Imagine a world where our children can no longer speak the languages of their ancestors.
In this video, two young girls—one Esan, one Edo—struggle to express themselves in their native tongues. This heartbreaking reality is becoming far too common in our communities.
It's time to take action! Let's bring our local languages back to the classrooms—not just as subjects but as languages of instruction. Teaching our children in their mother tongues fosters a stronger cultural identity, deeper understanding, and pride in their heritage. English can remain in its rightful place—in English class—but our indigenous languages must take center stage in shaping our children's education and future.
Let’s not allow our heritage to fade away.
