Distinguish senator Mohammed Ali Ndume on his response after his meeting with the Minister for works.

I was with the Minister for Works on the subject matter Biu-Gombe road and other roads in Southern Borno and Borno in general.
We have three major challenges.
1. Insecurity in our region.
2. Poor performance by Contractors due to the insecurity and
3. Lack of sufficient funding.
NNPCL is taking over the three roads mentioned through the Tax Credit Scheme but due process must be followed and that will take some time because the contract must be determined and new contract with NNPC must be formalized.
We are meeting again on Friday InshaAllah with other members of NASS from Borno to follow up on the matter.

24/01/2024

Speaking to Channels TV in an interview, Ndume challenged the value of the current salary range of recruits.

“The recruits are paid less than N50,000 in some cases. How can you pay somebody money that cannot buy him a bag of rice and you expect him to go and sacrifice and put in his best?

“How can you pay a Nigerian Army, for example, an allowance of N1,200 as his daily money and pay him N2000 only as Duty Tour Allowance (DTA) and put him in the theatre? Some from Lagos, Oyo, and Ondo moved to Maiduguri.

“Their parents are expecting that they will send them something monthly and you pay the guy N50,000 or less. These are the major challenges that the government must rise to.”

Giving reasons for the call for salary increase, the lawmaker representing Borno South said the Nigerian government last increased their salaries in 2008. He also wants the government to recruit more security operatives, especially to make up for the deficit manpower in the Nigerian Police Force as well as the Nigerian Army.

Apart from salary increments and more recruitment, Ndume asked President Bola Tinubu’s administration to ensure that adequate equipment is acquired for the military to address the nation’s threats and also boost their morale.

“What the President must do is to review the salaries of the Nigerian armed forces because it was last reviewed in 2008, we are in 2024.

“We should review the salary of all the security agencies, we should increase the number of security agencies, especially police and the Nigerian Army. We should equip them adequately and we should motivate them,” he added.

Biu Dam Project: Mohammed Ali Ndume Facilitates Allocations Of One Billion for Revival in 2024 Appropriations Act.

In a significant move aimed at addressing the long-standing water scarcity in Southern Borno, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, who represents Borno South and serves as the Senate Majority Whip, has successfully secured one billion Naira in the 2024 Appropriations Act for the completion of the Biu Dam projects.

The Biu Dam, a project left dormant for 37 years, holds the promise of providing vital relief to constituents in Southern Borno. Senator Ndume, responding to recent inquiries, detailed the efforts being made to rejuvenate and reconstruct the long-abandoned dam.

Upon completion, the Biu Dam is anticipated to provide potable water to more than 200,000 people in the region and support irrigation farming, significantly impacting the local community's livelihoods.

Senator Ndume expressed his commitment to the project, stating, "I have succeeded in allocating N1 billion in the 2024 Appropriations Act for the completion of the Biu Dam projects." He further assured that diligent follow-up will be conducted to ensure the effective implementation of the allocated funds, emphasizing, "We will follow up to ensure the implementation, InshaAllah."

The initial phase of the Biu Dam project was awarded to LeeFakino in 1979 and later reassigned to Nalando Company. Despite these efforts, the project has remained in a state of abandonment. With the recent allocation and Senator Ndume's proactive approach, hopes are high for the resurrection of the Biu Dam and the positive impact it could bring to the Southern Borno constituents.

Forget Jackson Ude’s disease minded Fiction On Akpabio’s Birthday- Eyiboh

Hon Eseme Eyiboh, Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, CON, has dismissed the itinerant literature of blackmail as the latest extract from the stables of Mr Jackson Ude on plans by friends of President of the Senate for his birthday.

In a rebuttal to Ude’s claims that the funding of the birthday is coming from the Senate and MDAs, Eyiboh challenged the author to show evidence or else gear himself for a date with the law for damaging the reputations of otherwise respectable persons in good standing in the society. Mr Jackson Ude should know by now that, being a fugitive can not shield a serial blackmailer from the long arms of the law.

Eyiboh who identified himself as a pivot in the coordination of the birthday affirmed that it was a purely private initiative from the friends and associates of the President of the Senate who consistently over the years come together to celebrate the timeless legacies of Akpabio, the destiny child. He as such affirmed that Ude not being a friend or associate could not have been privy to this yearly show of solidarity and uncommon brotherhood to a renaissance man.

Hear him:
“Mr Ude who is certainly not a friend nor an associate of the President of the Senate has cooked up imaginations that extend the bounds of fantasy to apparently buttress his ranking in fiction writing.

“Unfortunately, in pushing his story on the plans that friends have for the Senate President, Ude has in his write-up encroached on the personal confidentiality of some of the friends of Senator Akpabio. It is a regrettable act of indiscretion picking up names of genuine friends of the President of the Senate in the hatchet job of character assassination of the distinguished President of the Senate and his close associates.

“As one of the friends deeply associated with the plans of the birthday, I affirm that the assertions of Ude including the tale of mopping funds from the Senate for the birthday are a cocktail of fabricated lies for which no serious person should rivet attention to.

“The birthday plans of the President of the Senate are well thought out plans from friends and associates from within and outside the National Assembly and funded from private sources even without the input of the President of the President.”

Hon Eyiboh as such called on all men of good reasoning to discountenance what he described as the frivolities of Mr Ude which he said were aimed at distracting from the plans to celebrate an uncommon man of destiny.
