Fake Soldier Arrested for Abducting, Robbing Man in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) has apprehended a 42-year-old man, Kingsley Wanogho, for allegedly impersonating a military officer, abducting a young man in Ikeja, and robbing him of his iPhone 13 and money.

Wanogho, reportedly a dismissed army sergeant and ex-convict, was arrested on Saturday near Computer Village, Ikeja, after one of his victims, Solomon, identified him.

In a statement released on Wednesday via X.com, the RRS revealed that the incident occurred on December 30, 2024.

The suspect accused Solomon of knocking into him and claimed that the collision caused him to lose a gold ring. He demanded that Solomon produce the ring or face severe consequences.

The suspect claimed to be an army officer and displayed a fake military ID card to intimidate his victim. He threatened to take Solomon to the army barracks in Oshodi if he failed to produce the ring.”

Wanogho reportedly called an accomplice, who arrived on a motorcycle, to aid in transporting Solomon.

However, instead of heading to the barracks, the duo drove Solomon to the Third Mainland Bridge. There, they stole his iPhone 13 and money before abandoning him.

Further investigations revealed that Wanogho sold the stolen iPhone 13 for ₦150,000 at Computer Village, Ikeja. Items recovered from him during his arrest included a Nigerian Army fez cap and a fake Nigerian Army identification card.

The RRS statement also noted that
Wanogho has been transferred to the Commissioner of Police’s Special Squad for further investigation.

This incident is a reminder for Lagos residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to law enforcement authorities promptly.

Timileyin Ajayi was apprehended on Sunday, Jan. 12, near a church in Orozo, Abuja.
He was seen carrying a black nylon, with flies following him and the bag.

Ajayi, said to be from Kabba in Kogi state, was searched and a fresh hum@n he@d was seen in the bag.

While being questioned by police in a video shared online, Ajayi is seen dislosing that he had dated the lady for one year, before k!lling her.

Boko Haram kills two Christians in Borno, burns church

Boko Haram terrorists have attacked the community in Borno State and killed two persons while also razing down a church.

The village is called Bamzir village under Whuntaku District, Chibok Local Government Area.

In a statement, the media team of the local government chairman of Chibok LGA Mustapha Madu said the terrorists attacked around 2:10 am Sunday and set many houses ablaze resulting in the death of two blood brothers identified as Josiah Pogu Pudza, a student of SS Two, and Enoch Pogu Pudza while one Esther Yohanna sustained a bullet injury.

The statement noted that the terrorists carted away food items and livestock, and razed down the EYN LCC church auditorium, and several houses and shops.

The two persons were buried early morning. The chairman of the LGA Mustapha Madu was in attendance.

Mustapha condoled with the family of the bereaved and also inspected all burnt houses, shops, and the church auditorium.

Terrorists Kill Telecoms Workers

The incident came just at the same time some suspected Lakurawa terrorists killed several persons in North-Western state of Kebbi.

Owerri Catholic Archdiocese breaks silence on priest who killed boy for ‘shooting knockout’ during cross over service

The Catholic archdiocese of Owerri has reacted to the killing of young boy at St. Columbus Catholic Church in the Amaimo area of Imo state by its priest identified as Joseph Enyinnaya on New Year’s eve day.

TheNewsGuru reported that Enyinaya of St Colombus Catholic Church Obodo Amaimo shot and killed a young boy with a cartidge gun on Tuesday night, at about 10: 45pm during the New Year Mass when he set off a banger inside the church.

While confirming the tragic incident in a statement on Friday, the archbishop of Owerri diocese, Lucius Ugorji, expressed deep regret for the happening.

Nigerian Doctor Who Returned To His Village For Xmas P0isoned To death

A tragic incident has occurred in Nenu, Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State, where a Nigerian medical doctor, identified as Tony, reportedly died after consuming a drink allegedly laced with poison by his kinsman.

The incident took place on Boxing Day, leaving the community in shock and mourning.

Prince Agbara, a friend of the deceased, shared the heartbreaking news on Facebook. According to Agbara, Dr. Tony, who was alive and well on Christmas Day, tragically lost his life the following day after consuming the poisoned drink.

Customs officer, wife, four children burnt to death while asleep in Osun
A devastating fire has engulfed the residence of a Customs officer,
The Point gathered that the family members had gone to bed when the fire broke out in the midnight.
The tragedy struck in the early hours of Monday.

Members of the community have been thrown into shock and mourning.
A neighbour, Kola, who witnessed the tragic event, said, “I can’t say when the fire started, but we observed smoke there at about 3am.
“The response time of the firemen was not bad, but the house had been badly affected before the fire could be subdued. Kabiru, his wife, and four children were already burnt to death. But one of the children escaped.”
According to Kola, firefighters from the Ede Fire Station were promptly contacted after smoke was detected.
However, by the time they arrived, the fire had already consumed much of the house.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Osun State Fire Service, Ibraheem Adekunle, shared a statement signed by the Director of the Service, Mr Olaniyi Alimi.
The statement read, “We were informed of the incident via a distress call to our emergency number 08030808254 at 3:21 a.m. Our team from Ede Zonal Command proceeded to the scene, with a backup team joining from the Fire Service Headquarters in Abere.
