My name is Zanzan. I was born and raised in Makurdi, Nigeria. I was an athletic school kid who grew up dreaming of becoming a professional footballer but i was forced to quit professional sports due to injuries and fitness issues. I was depressed and struggled with mental health before transforming my wanderlust desires into becoming a travel blogger. I take my audience to enchanting destinations, immersing them in diverse cultures and thrilling escapades.

Armed with only a camera in hand and a heart filled with wanderlust, I set off to uncover hidden gems, traverse untrodden paths, and embrace the diversity of cultures that make our world so extraordinary. From the bustling streets of vibrant cities to the serene tranquility of remote landscapes, I immerse myself in the tapestry of experiences that await me.

Through vivid storytelling and captivating visuals, I bring destinations to life, painting a vivid picture of the sights, sounds, and flavors that define each place. I share practical travel tips, offering guidance on navigating unfamiliar territories, finding off-the-beaten-path treasures, and connecting with the local communities that breathe life into every corner of the globe.

My blogs becoming digital portals for my audience to embark on virtual adventures alongside me. I chronicle thrilling escapades, whether it’s hiking through lush rainforests, diving into crystal-clear waters teeming with vibrant marine life, or traversing rugged mountain ranges that test both body and spirit. Each post carries an air of excitement and a pulsating energy that ignites wanderlust within my audience.

But beyond the captivating landscapes and exhilarating adventures, I sought to delve deeper into the essence of travel. I explored the transformative power of cultural immersion, highlighting the connections forged with locals, the shared stories and traditions that bridges continents, and the profound lessons learned through cross-cultural encounters.

As a travel blogger, I aim to inspire others to embrace the beauty of our world, to step outside their comfort zones, and to embark on their own extraordinary journeys. Through my words, photographs, and videos, I sought to ignite sparks of curiosity, encouraging readers to wander, to seek, and to discover the boundless wonders that await them.

Join me, fellow fearless adventurers as we traverse the globe together, exploring the mesmerizing landscapes, savoring the flavors of distant cuisines, and immersing ourselves in the vibrant tapestry of humanity. Let the pulsating rhythm of adventure guide us, as we embark together on thrilling escapades that will leave an indelible mark on our souls, inspire a lifelong love affair with the world and test the limits of our very existence because the odyssey of expeditions, the sojourn of voyages, the quest for new discoveries and experiencing the thrill of every new adventure is how I feel the most alive.

Hiking for the first time with the Benue Hike Group was an exhilarating and memorable experience. As a nature enthusiast, I had always been captivated by the beauty of the outdoors, and this hiking group seemed like the perfect opportunity to explore the stunning landscapes of Benue and connect with fellow hikers.

On the day of the hike, I eagerly joined the group at the designated meeting point. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as everyone prepared themselves for the adventure ahead. The hike leaders provided a warm welcome, introducing themselves and outlining the day's itinerary. They emphasized safety protocols, ensuring that all participants were equipped with the necessary gear and briefed on hiking etiquette.

As we embarked on the trail, I was immediately struck by the captivating scenery. The diverse landscapes of Ikwe hills unfolded before my eyes, with rolling hills, lush forests, and picturesque valleys. The hike leaders shared their knowledge of the area, pointing out unique flora and fauna, and highlighting the significance of preserving these natural treasures.

The camaraderie within the group was remarkable. I quickly connected with fellow hikers, sharing stories, laughter, and a mutual love for nature. We encouraged and supported each other throughout the hike, making the challenging sections of the trail feel more manageable. The experienced hikers offered advice and tips, ensuring that everyone felt included and comfortable.

The hike itself was a physical and mental challenge, but the rewards were immeasurable. Scaling steep slopes, navigating rocky terrain, and crossing gushing streams tested my endurance and resilience. However, reaching the summit of a breathtaking viewpoint made every step worthwhile. The sense of accomplishment and the stunning vistas that greeted us at each milestone were awe-inspiring.

During breaks, we rested and replenished our energy while indulging in delicious snacks and engaging in lively conversations. It was a chance to soak in the peacefulness of nature, appreciating the serenity that surrounded us.

As the hike drew to a close, a bittersweet feeling enveloped me. I had forged new friendships, challenged my limits, and experienced the beauty of Benue in a unique way. The Benue Hike Group had provided a platform for exploration, adventure, and personal growth.

Reflecting on my first hiking experience with the Benue Hike Group, I realized that it was more than just a physical activity. It was an opportunity to disconnect from the chaos of everyday life, reconnect with nature, and discover the strength within myself. The memories and lessons learned during that hike have left an indelible mark on my soul, fueling my passion for outdoor adventures and instilling a deep appreciation for the wonders of nature.

MY TOUR OF SOUTHWESTERN NIGERIA

I definitely needed a vacation after a very hectic NYSC service year, so before my passing out parade, I went on an adventure in which i visited the six(6) states of southwestern Nigeria
I visited a lot of places but the most scenic tourist attractions amongst all of them are these three places i visited on the same day.

1. Idanre hills, Ondo state. The highest point in southwestern nigeria with an elevation of 1,055 m (3,461 ft).

2. Erin ijesha/ Olumirin waterfalls, osun state. The highest waterfall in southwestern Nigeria

3. Ikogosi warm springs, Ekiti state. Where water heated by underground volcano flows out of the rocks

I was very impressed with what I saw at Ikogosi warm springs, Ekiti state. There is a resort built close to the springs. The resort has warm water swimming pools directly receiving water from the springs. The resort also has hotel rooms, observation decks, restaurants, children’s playground and uninterrupted power supply. The people of Ikogosi township believe the water from the warm springs has healing power and anyone who drinks/ bathes with the water will be healed of all diseases. They also believe that two spirits fighting inside the rocks underground is what makes the water to be warm.

During this adventure, i learnt a lot about the ethnic diversities, food/ cuisine, language/ dialects, culture and traditions of the Yoruba people.
I came across a lot of traditional delicacies of which the most interesting was antelope stew prepared with only local spices and herbs by the people of Erin-oke township, Oriade LGA of Osun state. I was surprised because it was prepared without any salt, curry, thyme or cube seasoning. I watched as the antelope was prepared using only berries, nuts and herbs as sweetener, flavor and seasoning. I was served the complete head of the antelope(last picture).

It was a lifetime experience which i will someday write a detailed story about in a travel journal because this is just a short summary of the whole adventure
