VDM’s missing N180m NGO funds was not reported to us. We are not the ones handling the matter - Plateau police PRO

The Plateau State police command has denied involvement in the investigation into the alleged hacking incident of VeryDarkMan’s NGO and diversion of N180 million from the account.

Reacting to the report made by VDM in a video shared on his social media, the spokesperson of the command, DSP Alabo Alfred, said the command has not received any report from the social critic and that the crime was not committed within their jurisdiction.

“The matter is not reported to us. We are not the ones handling the matter because the crime was not committed within our jurisdiction. If he said he is coming to Jos, that does not mean that we are the ones handling the case.

The crime happened in Abuja. So, he is not coming to Jos to report an incident that did not happen within our jurisdiction. If he reported the case at the Force CID level, it is the Force PRO who can speak about it.

If he reported the case at the FCT Command level, it would be a different thing. Of course, the Force PPRO can talk about it as well. If he can get police officers from where he reported the case, they can all come together to Jos and do their investigation.

After that, they can report back to where they came from and continue from there. But we can’t talk on a matter that did not happen within our jurisdiction” Alabo said

VDM in the video he released on Friday claimed that hackers diverted N180 million from his NGO’s account and that one of the hackers has been arrested in Jos, Plateau state. He stated that he was on his way to Jos with one of the detectives handling the matter.

Horrific moment Azerbaijan airlines plane cr@shes with 72 on board on Christmas Day

This is the horrific moment a passenger plane with 72 people on board hit the ground in a fireball in a Christmas Day crash landing in Kazakhstan.

The Azerbaijan Airlines passenger aircraft crashed near Kazakhstan’s Aktau Airport close to the Caspian Sea on Wednesday morning, December 25, Kazakh authorities said, with up to 40 people feared de@d.

The aircraft was flying from Baku in Azerbaijan to Grozny in Russia, the Transport Ministry said in a post to its official Telegram channel. It was rerouted to Aktau in Kazakhstan due to fog in Grozny, Russian news agencies reported.

Footage of the crash showed the plane bursting into flames as it hit the ground and thick black smoke then rising. 

Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations said that the plane was carrying 69 people — 64 passengers and five crew members.

The ministry said 29 people survived the crash, with many hospitalized.

Two children were among those hospitalized, the ministry said in a post to its Telegram channel.

Kazakhstan’s deputy health minister told ABC News that some of those taken to hospital are in critical condition.

Kazakh authorities have initiated an investigation into the crash, focusing on reported bird strike, mechanical failure and the decision to reroute the flight due to adverse weather conditions, Kazakh aviation authorities told ABC News.

Among the passengers were 37 Azerbaijani citizens, six from Kazakhstan, three from Kyrgyzstan, and 16 from Russia, the Transport Ministry said in a statement, citing “preliminary data.”

Azerbaijan Airlines said in a post to X that the aircraft “made an emergency landing” around 2 miles from Aktau. The aircraft was an Embraer 190 model with flight number J2-8243, it said.

NDLEA arrests businessman at Kano airport for body packing large consignment of co***ne

Attempt by an import and export businessman, Olisaka Chibuzo Calistus to smuggle 256 wraps of co***ne weighing 6 kilograms into the country through the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, MAKIA, Kano, has been thwarted by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.

A statement released by the spokesperson of the anti-drug agency, Femi Babafemi, says the seizure, which is the single largest interception of co***ne at the Kano airport since the creation of MAKIA Command of NDLEA in 2006 was made on Sunday 15th December 2024 during the inward clearance of passengers on Ethiopian Airlines flight ET 941 from Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire via Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Olisaka who claims to be into import and export business was subjected to body screening during which he was found to have packed hundreds of co***ne pellets in his body.

A similar attempt by an ex-convict, Olanrewaju Bada Akorede to export a consignment of rohypnol to South Africa through the export shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA Ikeja Lagos, was equally frustrated by NDLEA officers at the airport. The consignment was hidden in a cargo containing gari, shoes, men’s singlets and other items.

Olarenwaju was convicted for a similar crime earlier this year following his arrest on 12th December 2023 for attempting to ship 4.90kg tramadol and 2.10kg rohypnol to South Africa through the export shed of the Lagos airport. He was sentenced to two years imprisonment by a Federal High Court in Lagos with an option to pay a fine of N900, 000, which he paid and was freed before returning to repeat the same crime.

SImilarly, an Italy-based businesswoman Cynthia Akaeen was on Wednesday 18th December arrested by NDLEA officers while trying to board a Royal Air Maroc flight to Italy via Addis Ababa. According to her, she was promised 1,000 Euros upon successful delivery of the consignment in Italy.
