'BBNaija' winner Ilebaye's outfit at star-studded event causes stir
IBUKUNOLUWA DARAMOLA

The Gen Z baddie stepped out and showed out, and now her outfit has sparked a moral debate.

But the topic of conversation among social media users is the fact that she was topless under the blazer and had nothing but ni**le covers on. Though the covers stood firm protecting her, social media users have been buzzing, stating that she was essentially 'naked' at the event.

Davido held a party to commemorate the launch of his limited edition Martel drink and the event was attended by influential people including fellow Big Brother Naija winner Mercy Eke. In the clips posted to the internet, both ladies mingled, sang, danced and greeted the man of the hour Davido, however, social media users were more fixated on Ilebaye's fit.

Her outfit sparked discourse on Twitter, with some trolling her for being indecent, while others came to her defence noting that her chest was covered.

Despite the fact that she is trending, Ilebaye has not responded to the online criticisms.

COMMENTS:
A Promise on Twitter said, "I know she didn't dress like this when she was in the house (BBN) but after she pulled out as the winner with 120m she has forgotten about the word "DECENCY" Can you imagine what she is wearing showing her breast. So really Money can change someone"

Another Twitter user, Nina Blue, came to the 22-year-old's defense saying, "What is wrong with her outfit? You people should let Ilebaye breathe abeg."

Messi didn’t deserve to win Ballon d’Or over Haaland, others – Singer Bayanni.

Nigerian singer, Oladokun Abimbola Elijah, better known as Bayanni, has said Argentine footballer, Lionel Messi didn’t deserved to win the 2023 men’s Ballon d’Or.

According to him, anyone else could have won it but not Messi.

DAILY POST recalls that Messi saw off competition from Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe and others to win a record-extending eighth award.

Reacting in a recent interview with Cool FM Nigeria, Lagos, Bayanni said the Inter Miami player didn’t do enough to win the award, arguing that a lot of other players have won the World Cup in the past and weren’t handed the Ballon d’Or.

He said, “Based on what I’ve been hearing from people, Messi won the Ballon d’Or because he won the World Cup. But many people collected World Cup trophies in the past and they didn’t win the Ballon d’Or.

“What I’m saying is that it should have been Haaland or somebody else but not Messi.”

I refused to give him my son’s placenta – Mohbad’s wife on r/ship with father inlaw.

Omowunmi Aloba, wife of late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, has narrated that her problem with her father-in-law began after she gave birth to her son.

Wunmi told the Lagos coroner’s inquest on Wednesday that her relationship with Mohbad’s father was strained because she refused to give him her son, Liam’s placenta.

According to her, she only supported Mohbad in this decision and it led to a series of arguments.

Wunmi also debunked Mohbad’s father’s claim that he saw a blood-soaked bucket in Mohbad’s room.

She insisted that the “blood” was from a minor cut and what was soaked up was water.

Haaland scores twice as Manchester City clinchs Champions League last 16 place
Erling Haaland scored twice as holders Manchester City cruised into the last 16 of the Champions League with two group games remaining.

This was after a 3-0 victory over Swiss side Young Boys on Tuesday.

Pep Guardiola’s side maintained their 100 per cent record and led Group G with 12 points from four games.

Young Boys, who were reduced to 10 men when Sandro Lauper was shown a red card in the 53rd minute, are fourth in the group with one point.

“Still the job is not done because we have to finish first because it’s better in the last-16 to have the weapon of the second game at home,” Guardiola said.

“But the first step to qualify is done, (and) we scored two fantastic goals.”

Haaland now has 39 Champions League goals from 34 appearances and is on course to smash the record for fewest appearances to reach 40 goals, which is 45 games by Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The 23-year-old injured his ankle in Saturday’s 6-1 trouncing of Bournemouth in the Premier League, raising questions about whether he would even play on Tuesday.

The one negative on the night was the loss of John Stones, who recently returned from a hip injury but was replaced at halftime after suffering what Guardiola said was a muscle issue.

“He will be awhile out, it’s a pity, it’s bad news for us,” Guardiola said.

City applied pressure from kickoff and Haaland broke the deadlock with a penalty in the 23rd minute after Lauper’s tackle on Matheus Nunes in the box.

The Norwegian striker pumped a fist in the air after sending goalkeeper Anthony Racioppi the wrong way.

Phil Foden doubled City’s lead seconds before halftime when Jack Grealish spotted him out wide.

The England midfielder cut into the box and beat Racioppi with a low shot.

Haaland’s second goal – and fourth in two games against Young Boys – was a beautiful left-footed rocket from 20 yards out in the 51st minute.

Haaland had traded shirts with Young Boys captain Mohamed Ali Camara as they walked off the field at halftime.

He was substituted to a standing ovation from the home crowd a few minutes after his goal.

The score could have been more lopsided as City had numerous near misses including Rico Lewis’s attempt that looked destined for the net before it was cleared off the line by Loris Benito.

Belgian forward Jeremy Doku sent in a pinpoint cross after coming on late in the game, but Nunes could not finish.

“We knew it’s very difficult here, to get a point or a win, you need to have the kind of a game, the perfect game in every phase of the game,” Young Boys manager Raphael Wicky said.

City are unbeaten in their last 17 Champions League games since losing 3-1 away to Real Madrid in the semi-finals in May 2022.

“To qualify with two games to spare, that is what we wanted to do,” Grealish told TNT Sports.

“He (Guardiola) gives us so much. In my opinion, he is the best manager in the world.

“He has shown that over the years. You can have the best manager in the world, but you also need the team.

“And that is what we have, a brilliant team on the pitch but also off the pitch we have a brilliant team that is so close.

“We love being with each other every day and playing with each other.”

City host RB Leipzig on Nov. 28 and then cap the group stage with a visit to Red Star Belgrade on Dec. 13.

Brent Rebounds, after Significant Price Slumps in Oil Market

Brent crude oil price rose moderately midweek while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) slumped further following a significant price slump on Tuesday amidst conflict in the Middle East.

ICE Brent traded at $81.72 per barrel. a 0.13% rise from the closing price of $81.61 a barrel in the previous trading session on Tuesday.

The American benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) traded at the same time at $77.32 per barrel, down 0.06% from Tuesday's close of $77.37 per barrel.

The American Petroleum Institute's (API) announcement on Tuesday of an estimated rise in US crude oil stockpiles of 11.9 million barrels, against the market expectation of a decline of 300,000 barrels, indicated a fall in the world's biggest oil-consuming country's oil demand, driving prices down.

Economic data in China, the world's biggest crude oil importer, raised doubts about the demand outlook. China's customs office reported a year-over-year drop of 6.4% in the country's exports to $274.8 billion, marking the sixth straight month of export declines from China.

Chinese October trade data released yesterday showed a fall in the trade surplus last month with weaker exports. However, imports were stronger, including crude oil. Crude oil imports averaged 11.58MMbbls/d in the month, up 3.7% month on month and 13.5% higher year on year

Analysts said this leaves cumulative imports for the year at 11.41MMbbls/d, up 14.4% year on year, adding that stronger imports over the course of this year may reflect a recovery in domestic demand, while there will also be a fair amount of stock building.

The oil market came under significant pressure yesterday. ICE Brent settled 4.19% lower on the day and traded to its lowest level since July. Meanwhile, WTI settled below US$80 for the first time since August.

The market is clearly less concerned about the potential for Middle Eastern supply disruptions and is instead focused on an easing in the balance, ING commodities strategists said in a note.

They noted that there are clear demand concerns hovering over the market, and supply dynamics have also played a role. For example, Russian seaborne crude oil exports have grown in recent months, which suggests that Russia is not sticking to its additional voluntary cut.

The recent price weakness is likely to lead to growing noise from OPEC+ and in particular from Saudi Arabia, said ING commodities strategist on Wednesday.

Whilst Saudi Arabia and Russia confirmed that they would continue with their additional voluntary cuts through until the year-end, it is increasingly likely that they will extend this into the New Year if this downward pressure continues.

“The Saudis would like to keep Brent above US$80, as this is roughly where their fiscal breakeven price is. Our oil balance shows that the market will be in surplus in 1Q24, so further cuts are something we could certainly see”.

The weakness seen yesterday is likely to continue today, according to ING. The API released inventory numbers overnight which were bearish. US crude oil inventories increased by 11.9MMbbls over the last week, while Cushing crude oil stocks grew by 1.1MMbbls.

For refined products, gasoline inventories fell by 400Mbbls and distillate fuel oil stocks increased by 1MMbbls. The more widely followed EIA inventory report will be released later today.

In the EIA’s latest Short-Term Energy Outlook, there was little change to US crude oil production estimates. US crude oil output is expected to average 12.9MMbbls/d this year, up 1MMbbls/d YoY, while supply growth is expected to be much more modest next year, increasing by less than 250Mbbls/d to average 13.15MMbbls/d

Rashford is fit but Casemiro and Martinez are out long-term, says Ten Hag
Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford is 100 per cent ready to face FC Copenhagen in Wednesday’s Champions League trip after missing last weekend’s 1-0 win at Fulham, manager Erik Ten Hag said.

However, United have been hit with a double injury blow as Brazil midfielder Casemiro and Argentina defender Lisandro Martinez are likely to be sidelined until late December.

“Casemiro and Martinez are really strong injuries, I don’t expect them back before Christmas,” Ten Hag told a news conference on Tuesday.

Casemiro picked up a hamstring injury in the League Cup fourth-round loss at home to Newcastle United last week.

Also, Martinez has had a second operation on a recurring foot problem he first suffered against Sevilla in April.

Rashford, who suffered a knock in training before the Premier League clash, was criticised by Ten Hag for attending his birthday party celebrations.

This was hours after last month’s 3-0 home defeat by Manchester City, calling it “unacceptable”.

“Rashy missed a game because of a small knock. He is 100 per cent (ready). Marcus is very committed to Manchester United.

“He is putting in a lot of work in training to get back to fitness,” Ten Hag said of the England international.

Despite the intense criticism over his side’s performances, the Dutchman was confident they will continue to improve.

“The only thing for us is (to get) three points (at Copenhagen). We have to put ourselves in a position to go through (to the last 16),” he said.

United are third in Group A with three points above the Danish champions who have one point.

Bayern Munich leads the table with nine points ahead of Galatasaray on four.

Ten Hag believes United can get back to winning ways but they need a settled team to produce their best football.

“Getting more to our best eleven and getting routines into the team,” he said.

“So far, we have had to change a lot of things. The balance in midfield is not there.

“I am sure that when we have it, we will play better,” he added.

Customs Service Increases Monthly Revenue Collection from N202bn To N334bn

Controller-General of Nigeria Customs Service, Mr Adewale Adeniyi, says the service has recorded an impressive surge in monthly revenue collection from N202 billion to N333.9 billion in the past four months.

Adeniyi made the declaration on Wednesday in Abuja at a national workshop on legislative compliance.

The workshop has: “The imperatives of legislative compliance in deepening democracy and good governance’’ as its theme.

He said the service collected an average revenue of N202 billion in the first half of the year.

He added that in the past four months, however, monthly revenue collection surged to N333.9 billion between July and October, showing a 65.5 per cent increase.

Adeniyi explained that the Customs partnership with the National Assembly had yielded positive outcomes through a review and enhancement of tariff structures and regulations.

He said the NCS had managed to optimise revenue collection and ensured that funds were available for national development projects.

“One of our early achievements has been a remarkable boost in monthly revenue collection.

“I am delighted to announce that we have consistently exceeded the monthly target collection of N307 billion, marking a remarkable departure from previous performances.

“The joint efforts of the NCS and the legislative arm of government have allowed us to respond effectively to public concerns and petitions,’’ he said.

Speaking on challenges faced by the Customs Service, Adeniyi said it often encountered budgetary constraints that limited its capacity to effectively enforce compliance.

The limitations, he explained, could affect the acquisition of modern technology; the organisation of training and the recruitment of personnel required for effective enforcement.

He stressed that inadequate infrastructure and technology at border posts could impede the Customs Service's ability to inspect and regulate trade effectively, leaving room for non-compliance.
