*AFAN Commends Gov. Radda for the Biggest Distributing Farming Equipment to Katsina Farmers*

The All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) has commended Governor Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina State for launching a massive agricultural support programme for farmers in the state.

A statement signed by the state AFAN Chairman, Alhaji Ya'u Umar Gwajo-gwajo and made available to newsmen in Katsina says the agricultural support is the biggest of its kind in the history of Nigeria.

The statement lists the items distributed to the farmers to include 80 trucks of fertilizer that contain 48,000 bags, 4,000 power tillers and 4,000 solar water pumps to the tune of N8.3 billion.

"Farmers in Katsina State have started the 2024/2025 dry season farming on a sound footing, with this mega support provided by the Katsina State government under the leadership of Malam Dikko Umar Radda.

"Our members have received the biggest support in the history of Katsina State and Nigeria as a whole, no state government has ever distributed fertilizer and farming implements worth 8 billion Naira.

"The fertilizers which were supplied by the State government will boost the farming activities while alleviating the suffering farmers face in getting fertilizer.

"The solar powered water pumps, power tillers and sprayers which were provided by the state government will be sold to farmers at a subsidized rate to enhance agricultural productivity and improve livelihoods across the state.

"This intervention is consistent with Governor Dikko Radda's passion to develop the agric sector, being a Ph.D holder Agricultural Extension, his past efforts have contributed to the success of this year's wet srason farming", Gwajo-gwajo said.

He also commended the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security led by the Minister, Senator Abubakar, for collaborating with the Katsina State government to provide the support.

Gwajo-gwajo appealed to farmers that benefited from the intervention not to sell the fertilizer and farming implements but use them to improve their production and farming practices for the current dry season farming.
