any day.

Your friend(s) can be your "Brutus", but you too can be a "Brutus " to your friend(s).

You may have been a victim of "Brutusisation", you may have "Brutusised " another.
Circumstances as these can make one loose interest in friendship and also doubting "trust".

Are you a reason why someone doesn't believe in trust again? Are you a reason why people fear to have friends? Are you a victim?
Be wise so that it doesn't happen again.

Beware of the Ides of March.

in History

On September 11, 2001, a tragic event occurred that shook the world to its core. This day will forever be etched in our collective memory, and the pain and loss felt by so many still reverberate through time.

On this day, we remember and honor the countless lives that were tragically lost and the immense suffering endured by their loved ones. Our hearts go out to all those who were affected by the events of 9/11, both directly and indirectly.

In the face of such darkness and despair, it can be challenging to find solace and understanding. Yet, even in the midst of unimaginable tragedy, we can turn to our faith and find strength.

During times like these, it is vital to remember that God's love and mercy are boundless. He sees our pain, and He weeps with us. Lean on Him for comfort and guidance, and allow His compassion to heal your wounded heart.

As we reflect on the events of 9/11, let us also remember the countless acts of bravery and heroism that emerged from the darkness. Ordinary individuals became heroes, risking their lives to save others. Their selflessness and courage serve as a testament to the triumph of the human spirit.

In the face of adversity, let us not be consumed by anger or despair, but instead, let our hearts be filled with compassion and unity. Together, we can rise above hatred and division, striving to create a world rooted in love, understanding, and peace.

On this day of remembrance, let us honor the memory of those we lost by committing ourselves to acts of kindness, compassion, and unity. May their legacies inspire us to build a brighter future, one where love triumphs over hatred and where the wounds of the past can slowly begin to heal.

Though we may never fully understand the complexities of this tragic day, I hope that you find solace in knowing that you are not alone in your sorrow. We stand together, offering support and love to one another, as we navigate the pain and grief that still lingers in our hearts.

May God's comforting presence be with you and all those affected by the events of 9/11, reminding us that even amidst the darkest of times, His light will guide us towards healing and hope.

With heartfelt remembrance,

FOCUS ON THE ESSENTIALS

"When you feel life is out of focus, always return to the basics of life. Breathing." This advice from Mr. Miyagi highlights the importance of focusing on the fundamental aspects of our existence when we feel overwhelmed or disconnected.

Breathing is an essential part of our life, yet it often goes unnoticed or taken for granted. By bringing our attention to the act of breathing, we can ground ourselves in the present moment and find a sense of calm and clarity.

Here's a detailed explanation of the concept:

1. Mindfulness: When we shift our attention to our breath, we engage in mindfulness. Mindfulness is the practice of being fully present, observing our thoughts, emotions, and sensations without judgment. By focusing on the breath, we anchor our awareness in the present moment, allowing us to let go of worries about the past or future.

2. Centering and grounding: The breath acts as an anchor for our awareness. In times of stress or confusion, consciously focusing on our breath helps center and ground us. It brings us back to our bodies, helping us become more aware of physical sensations and the present environment.

3. Relaxation response: Deep, conscious breathing activates the body's relaxation response, triggering the parasympathetic nervous system. This response counteracts the fight-or-flight stress response, reducing stress levels, lowering blood pressure, and promoting a sense of calmness and relaxation.

4. Emotional regulation: Breathing techniques are known to influence and regulate emotions. Slowing down and extending the breath, particularly through deep diaphragmatic breathing, can help calm racing thoughts, stabilize emotions, and promote a greater sense of emotional balance.

5. Clarity and focus: By focusing on our breath, we direct our attention away from distractions and bring it to the present moment. This practice can improve concentration, enhance mental clarity, and improve decision-making skills.

6. Mind-body connection: The act of consciously breathing brings attention to the body and encourages an awareness of the mind-body connection. It allows us to tune in to our physical sensations, release tension, and create a greater sense of harmony between the mind and body.

In summary, Mr. Miyagi's advice emphasizes the power of returning to the basic and essential aspects of life, such as breathing. Focusing on the breath provides us with a tool for mindfulness, grounding, relaxation, emotional regulation, mental clarity, and nurturing the mind-body connection. Ultimately, it helps us find balance and regain a sense of control when life feels overwhelming or out of focus.

When actually do we remember God?

Fr Kelvin Ugwu asks this pertinent question in this short piece below. As Christians and believers we ought to look at it and then ponder and reflect on our relationship with God whom we claim to love and owe allegiance to.

"We remember Christ when we are in trouble. We call the name of Jesus when we are in need. When we are sick, we remember the Bible, Holy Water, or Rosary. Pause a little and ask yourself, the day you almost prayed your throat out and remembered to go to church, what were you passing through that period?"

Confronting the Growing Concern of Domestic Violence and Materialism: A Call for Wisdom and Empathy

Introduction:

In our interconnected world, news and trends spread rapidly, often highlighting the dark and troubling aspects of human behavior. Recently, there has been talk on social media regarding a disturbing incident involving a man allegedly involved in abusive behavior towards his girlfriend. This individual is reported to be involved in illicit activities, commonly referred to as "Yahoo Yahoo," and despite the alleged abuse, is said to have bought his girlfriend a luxury car and taken her on extravagant trips. This narrative has ignited a discussion about the intersection of domestic violence, materialism, and societal values.

1. The Tragic Reality of Domestic Violence:

Domestic violence is an abhorrent and pervasive issue that affects individuals across social, economic, and cultural boundaries. The reported bone-cracking abuse endured by the girlfriend in question is a heart-wrenching illustration of the physical and emotional torture that victims of domestic violence often endure. This tragic reality should never be trivialized or dismissed.

2. Materialism and Its Distorted Priorities:

The disturbing twist to this story lies in the girlfriend's acceptance of material possessions, such as a luxury car and lavish trips, despite the alleged abuse she suffered. This highlights a concerning trend where material gains overshadow personal well-being and dignity. The belief that it is better to suffer in opulence than to seek safety and peace is a troubling reflection of misplaced values and societal pressures.

3. The Importance of Empathy and Intervention:

It is crucial that as a society, we prioritize empathy and support for victims of domestic violence. Despite the allure of material wealth, it is vital to recognize the long-term psychological and physical damage that abusive relationships inflict. Instead of turning a blind eye or making light of the situation, it is imperative that we extend a helping hand to those in need and provide appropriate resources for intervention, such as helplines, counseling services, and safe shelters.

4. Educating and Empowering Individuals:

To combat the growing concern of domestic violence and distorted priorities, education and empowerment must be at the forefront. Promoting healthy relationships built on respect, love, and equality should be emphasized, starting from educational institutions and continuing into everyday conversations and media portrayals. Support networks and organizations should also provide guidance on recognizing the signs of domestic violence and offering assistance to victims in need.

5. Rediscovering Personal Values and Redefining Success:

In a society that often equates material possessions or status with success, it is crucial to reassess our values. Indulging in materialistic pursuits at the cost of personal well-being and the happiness of others is not a sustainable path towards fulfillment. By redefining success based on compassion, emotional well-being, and healthy relationships, we can collectively work towards creating a more empathetic and supportive society.

Conclusion:

The story circulating on social media regarding domestic violence, materialism, and societal values serves as a wake-up call and a reminder of the urgent need to confront such destructive dynamics. Combating domestic violence requires a multifaceted approach involving education, intervention, empathy, and a reevaluation of personal values. Let us stand united in condemning domestic violence, providing support to victims, and creating a society where respect, empathy, and genuine human connections take precedence over material possessions.

STOICISM
When Seneca was sentenced to death by Nero, his family and friends began wailing in shock and horror. But Seneca was calm. “Who knew not Nero’s cruelty,” he told them. We can’t be surprised by this. Indeed, it was a brave and rational response—the only shame is that Seneca couldn’t have seen this coming earlier. If he had, perhaps he could have stopped the tyrant before he hurt so many people.

The point being: This is not a philosophy for the weak or the cowardly. Stoicism is about facing the truth, about thinking about the unthinkable. Not just as it’s happening, but long before.

It is July already. They year has gone beyond half. Yet, neither has it left us nor have we left it. All thanks to God's love, mercy and graces.

We may have had plans which we wished to accomplish within this year, some may have accomplished theirs, Kudos! Some may still be struggling, that is fair, while some may not have started. But all the same, we still have time to do something.

The Times is now, and you can still begin today to count afresh, with sufficient effort, the results will still come, may be not fully, but something is better than nothing in a direction.

May the grace of this month strengthen, motivate and lead us in the right direction towards the actualisation of our goal.
You always can.
