*NASARAWA STATE PILGRIMS BOARD SET TO CLOSE PAYMENT OF HAJJ FARE INCREMENT*

The Nasarawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board says it will close payment of 1.918 million naira increment for this year's Hajj on Wednesday 03th April, 2024.

The Statement from the board indicated that those who were yet to pay their balance should do so on or before the close of work (3rd Wednesday 2024) or risk the chance of performing this year's Hajj.

According to the statement, the payment which was initially supposed to end Thursday last week was extended due to the intervention of the Nasarawa State Governor and other stakeholders.

The Statement quoted Executive Secretary of the board Mallam Idris Almakura calling on all hajj Coordinators from Nasarawa State to as a matter of urgency contact their pilgrims who were yet to pay their balance to do so before it is too late.

Almakura appreciated the support of the Govt and people of Nasarawa State over the sudden increment of hajj fare by NAHCON.

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State alongside Executive Secretary Nasarawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board Mallam Idris Ahmad Almakura inspected Nasarawa Pilgrims accommodation in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

The Governor who was in Saudi Arabia for lesser hajj, restated commitment towards improving the welfare of intending pilgrims.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary of the Mallam Idris Almakura said the Governor's visit was to access the quality and proximity of the accommodation to the holy Mosque in Makkah to ease suffering of pilgrims.

Almakura showered encomium to the governor for attaching priority to the welfare of Pilgrims.

In a bid to ensure softlanding for prospective pilgrims from Nasarawa State, Governor Abdullahi Sule in company of the Executive Secretary Nasarawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board Mallam Idris Ahmad Almakura alongside some stakeholders visited National Chairman of Hajj Commission MAL. Jalal Arabi in Abuja.

The visit of Governor Sule and Executive Secretary of the board Mallam Almakura to NAHCON boss may not be unconnected with the recent increase of hajj fare by NAHCON.

Engineer Sule who commended Jalal and his team for their doggedness in 2024 hajj preparation, restated commitment towards improving the welfare of Pilgrims at home and at the holy land.

Earlier, the NAHCON chairman Jalal Arabi applauded Governor Sule for his concern to Pilgrims and promised to be just and fair to prospective pilgrims despite challenges of exchange rate that skyrocketed the hajj fare.

On his part, Executive Secretary Nasarawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board Mallam Idris Ahmad Almakura appreciates the interface of the two leaders, saying their meeting will go along way in improving the welfare of the state intending Pilgrims.

*NASARAWA STATE UPDATE ON 2024 HAJJ FARE INCREMENT*

Intending Pilgrims From Nasarawa State who had earlier deposited the sum of four million seven hundred naira (4,7000,000) million naira as 2024 hajj fare are to pay an additional one million nine hundred and eighteen thousand thirty two naira ninety one Kobo ( *1,918,032.92* ) as this year's Hajj fare.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Executive Secretary Nasarawa State Muslims Pilgrims Welfare Board Mallam Idris Ahmad Almakura and made available to newsmen in Lafia.

According to the statement, those who hadn't made earlier deposit and wish to participate in this year's Hajj are expected to pay the sum of 8,254,464.74

The Executive Secretary who regrets the unfortunate development, said the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria has given Thursday 28th March 2024 as a dateline for Muslims who wish to partake in the spiritual journey.

The statement further reiterated that any intending Pilgrim from Nasarawa State who also wishes to withdraw his or her intention may request for refund or defer their deposit for next year's Hajj exercise.

NAHCON CHAIRMAN RECEIVED 2024 HAJJ REGISTRATION UPDATE FROM HEADS OF STATES PILGRIMS BOARD IN ABUJA

Nasarawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has so far generated about two point five Billion Naira from the ongoing registration of intending pilgrims for next year's hajj.

Executive Secretary of the board Mallam Idris Almakura who disclosed this during a meeting with the management of National Hajj Commission of Nigeria NAHCON in Abuja also said the board has so far registered over 800 intending pilgrims out of the 2009 Hajj seats allocated to the State.

Mallam Almakura expressed optimism that the seats allocation exercise will be completed before the December registration dateline.

Earlier, Chairman National Hajj Commission of Nigeria Mallam Jalal Arabi explained that the meeting was to have an update on the registration of intending Pilgrims from the 36 states of the federation including the FCT.

Mallam Jalal Arabi who expressed worry over the low turnout for pilgrims registration across the country, noted that out of seventy five thousand Hajj seats allocated to Nigeria,only fifteen thousand have so far registered for the next year's Hajj exercise.

The NAHCON boss appealed to the State Governors to support their states Pilgrims board to meet up the December registration dateline.

Reports has it that the meeting brought together Executive Secretaries across the federation.

*NASARAWA STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY APPLAUDED BUDGET PERFORMANCE OF PILGRIMS BOARD*


Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Pilgrimage has rated high the budget performance of the Nasarawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.

Chairman of the committee Aliyu Ibrahim Nana gave the indication when he led other members of the committee on an oversight function to the board in Lafia.

Ibrahim Nana who noted that over 80 percent of the budget was strictly implemented, applauded the Executive Secretary of the board for conducting a successful 2023 Hajj operation.

In their separate contributions during the visit, members of the Committee Isimbabe Muhammad, Hudu A. Hudu and Suleiman Azara both said the visit was aimed at accessing the budget performance and advice appropriately where necessary and not to witch hunt the board.

The committee members applauded the Executive Secretary for entrancing transparency in the activities of the Board by operating within the budget limit.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary Nasarawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board Mallam Idris Almakura who briefed the committee on the just concluded 2023 Hajj operation also hinted the members on the preparations for the 2024 Hajj operation.

Mallam Almakura said the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria NAHCON has allocated 2009 Hajj seats to the State for 2024 Hajj, stressing that all intending pilgrims are expected to deposit the sum of 4.5 million naira and await the announcement of the final Hajj fare.

The committee promised to support the board to achieve its goals.

The Executive Secretary Nasarawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board Mallam Idris Almakura has led members of his forum for a meeting with the newly appointed Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria Mallam Jalal Ahmad Arabi in Abuja.

The meeting which brought together relevant stakeholders on Hajj operation, discussed on how to achieve a successful 2024 Hajj preparation.

Idris Almakura who spoke during the meeting, gave assurance that the forum under his watch will collaborate with the new NAHCON boss to contribute immensely to the success of Hajj operation in the country.

CONGRATULATES NEW NAHCON CHAIRMAN

The Forum of Chief Executive Officers of State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards/Agencies/ Commissions, under the Chairmanship of Malam Idris Ahmad Almakura wishes to congratulate the newly appointed Chairman of National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, Alhaji Jalal Ahmad Arabi.

The Forum expresses optimism that the new NAHCON boss will bring his wealth of experience to bear in charting a new course for the Nigerian Hajj Industry while consolidating on milestones achieved.

Malam Almakura further urged the incoming chairman to ensure the promotion of an inclusive policy that will continue to recognize the impact and status of the States in ensuring the continued simplification of the process of performing Hajj while ensuring the pilgrims get value for their money.

The antecedents of Mr Arabi as a seasoned technocrat who believes in the application of law, probity and accountability, has raised optimism in the Forum that all contentious issues bordering on proper implementation of the provisions of the NAHCON's Act and other Saudi Arabian regulations will be revisited to ensure proper delineation of responsibilities between the Commission and the States.

Accordingly, the Forum Chairman Idris Almakura, who also doubles as the Executive Secretary Nasarawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, gave assurance of the Forum's readiness to work wholeheartedly with the new NAHCON Chairman towards achieving all the beautiful goals set to further improve Hajj performance in Nigeria.

The Independent National Hajj Reporters has awarded the Executive Secretary Nasarawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board Mallam Idris Almakura as BEST STATE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY in Crises Management and Welfare Services in 2023 HAJJ operation.

Idris Almakura who was represented at the event by DFA of the board Balarabe Musa Sale said the award was as a result of the Governor's support to the board.

The Cleric who died on Tuesday 29 August, 2023 has been buried according to Islamic rites at Keana.

*NASARAWA PILGRIMS BOARD PRESENTED 2023 HAJJ REPORT TO GOVERNOR SULE*

The Nasarawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board had on Monday presented a comprehensive report of the 2023 Hajj operation to Governor Abdullahi Sule at government house Lafia, Nasarawa State.

Presenting the report, leader of the government delegation for this year's Hajj Justice Aisha Bashir Aliyu said the report is a compilation of the entire Hajj operation right from Madina to Makkah activities.

Hajiya Aisha Bashir who doubled as Chief Judge of the state said this year's Hajj has recorded huge success especially in the area of feeding, accommodation and healthcare services.

While commending the State government for attaching more priority to the welfare of pilgrims, the Chief Judge equally makes a case for recruitment of additional female preachers and female medical personnel to attend to some female pressing issues while at home and in the holy land .

Justice Aisha Bashir expressed satisfaction with the Makkah accommodation secured by the state government due to its proximity to the holy Mosque, thus appealing for its retention in the 2024 Hajj operation.

Receiving the report, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State said the government will carefully study the report with a view to addressing necessary issues that will improve next year's Hajj operation.

While commending the leader of the government delegation, the Executive Secretary and the entire board members, Governor Abdullahi Sule urged the board to always give more priority to indigenes in the next year's Hajj to save government resources.

In an interview with the government house Press crew shortly after the presentation, the Executive Secretary Nasarawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board Mallam Idris Almakura Almakura said the report contained offshore and Onshore activities for governor's appraisal.

Mallam Idris Almakura applauded Governor Abdullahi Sule for always giving the board a listening ear when it comes to issues of pilgrims welfare, promised to build on the successes recorded in the next year's Hajj.

The Chairman of the Board Ustaz Abdullahi Mohammed Gindau and his members were also in attendance during the submission of the report.

Update: The Saudi Arabian Metrological Agency has stated that the temperature will reach 50 degrees centigrade tomorrow, Friday 7th July, 2023.

In view of this, the Saudi Government has advised pilgrims to observe the Jumma’at prayers in the Mosques nearest to them in order not to expose themselves to the harsh weather.

Nigeria Pilgrims are therefore enjoined to comply with this directive.
