This week in 1980, Vigdís Finnbogadóttir became the President of Iceland and the first democratically elected female head of state in the world.

She was narrowly elected in 1980, obtaining 33.6 percent of the national vote, while her nearest rival received 32.1 percent.

Her popularity soared, leading to subsequent re-elections three times: unopposed in 1984, with 94.6 percent of the votes against another woman in 1988, and unopposed in 1992.

In 1996, she decided not to run for re-election.

She is the world’s longest-serving female president at 16 years in office.

"Airline roof ripped off in mid-air ✈️

In April 28, 1988. The roof an Airline’s Jet ripped off in mid-air at 24000 feets.

The cockpit door had broken away and the captain and the people in it could see the blue sky, leaving only half of the entire top of the aircraft skin.

One fatality occurred, a 58-year-old flight attendant named Clarabelle "C.B." Lansing, was swept out of the airplane because she was standing near the fifth-row seats; but till today her body was never found.

But the plane still managed to land safely"

In the 13th century, Frederick II, emperor of Germany, wanted to know the language babies will naturally speak if they were allowed to grow up without communication from other people.

He thought the natural language of the babies would be either Hebrew, Greek, Latin or Arabic.

To find out the correct answer to his curiousity-based question, the emperor placed 50 nẹ́wborn bãbies in the care of nurses who would only feed and bathe them. The nurses or anyone else weren't allowed to speak with the bàbies, speak in their presence or play with them.

All the babies dị́ēd within few months.

Thomas Sowell got this for you 👇

"You can fail to achieve any of the things you planned and still live a happy and fulfilled life, because of opportunities that come along that you never planned for. But these opportunities can be missed if you stick doggedly to your preconceived blueprint." 👣👣

The PICTURE and my THOUGHTS 💭

One thing is to get what you want, another thing is to enjoy it. That's why you can come a far distant third and be happier than the winner, and your joy may make the winner think he was the loser. Positive attitude.

In other words, if you are satisfied with what you have, you will be the happiest person and even the wealthiest will be jealous of you.

Have a positive weekend!

ORIGINS OF APRIL FOOL'S DAY

The origins of April Fool's Day are not entirely clear, and there are many theories about how the tradition began.

One popular theory dates back to the 16th century when the Julian calendar was replaced with the Gregorian calendar in many parts of Europe. The new calendar moved the start of the new year from April 1st to January 1st. Those who continued to celebrate the new year in April were ridiculed as fools.

Another theory suggests that April Fool's Day has its roots in an ancient Roman festival called Hilaria, which was held in honor of the goddess Cybele. During the festival, people would play pranks on each other and wear disguises

Others believe that the tradition of April Fool's Day began in the 14th century when Geoffrey Chaucer wrote a poem called "The Canterbury Tales," which contained a reference to the date of April 1st as a day of foolishness.

Whatever the true origins may be, April Fool's Day has evolved over time and today, people celebrate this wacky tradition by playing harmless pranks and practical jokes on their friends and family....✍️
