Discussing Affordable Housing Development with SDP Presidential Candidate Prince Adewole Adebayo
Housing is one of the most prized tangible possessions on the planet. The Federal Republic of Nigeria's 1999 Constitution mandates that the State direct its policy toward ensuring that suitable and adequate shelters are provided for all Nigerians.
There are almost 180 million people living in Nigeria, and there is a severe housing shortage nationwide. According to statistics, Nigeria has a housing shortage of over 17 million homes and an occupancy rate of more than six people per home.
Many Nigerians endure horrific living conditions in shanty towns, slums, and unfinished structures unfit for human occupancy. Therefore, a comprehensive strategy is required to address the housing challenge in Nigeria.
SDP administration would conduct an audit to ascertain the extent of housing need, review housing policies to make the process more efficient and result-oriented, and overhaul the National Housing Scheme and Federal Mortgage Bank to improve their performance.
The government will also start, promote, and drive a housing revolution by constructing the first 1,000,000 housing units, which will be finished within 6 years. It will also make public-private partnerships (PPP) more efficient and effective.
The National Housing Fund (NHF), housing fundraising efforts through donors and aid organizations, and loans from national and international institutions will all be used to finance the housing project.
The expected advantages of this housing revolution include the stimulation of national economic growth, strengthening of confidence, and improvement of quality of life (lower incidence of diseases, better health).
It will also raise the average life span, boost national pride, and enhance security for citizens.
The goal of Prince Adewole Adebayo is to create a housing sector that offers Nigerians safe, secure, respectable, and environmentally friendly homes in a fresh, trustworthy, and stable political system.
By successfully carrying out its Housing Revolution, the government of Prince Adewole Adebayo will have a significant impact in this direction.
