Akinwande Oluwole Babatunde Soyinka Hon. FRSL, known as Wole Soyinka, is a Nigerian playwright, novelist, poet, and essayist.
Born and raised in Abeokuta, Nigeria, he studied in Nigeria and the UK and worked with the Royal Court Theatre in London.
Soyinka was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1986, becoming the first African laureate, and an honorary doctorate from Harvard University in 1993. Alongside his literary career, he worked as an actor in Nigeria and Great Britain.
In 2010, Soyinka founded the Democratic Front for a People’s Federation and served as chairman of the party.

Dr Akinwumi Adesina is a visionary leader and avid convener for a better Africa. Currently the 18th president of the African Development Bank and the first Nigerian to hold this position, Dr Akinwumi Adesina has proven, over time, to be a trailblazer.
After winning an award for an outstanding PhD thesis in 1988, Akinwumi Adesina won the prestigious Rockefeller Foundation Social Science Fellowship in the same year, earning him a spot in the fellowship. Serving across several boards and organisations, Akinwumi returned to Nigeria to occupy the position of Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, from 2011 to 2015. Under his administration, the sector underwent a reform, as his innovative ideas digitised the process by which farmers accessed farm inputs. This impacted the lives of over 15 million farmers across the country.
On May 28, 2015, Akinwumi Adesina was appointed the President of the African Development Bank. Since he got into office, great strides have been recorded by the bank, including the highest capital increase ever recorded since its establishment.
An African committed to the cause of Africans, Adesina started a flagship project, the Desert to Power Project, a renewable energy and economic development initiative which aims to provide solar electricity to 250 million people across 11 Sahel countries. The project will light up and power the Sahel region by building 10GW of electricity capacity through solar energy systems as well as grid and off-grid projects by 2030. Through Adesina's efforts, the project has raised over $160 million in funding.
In recognition of his feats and exemplary work, Akinwumi Adesina is the recipient of several awards, including the World Food Prize, 2019 African of the Year Award, and an honorary doctorate by Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia, on the 14th of May, 2022, for his contributions to economics.
