[PICTURES]: MSSN Lagos organises special Usrah to commemorate 70th anniversary

Members of the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria, MSSN, Lagos State Area Unit, are converged at Alausa Secretariat Mosque, Ikeja, for a special Usrah to commemorate the society's 70th anniversary.

The Usrah, also known as family gathering, is one of the series of activities marking the platinum jubilee of the Muslim students' body founded on May 30, 1954, at Ansar-Ud-Deen Alakoro Mosque School Hall, Lagos.

While admonishing the students from all the active 47 area councils in the State, the guest speaker, Dr. Abdul Hakeem Abdul Lateef, the immediate past chairman of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), said all various professions are necessities, saying there is one that is compulsory for everyone,which is the knowledge of the Quran and Hadith.

*Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh,*

Alhamdulillah, as we close the curtains on our enriching 10-day Islamic Vacation Course (IVC), I would like to extend the warmest gratitude on behalf of the Muslim Students' Society of Nigeria, Lagos State Area Unit. Our hearts overflow with gratitude to Allah (SWT), for His manifold blessings upon us, His guidance, and safe passage for all our members back to their homes. Indeed, "And if you should count the favors of Allah, you could not enumerate them. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful." - [Quran 16:18].

I commend and appreciate our esteemed delegates and officials. Your presence was pivotal, and your active participation and undivided attention have been the backbone of our programme's success. The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said, "The believer's shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity." - [Al-Tirmidhi]. Thus, your contributions are not just appreciated by us today, but they are investments in your Akhirah (Hereafter).

Our learned lecturers and facilitators warrant a special mention. May Allah (SWT) reward you for illuminating our minds with knowledge. "Are those who know equal to those who do not know?" - [Quran 39:9]. Your efforts in imparting valuable teachings will, Insha'Allah, echo in our actions and character.

As we assimilate the lessons learned from this year's IVC, we must remember our responsibilities towards our fellow brothers and sisters. The situation in Palestine remains an ache in our hearts, and we renew our commitment to their cause. The land of Palestine is entrenched in Islamic history and the hearts of the Ummah. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW) has taught us, "The believer to another believer is like a building whose different parts enforce each other." Hence, I urge you all to remember them in your prayers, increase awareness, and advocate for their rights as guided by our faith. Let us also consider the impact of our consumption choices and seek ways to support their cause by boycotting the products of the Israelis and their allies.

In conclusion, we thank every individual, who has played a role, however big or small, in the success of our camping programme. Together, we have sown the seeds of unity, knowledge, and brotherhood. Let us continue to water these seeds and grow a garden of Islamic virtue and communal strength.

May Allah (SWT) accept our efforts, forgive our shortcomings, and guide us to the straight path. Ameen.

RECORD BREAKER: Celebrating LASU Best Graduating Student, Aminat Yusuf
.She is an Hijab rights activist

A law student, Miss Aminat Yusuf, was on Wednesday announced as the best graduating student of the Lagos State University (LASU) with a perfect Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 5.00.

The Vice-Chancellor of LASU, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, made this known at a press conference to announce the university’s 26th Convocation Ceremonies to hold on June 21.

The convocation is for the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 academic sessions but Olatunji-Bello clarified that Yusuf belonged to the 2021/2022 academic session.

Aminat Yusuf, who is an alumnae of Al-Hikmah College in Lagos, is an Hijab rights activist whom has been published in many news platforms.

The Kogi indigene broke the 40-year 5.0 CGPA record of LASU.

In March 2018, one of her articles titled, "My Hijab : An Appraisal Of The Right To Freedom Of Thought, Conscience And Religion in The Nigerian Constitution" was published in The Nation Newspaper.

She is a distinguished and academically astute Law graduate with a proven track record of excellence, who also balanced this with extracurricular activities.

With developed interest in the areas of Corporate & Commercial Law Practice, intellectual curiosity propelled her to take up finance-based courses, one of which is the CFA Investment Foundations Program. Having interned with Top Law firms, such as Olaniwun Ajayi LP; Primus Grace LP; Omaplex Law Firm and M.A Banire and Associates, the experience garnered thus far and a Certificate Course with Jobberman Soft Skills Training have equipped her with technical skills, relevant soft skills and the right values appealing to success in the Legal Industry.

The Muslim Students' Society of Nigeria, Lagos State Area Unit wishes Yusuf Aminat a sterling career in the Legal Industry and success in life.

MSSNLagos Amir, Miftahudeen Thanni, said the organisation is proud of Aminat's feat and her contribution to hijab rights advocacy in Nigeria.

He also saluted her desire to unravel seeming impossibilities, particularly in the Legal Profession.
