in an attempt to lose weight, when someone uses a faulty scale to measure one's progress, such individual will be lying to himself. A writer who does not assess his influence and progress is also in this category. He isn't even aware of his value. A writer like that operates with an impulse and will undoubtedly fail. Such a writer gives his content without measures for free until he doesn't have money to buy books to refill his mental space. Life begins to toss him or her around and such a person regret ever being a writer without noticing he is the cause of his own misfortunes. Because writers are naturally voracious readers, they will rely on free and borrowed books to keep themselves stocked before turning to free conferences, they will start asking for free editing, and free publishing. Once the book is published, they will also begin to distribute it without charge. Many of us engage in this activity, yet no profit is ever reported.
Because they don't grasp value, this group of writers doesn't assign a value to anything. When they never pay money to anyone, the law of reciprocity eventually catches up with them. They are still rather malformed. Because they lack a way to evaluate their work and a way to determine what else and where else to focus.
In the absence of a gauge system, a writer starts to cultivate a false sense of entitlement, leading readers to believe that writers and artists not only live in a world of privilege where time is unbounded and there are no bills to pay, but also that their main purpose is to serve the public for free, to be accessible around-the-clock, and to attend to the personal needs of anyone who contacts them.
And how can one break free from such stereotypes when writers believe they know everything since they write guidelines that other people heed? This group of writers occasionally fear they won't have enough money to attend paid trainings.
If you don't have any scale, you can never weigh yourself properly. You can never afford a reviewer either. You will depend on the flattery of social media friends and people's approvals to weigh yourself. Public opinion can be deceiving. They can make an empty writer get filled up with pride and then begin to sink low.
If you don't have a scale, you won't be able to gauge your content level, you will continue to give until there is nothing left of you again and you will stop making sense with your post. If you do not know how much content is left of you, you won't know you need to refill yourself.
Writing must be institutionalized in order to proceed. I've always written, but after I institutionalized my craft, I was hired to ghostwrite a book, write a poem, and take on my first consulting position. Create a writing brand. It will help you evaluate what you write for free and rather you will learn to compile them into a book. When you have a regulator, you will start creating content that will aid in the sale of your goods and services and these will bring with caution to your postings. No more freebies.
