Akoka CDA Chairman, Segun Adesanya bags award for exemplary performance

The Chairman, Akoka CDA, Mr. Segun Adesanya, added another feather to his golden cap with a meritorious service award bestowed on him by Aiyetoro Primary School, , Lagos, describing him as the "Atun-Ilushe of Akoka and its environs"

The Akoka CDA helmsman was rewarded on Tuesday at the school in recognition of his invaluable contributions, selfless and his outstanding activities over the years as the CDA chairman and most especially to the success of Aiyetoro Primary school.

The school management said the meritorious award was in recognition of Adesanya’s remarkable, exemplary performance and sterling contributions to the growth of the Akoka community and its environs.

The Akoka CDA Chairman, Segun Adesanya in a statement, appreciated the school management for the kind recognition and the meritous award accorded to him.

He sincerely appreciated the school management for considering him worthy of the award. He further thanked the school for identifying with the developmental strides embarked upon by the CDA.

It should be noted that Adesanya’s legacy as the CDA chairman speaks volume due to his indelible footprints he initiated. He however, dedicated the award to the good people of Akoka who gave him the opportunity to serve the community.

Bariga LCDA Chairman endorses Akoka Carnival 2019

The Executive Chairman of Bariga LCDA, Hon. Kolade Alabi David has solidly thrown his weight behind the Carnival 2019 slated to hold on Saturday, December 7th 2019.

The LCDA Chairman, Hon. Kolade Alabi who received the Akoka Carnival team, led by its CDA Chairman, Segun Adesanya commended the efforts of the CDA and most especially the Carnival team towards the success of this year's event.

During the courtesy visit, the Chairman promised to personally attend this year's Carnival with full complement of the council members. He further pledged to provide a bus at the council secretariat to convey interested individuals to-and-fro on the day of the Carnival.

The CDA Chairman, Segun Adesanya on behalf of the Akoka community, appreciated Hon. Hon Alabi Kolade David for his sincere commitment to leadership activities as the Executive head of the Bariga LCDA, He further expressed his gratitude to him (Hon. Kolade) for his tremendous support towards the success of this year's Carnival.

It should be recalled that this year’s Akoka carnival has been endorsed by the Lagos State Government alongside the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Bariga LCDA, top personalities and government officials, and many others. Similarly, many companies have also shown their support towards the success of this year's event.

According to the 2019 Akoka Carnival team, they've reassured residents that this year’s carnival promises to be filled with so much sensation, excitement and side attractions such as carnival trains, cultural display and many more.

AKOKA CARNIVAL 2019 TO HOLD DECEMBER 7TH

All plans are concurrently in motion ahead of another beautiful and colorful edition of the Akoka Carnival 2019 as proudly organized by the Akoka Community Development Association, Bariga, Lagos.

It is no longer news that the auguries of the Akoka Carnival 2019 has continued to gather much momentum alongside wide spread popularity owing to the unrelenting efforts of the Akoka Carnival 2019 committee in making this year's event a topnotch.

It should be of note that this annual carnival organized by the Akoka Community Development Association has grown and metamorphosed into a more bigger platform connecting up to more than 20 streets in Akoka and also attracting visitors/wide spectators.

Streets comprising Abayomi, Wulemotu, Finbarrs, Ayetoro, Bright Oridami, Emily Akinola, Community, Olanrewaju, Afolabi Brown, Tunde Bello, Abegunde, Moronfolu and many others are expected to put up different artistic display and colorful performances in this year's carnival.

In a bid to further strengthen this year's carnival, the Akoka carnival committee has continued to trail the blaze in securing more partnership and endorsement deals.

Most importantly, the Special Adviser, Tourism and Culture to Lagos state governor, Mr. Bode Oki during a courtesy visit to his office gave the community maximum support and also also assured that the Lagos state government will take full responsibility of the carnival in other subsequent editions due to the giant strides recorded by the community in recent years.

As part of the plans to ensure the Akoka Carnival for this year is a beehive of frolic activities, this year's edition will be themed as “Akoka Arise” and as such, it's expected to feature series of colorful display of performances from the Bariga Artiste forum, carnival procession from different bands, acrobatic display and other numerous side attractions from all age grades.

Bariga LCDA Chairman approves rehabilitation of Finbarrs road, Akoka

Road work to commence on Tuesday
Motorists urged to bear with the phase

The state of roads in Bariga has been the subject of interest among citizens in the past few weeks. In a bid to further mitigate this growing concern, the Chairman, Bariga Local Council Development Area, Hon. Kolade Alabi has approved the immediate rehabilitation of Finbarrs road, Akoka.

It should recalled that during the courtesy visit of the Bariga LCDA Chairman, Hon. Kolade Alabi to the Akoka Community on Thursday, He spent time inspecting some of the roads being worked on and also assessing the quality of work and materials used.

In conjunction with the Akoka CDA, the Finbarrs road rehabilitation project is expected to be carried out on Tuesday next week by Bariga Road Maintenance Agency (BROMA), an agency saddled with responsibility of fixing roads/road maintenance in Bariga.

The pain experienced by road users in the past few days and also compounded by persistent downpour has also further prompted the Bariga LCDA chairman and his entourage to also be on ground next week Tuesday to supervise and monitor the work.

The Akoka CDA Chairman, Mr. Segun Adesanya in a statement released, appealed to all residents to bear with phase saying "It's a time of sacrifice for all". He further urged residents to also join in contributing their own quota to community development, while continuous efforts are being made to assuage and bring a permanent relief.

He further disclosed that the Akoka CDA traffic team will readily be on ground to divert the traffic and maintain normalcy on the day of the rehabilitation, hence there won't be any cause for alarm.

Akoka CDA felicitates with Remi Olaniyan on his 60th Birthday celebration and Retirement

On behalf of the Akoka community, the Akoka CDA Executives warmly felicitate with the Secretary, Akoka CDA and a wonderful member of the Community; a trailblazer who's gracefully simple, mentally brilliant and physically lithe - Mr. Remi Olaniyan on the auspicious double celebration of his birthday today and retirement from the Lagos state Civil service.

It's often said that the most influential people on earth are those who leave indelible footprints in the sands of time, they are also the ones who leave behind incredible legacies because they will live on in the hearts of the people they touch, it is on this note that the Akoka community is indeed lucky and blessed to have an icon and enigma of Mr. Remi Olaniyan as our erudite Secretary and one who has consistently supported the activities of the CDA growth over the years.

As a community which houses men of great reputation, Mr. Remi Olaniyan is one of our greatest assets. He's a leader, father and a trailblazer. We are indeed appreciative of his rare loyalty to the Akoka CDA as the first and only Secretary of the community.

In the words of eulogy by the Akoka CDA Chairman, Mr. Segun Adesanya, He described Mr. Remi Olaniyan as a man who is true, loyal, faithful, fearless, accommodating, vibrant, straight-forward, amiable, kind hearted, a good adviser, contended human being, focused and a sincere Akoka Executive member.

"Remi Olaniyan is a rare gift to Akoka community. A blessing to this community. May you live long in the land of the living and continue to eat the fruits of your sincere labor". He prayed.

It's on this note that we join hundreds of well-wishers you have influenced and inspired to wish you a heartfelt birthday. We thank you once again for your immense and significant contributions to Akoka CDA dreams through your conscious and continuous support in all ramifications.

Akoka CDA to hold Pre-Carnival Road Show in honour of Late Baale Isaale Akoka

Barring the unforseen, the Akoka community development association, Bariga is set to celebrate its pre-carnival road show on October 1st in honour of late Olusegun Sikiru Aroyewun, Baale of Isale Akoka.

The 2019 Akoka pre-carnival road show which is going to be a beehive of colorful display of aesthetics, preludes the main carnival event which is to hold in December amidst pomp and pageantry.

The Akoka CDA Chairman, Segun Adesanya stated that this year's pre-carnival road show which is expected to herald the carnival in December, will be in honour of late Baale Aroyewun who died at the age of 71.

He noted that late Baale Aroyewun contributed enormously and immensely well to the growth and development of the Akoka community and most especially he acted as a major financier for the pre-carnival road show during his lifetime.

Adesanya who described the late baale as the man of the people in Akoka stated that the community would continue to remember his tremendous impact and significant contributions he made during his lifetime to Akoka CDA and the community at large.

The road show which is going to be an awareness for the bigger carnival in December will feature colorful display of performance from the Bariga Artiste forum, cultural troupes and many other side attractions.

The pre-carnival road show is expected to kick-start by 7:00am on October 1st which also doubles as the nation's independence day with the starting point as "Car wash, Moronfolu Street, Akoka". Everyone is invited to join the awareness train with an assurance of maximum security guaranteed.

Community holds Fidau prayer in honour of late Akoka Baale

The eighth day prayer (Fida’u) for High Chief, Olusegun Sikiru Aroyewun, Baale of Isale Akoka was held on Friday in Bariga, Lagos State, amid praises and commendations.

Baale Aroyewun who was installed in 2008 according to congenital rights, died at the age of 71, after a brief illness.

The late Baale’s residence was full of sympathizers who came to mourn the late chief. The Nation observed that markets and shops around the community were closed.

The event had in attendance prominent Chiefs and Baales’, Muslim clerics, APC stalwarts, Bariga LCDA/ALGON National President, Hon. Kolade David Alabi; Akoka CDA Chairman, Segun Adesanya, resident members of Akoka and Bariga Community and other sympathizers.

On Friday, the Akoka community and the family of the late Baale held a 8-day Fidau prayer in honor of High Chief, Olusegun Sikiru Aroyewun, Baale ..

Baale Aroyewun contributed enormously and immensely well to the giant strides attained by Akoka CDA over the years. The Akoka community has not only lost a father-figure but also a man filled with rich history and character.
