According to Fada Oluoma a Nation that prioritizes payment of tithe over tax will be poor compared to a nation that pays tax"
This is coming from a man whose entire welfare is the responsibility of the church, forgetting that the Catholic Church thrives in the sale of religious items that are taxed.
Perhaps Fada wants the federal government to start collecting taxes from the Catholic church to develop Nigeria.
In 2023 FIRS collected 37 trillion naira in taxes, which means FIRS surpassed the budgeted target by N816 billion.
The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has exceeded its 2023 revenue target by N816 billion, reflecting a 107% performance over the set goal.
The figure is outside oil revenue; it is outside Road safety, customs, immigration, NAFDAC, and other nonoil related revenue generating institutions.
If you add the revenue collected by the federal Inland revenue service to oil, there is enough money to make Nigeria prosperous.
Which is also an indicator that Nigerians are paying taxes. Bearing in mind, the Nigerian government is not running a Religious administration, whether Islam or Christianity.
We can't continue to blame Religion over the failed leadership of politicians because we want to make the world happy with those petty statements against Religious practices.
In many states today, IGR is being collected even from the poor people whose care is the responsibility of the Government.
After taking control of our collective resources in Nigeria, we still pay taxes from our hard-earned money to be included in the resources under the control of the Government.
Why does tithe make people uncomfortable?
