MESSAGE FOR ANYONE WHO NEEDS IT
For an earthquake to erupt, two tectonic plates can grind against one another for million of years, the tension slowly building all the while. Then one day, they rub each other again, but this time tension is too great, an earthquake erupts.
So now, a quick question; Do you think it was the last rub that was so strong to cause an earthquake?
Certainly, not.
The last rub might not even be as great as the previous ones, but it propels the earthquake.
How?
The earthquake erupt as a result of the collective efforts of the previous rubs.
Know that every rub was a fundermental unit that contributes to the eruption. At first they may seem insignificant, but they build on each to fuel the eruption.
So how does all these concerns you?
Why am I telling you all these?
What does it matters to you?
It does matters to you in every aspect of your life. Especially when you are trying to improve or starts something new. Either in your finances, your habbits, your physical look and so on…
Most times, majority of people tends to give up when they feel there’s no improvement in what they are doing. They can can’t see the change, the improvement they sought.
You are still the same, even after hitting the gym for a whole month.
You still can’t communicate in french, even after taking the class for two good weeks.
You are still poor in writing, even after practicing for four weeks.
You started feeling, “ maybe this is not meant for me”.
Let me tell you, in reality, the results of our efforts are often not visible.
And this can result in valley of disappointment. Whereby you start feeling discouraged, because you are yet to see results. Even after investing weeks, months of hard work.
Know that in the early and middle stages of any quest, there’s always valley of disappointment.
However, your work is not wasted, it was simply stored to propel the result of your work as at the due time.
If you are familiar with the principle of “compound effect”, you’ll know what I’m talking about.
The principle Is about the agregation of marginal gain, and also reaping of huge reward from series of small smart choices you made.
This principle works in every aspect of your life. Both negatively and positively.
Ranging from habbits, to improvement, sickness, to the prayers you make, to social media platforms algorithm.
Do you understand what I’m saying? Or you need me to cite practical and verifiable examples?
Fine, I’ll.
Starting with sickness; Detecting cancer today doesn’t mean it started today. Cancers spend 80% of it’s life undetected, and take over the entire body in a month.
Do you get it now?
More examples?
Ok.
This time let’s look at plants; A bamboo can barely be seen for the first five years as it builds an extensive root system underground before exploding 90ft into the air within six weeks.
And finally, this time around, something we all familiar with; The groups, pages, channels of over 1m followers you see on social media today, started with just a single member, “the owner” and it remains with few members “invited by the owner” for a long time.
I hope you understand my point now?
You do?
Good.
Nothing in this world happens overnight. Everything happens as a result of collective efforts of a continuous action done over a period of time.
And when you finally break through the plateau of latent potential, people will call it overnight success.
The outside see the dramatic event rather than what preceded it.
However, the problem of the majority that quit is lack of patience. We mostly focus on the goal, rather than the process.
And that’s exactly what I want us to talk about. “The process”.
Yes, the process.
It’s good to set a goal when you plan to achieve anything. Infact it is one of the effective way in achieving things faster.
But, after setting the goal, can you take your mind of it and focus on the process that leads to the success of your goal?
Yes, forget about the goal you set, what you plan to achieve, what you want to be, and focus on the process, enjoy every bit of the journey towards achieving your goals.
Set the goal, take your mind of the results, and enjoy the process.
“How do I enjoy the process”, you think?
Fine, I’ll explain, but let me ask you a quick question.
Do you think if you completely ignore your goal and focus on only the process, would you succeed?
You are not sure, right?
The answer is yes, you would.
If you want a better results, forget about the goal, focus and enjoy the system. The system, process is what makes you.
Forget about the scoreboard and improve yourself daily as you journey towards your goal. The score will take care of itself.
You’ll have problem if you spend enough time thinking about your goal, but fail to invest reasonable time in the process that leads to your goal.
That’s why you have to fall to the level of the process I ordered to rise to the level of your goal.
One of the reasons of setting goals is what they make of you in achieving them.
The skills you gain, the knowledge you acquire, the confidence, the experience, the discipline and so on… you can only achieve all these through the process.
Mind you, it’s not what you have that makes you valuable, but what you become try to get what you have.
I’m sure all I have said today is enough for you. “A word,” the say, “is enough for the wise”.
However if I should drop this pen without tell you this last thing I’m about mentioning, you might find it difficulties to get started, not to even talk about enjoying the process.
I know you might be wondering, “what could it be?”
Probably you might have heard it before, but I’m going to break it down for you and make you see reasons why you should work with it.
The last tip I’ll give you before dropping my own is to learn to simplify your steps. Especially, the first step.
The first step Is always the most difficult.
Right?
Don’t be like a man who goes to the gym the first day, spent 10hrs working out, but fail to keep up. Consistency matters a lot when you want components effect to work in your favor.
Start with what you can keep up with, no matter how little, and keep improving.
Trying to do everything in one day is enough reason to make the the process seems boring and frustrating.
Probably after one week, he feel exhausted. Out of frustration, he decides to quit.
That’s because life doesn’t work that way.
So, how does life works?
Break your steps into smaller units. Mustn’t do everything in one day, and you mustn’t do big thing to achieve great things.
Those small, seemingly insignificant steps completed over time will create a radical difference. And this can still be attributed to the principle of compound effect.
Nothing works like the power of the compounds effect of simple action done over time.
Frank Clark once said, “everyone is trying to accomplish something big, not realizing that this life is made up of little things”.
You can refer to them as “small and mighty”, because with time, they become so big that you start wondering if it’s actually your little actions that brought about this massive changes.
In conclusion, before I drop my pen, know that every little actions you take is capable of making or destroying you. They are fundermental units that contributes massively to your success.
At first the may seem tiny and insignificant, but they build on each other and fuel bigger wins.
Now go set your goal and enjoy the “process” it takes to achieve it.
Start with the little steps and be assure of success.
I’m always here if you need me.
Make my pen rest, I still have other things to talk about.
Bin Mumin.
