Last week, during plenary, the Senate Passed a Bill to Establish the Nigeria Maritime University, Okerenkoko, Delta State. Also, the Senate in a motion has moved to upgrade the Eastern Rail line (Traversing Port Harcourt-Enugu-Maiduguri) from Narrow Gauge Rail to Standard Gauge Rail- a project that has been abandoned for some time now.

The 10th House in the last week has been a beehive of activities with the formal inauguration of several standing Cttees. This is to enable them kick-start the various assignments referred to them by the House for legislative action that will guarantee effective representation and general law making.

In our line-up today, we have reports from several Ad-hoc Cttee’s of the House mandated to carryout various assignments, one of which was the ad-hoc cttee investigating the clashes between farmers and herders in some communities of Gombe state and other regions.

The Ad-hoc Cttee investigating the utilization of Ecological Funds and other intervention funds of the great green wall project also met with stakeholders, from where we will see representatives from the CBN, Office of the Accountant General as well as the Director General of the National Agency for Great Green Wall.

Later on, we will bring you a summary of the meeting between various stakeholders and the House Ad-hoc Cttee investigating Federal MDAs on Employment Racketeering and other related issues.

One of the highpoints of those activities was the screening of new Service Chiefs, as submitted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. From another cttee room comes the report of the resumed investigative hearing of the ad-hoc cttee investigating the mismanagement of personnel recruitment, employment racketeering and gross mismanagement on the integrated personnel payroll and information system (IPPIS).
