Oba Okunade Sijuwade, CFR, was the 50th Ooni of Ife, a prominent traditional ruler in Yorubaland, Nigeria. Born on January 1, 1930, he ascended the throne on December 6, 1980, and served until his death on July 28, 2015. His reign spanned over 35 years, during which he played a key role in promoting Yoruba culture, heritage, and unity.

Before becoming the Ooni, Oba Sijuwade had a successful business career. He studied at Abeokuta Grammar School and later attended Northampton College in the UK, where he studied business management. He worked in various sectors including the automotive and real estate industries, establishing a reputation as a skilled businessman.

As the Ooni, he was known for fostering peace and development in Ife and beyond. He was also influential in Nigerian political and cultural spheres, acting as a bridge between traditional institutions and the modern state. Oba Sijuwade held the national honor of Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR) for his contributions to Nigeria.

His passing in 2015 marked the end of an era, and he was succeeded by the current Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.
