How helping fake pregnant woman in Lagos made me unconscious for 2 days ~ 43-yr-old victim narrates
A 43-year-old Toyota car owner identified as Eguono Onodjae has explained how helping a pregnant woman along the Iyana Ipaja terminal bridge, in Lagos made him unconscious for 2 days.
According to him, he was unconscious for days after offering to give a pregnant woman with her child standing at the terminal bridge a lift in his car.
Explaining to Vanguard, Eguono said, “It happened on Tuesday night. I reside at Abule Egba. I drove to Alausa for an official assignment, and while coming back, I decided to park at a filling station in Egbeda and use public transport to Coconut in Apapa.
“After my engagement at Coconut, I came back to the filling station, picked up my car, and headed back home. This was about 9:20 pm. While driving, I saw a woman, pregnant with a boy beside her. I believe they were also heading to Abule Egba, my destination. To help, I stopped and unlocked my car with my car window down and told her to enter.
“Immediately after she entered the front seat, some guys rushed themselves and joined her, opening my back door. All I could remember was that the supposed pregnant woman poured something pepperish on my eyes and used a handkerchief to cover my face.
Police arrest three men for rustling 132 rams in Niger.
Three men have been arrested for rustling a total of 132 rams in Mashegu Local Government Area of Niger State.
The suspects are Mohammed Abdullahi Chumo, 30, of Ukoro, Kwara State, Aliyu Salihu, 20, of Gwadabawa, Sokoto State and Arzika Ahmadu, 25, also of Gwadabawa, Sokoto State.
Spokesman of the Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said the suspects confessed to the crime during interrogation.
He explained that they conspired and rustled 132 rams from two victims who were grazing the rams around Manigi area of Mashegu LGA.
Suspected herdsmen kill civil servant in Edo.
Suspected herdsmen have reportedly killed a civil servant identified as Inofomoh Gabriel at his farm in Jattu community, the headquarters of Uzairue clan in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.
The incident happened last Wednesday.
A source who disclosed this to newsmen said the deceased also worked at Auchi Polytechnic before his untimely death.
He said his co**se was discovered on Saturday in the bush with several machete cuts all over his body.
The source who spoke on condition of anonymity said they suspected that the farmer might have been killed by herders who have been kidnapping farmers in their farms in the area and in some cases killed some of their victims.

Naira appreciated by N660 against dollar since BDCs’ return to FX market ~ Gwadabe.
The President of the Association of Bureaux de Change Operators of Nigeria, ABCON, Aminu Gwadabe, says the Naira appreciated by N660 against the US dollar since the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Olayemi Cardoso, recalled BDC operators into the Foreign Exchange Market.
Gwadabe disclosed this in a statement at the weekend.
According to him, aside from monetary policy tightening that led to an increase in the exchange rate, more investment in government instruments and clearance of $7 billion forex backlog, the recall of the BDCs was also a significant move by the apex bank to boost dollar liquidity at the retail end of the forex market.
Gwadabe stressed that the Naira has appreciated from February’s low of N1,915 per USD to N1,255 per USD, representing N660 gains for the Naira, which is significant by all measures.
The ABCON president expressed gratitude to the Cardoso-led CBN and other related agencies for recognizing BDCs as the third leg of the foreign exchange market and an effective exchange rate transmission mechanism in forex management.
Man kills childhood friend over motorcycle, sells it for N130,000.
The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 39-year-old fruit seller, Dolapo Babalola, for allegedly killing his childhood friend, Evangelist Opeyemi Oyelakin, 34.
Following the killing, Babalola and another suspect, Sikiru Mutiu, who has been declared wanted, stole the motorcycle of the deceased, which he was using for commercial purposes, and sold it in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, for N130,000.
The suspect, who confessed to the crime, stated that on March 15, he deceived the deceased to take him to Oke-Igbo, a few kilometres from Ondo town, to check a piece of land.
According to Babalola, on getting to the land, which was situated inside a bush, Sikiru grabbed the deceased from behind while he struck him to death with a stick and stone.
With the family of the deceased disturbed by the whereabouts of the father of one, a complaint was lodged, after which detectives swung into action and arrested Babalola at his residence in Ondo town, headquarters of the Ondo West Local Council Area of the state, after the tracking of the call logs of the deceased.
Police raid IPOB/ESN hideout in Enugu, kill two.
The Police Command in Enugu State says it has raided hideouts of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and its Eastern Security Network, ESN, arm in the Akwuke axis of Enugu metropolis.
The police operatives met with resistance from the renegades who opened fire upon sighting them, but were subdued by the superior firepower of the police, leading to the killing of two members of the group.
The Command’s Spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, said in a statement on Sunday that the Police conducted the raid on Saturday at about 2:30 a.m.
He said other members of the outlawed group escaped with various gunshot wounds.
He said one AK-47 rifle, one Sub-Machine Gun (SMG), one stainless Pump-Action Gun (PAG), 27 live and 23 expended rounds of 7.62 mm calibre ammunition were recovered after the raid and gun duel.
According to him, police also recovered five live cartridges and a small blue-coloured Gideon New Testament Bible probably used to conceal objects suspected to be charm

No political appointee will take salary before pensioners, civil servants ~ Otti vows.
Abia State Governor, Alex Otti has directed that civil servants and pensioners in Abia State must receive their salaries before political office holders are paid.
This is even as he has lamented that pensioners were owed for so long by previous administrations in the state, before the backlog of the unpaid pensions were cleared by his administration.
Governor Otti said this in his Easter message to Abia citizens, wondering why retired civil servants who served the state were denied their pensions for so long.
He noted that paying people their pensions should not be a subject of excitement but explained that the joy in the faces of the retirees stemmed from the fact that they were owed for too long.
Trump demands Biden to apologize for declaring Easter Sunday ‘Trans Day of Visibility’.
Former President Trump has called for an immediate apology from President Joe Biden to millions of Christians and Catholics for proclaiming Easter Sunday as Trans Visibility Day.
Trump campaign said that the action is part of the Biden administration’s ‘years-long assault on the Christian faith.’
Trump’s demand for an apology from President Biden came after prominent politicians and conservative commentators declared outrage over the ‘Transgender Day of Visibility’ on the most solemn Christian holiday.
House Speaker, Mike Johnson posted on X saying that “The Biden White House has betrayed the central tenet of Easter — which is the resurrection of Jesus Christ,” Banning sacred truth and tradition—while at the same time proclaiming Easter Sunday as ‘Transgender Day’—is outrageous and abhorrent. The American people are taking note.”
Biden sparked fury over the week by declaring March 31 “Transgender Day of Visibility,” which this year is also Easter Sunday.
However, Trump’s national press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, called it “appalling and insulting” that Biden “formally proclaimed Easter Sunday as ‘Trans Day of Visibility.’”
Leavitt said Biden’s announcement is an example of his administration’s “years-long assault on the Christian faith.”
“We call on Joe Biden’s failing campaign and the White House to issue an apology to the millions of Catholics and Christians across America who believe tomorrow is for one celebration only — the resurrection of Jesus Christ,” she said.

Nigerian College of Aviation Technology has no training helicopter after selling 2 choppers to private individuals.
The Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, NCAT, Zaria, has no single helicopter for training, the Acting Rector of the institution, Shaka Imalighwe, has disclosed.
He made the disclosure during an investigative hearing organised by the House of Representatives to probe the sale of two helicopters belonging to the College.
Imalighwe told the House of Representatives Committee on Public Assets that he took over the management of the College in an acting capacity in January 2024.

The Rivers State House of Assembly on Saturday threatened to impeach the state governor, Sim Fubara.
The assembly said it “will not hesitate to impeach Fubara, if it becomes the last resort to uphold the Constitution.”
Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, disclosed this during a media briefing in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
The Speaker was flanked by 26 of his colleagues.
This is as the 27 lawmakers loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, took a swipe at the former Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Council, led by Dr Abiye Sekibo, over its recent attack on Wike.
In 2023, the lawmakers had threatened to impeach the governor following his face-off with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Soldier stabs trader to death over price of carpet.
A supposed soldier, on Saturday, stabbed a 27-year-old trader to death over the price of a carpet in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The incident, which happened around Arakale area of Akure metropolis, led to the blockage of major roads in the area by some aggrieved traders and colleagues of the deceased.
An eyewitness, who identified himself simply as Chibuka, told newsmen that trouble started when the deceased tried to stop the man from beating and harassing a co-trader, who is a nursing mother, over the price of a carpet.
He said the interference led to an argument between the deceased and the “customer.”
