I have been calling you, inviting you to come, but you would not listen. You paid no attention to me. 25. You have ignored all my advice and have not been willing to let me correct you. 26. So when you get into trouble, I will laugh at you. I will make fun of you when terror strikes--- 27. when it comes on you like a storm, bringing fierce winds of trouble, and you are in pain and misery. 28. Then you will call for wisdom, but I will not answer. You may look for me everywhere, but you will not find me. 29. You have never had any use for knowledge and have always refused to obey the LORD. 30. You have never wanted my advice or paid any attention when I corrected you. 31. So then, you will get what you deserve, and your own actions will make you sick.

Humans are fearful beings. Survival is our primary goal, and the fear of death is one that many people struggle with for their entire lives. God has given us the chance to live without that primary fear. God has allowed all Christians to not fear judgment day and enjoy everlasting life. God’s love for us is without fear, but can we say the same? This should be our ultimate goal, one that we must strive for. The reward: a life in heaven, next to our savior, Jesus Christ.

Between the lines of thousands of verses within the Bible, one may find the joy and exultation of celebrating the name of the Lord. Ours is not as some might claim, a God of pure vengeance. He is as a Father unto us, endowing us with the gift of light, love, and even laughter. David’s Psalms particularly details this joy, of celebration, recommending we sing our thanks and praises to our God in whatever manner we see fit. In David’s time, literally singing was a popular activity, owing to how affordable it was. Whilst this method is still available to all –even the tone deaf-, many more ways of praising his name is open to us today, ‘singing’ here need not be literal; what matters is the sentiment.

Men are but limited in death. Their reach in this world only so far, their character only so good as their last breath. This goes as much for our enemies, despots, or unbelievers as ourselves. But count yourselves lucky, for only those who truly believe in our Christ and savior shall know the eternal beyond this. Only we understand that life is beyond these earthly foibles.

We throw the word "love" around so much that it has become meaningless. We "love" that new restaurant. We "love" that movie. We "love" pizza. We "love" our friend's new purse. We "love" New York. We say it so much that it doesn't seem to mean as much when we say it to each other, or to God. We must remind ourselves of what love truly is: God. God is love. Everything about Him is love. It not the love of the latest fad, or the yummiest dessert. It is the deep abiding love of a God who created us and who gave His only Son for us, so that we might not perish. Without God, it is impossible to love anyone else. All love comes from Him. Through His love, we are compelled to love others. Apart from Him, there is no such thing as love. Love is the most powerful force in the world, and it comes from only one place: God.
