Governor Uba Sani: A Pacesetter in Kaduna’s Agricultural Revolution with 500-Truck Fertilizer Distribution

Kaduna State has long been known for its rich agricultural potential, being one of the top farming regions in Nigeria. Yet, for decades, its farmers have struggled with issues of inadequate support, lack of modern inputs, and dwindling productivity. However, in a bold move that has captured the attention of both the local population and the entire nation, the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Uba Sani, has proven himself a trailblazer in transforming the agricultural sector. The recent distribution of 500 trucks of fertilizer to farmers across the state marks an unprecedented event in Kaduna’s history—one that will have far-reaching effects for both urban and rural farmers.

Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to revitalising Kaduna’s agricultural sector is evident in both his actions and the policies he has put forth. The scale of this fertilizer distribution is the largest the state has ever seen, positioning him as a governor who is not only enthusiastic about the future of agriculture but also deeply passionate about empowering farmers at every level. The timing of the fertilizer distribution is especially critical as it coincides with the planting season, ensuring that farmers receive the necessary inputs to maximize crop yields.

Before the initiative, many skeptics questioned the feasibility and sincerity of such an ambitious move. There were widespread doubts among naysayers, some of whom claimed that the 500-truck fertilizer distribution was merely a political stunt or even a hoax. Yet, Governor Sani proved these detractors wrong by delivering on his promise and ensuring that the trucks reached farmers in all parts of Kaduna, from the bustling urban centers to the most remote rural communities.

For years, Kaduna's agricultural sector had been underutilized, despite the state's enormous farming population. With large number of its citizens engaged in farming activities, agriculture is the lifeblood of the state's economy. Yet, without access to essential inputs like fertilizers, many farmers were left to practice subsistence farming, unable to produce the high yields necessary to improve their livelihoods or contribute meaningfully to food security. Governor Sani’s initiative changes all of this.

The distribution of fertilizers on such a large scale will help boost productivity, ensuring that farmers have the tools they need to grow more, produce better-quality crops, and contribute to the overall economic growth of the state. This is not just an initiative for today, but a long-term investment in Kaduna’s agricultural future. With increased productivity, the state is poised to become a leading agricultural hub, not just in Nigeria, but in West Africa.

Governor Sani’s approach to this initiative has also been marked by transparency and efficiency. Unlike previous administrations, where such projects were often mired in bureaucracy or allegations of corruption, his government has taken great care to ensure that the fertilizer distribution is conducted fairly. Each truck was carefully monitored, and community leaders were involved in ensuring that the fertilizers reached the right hands—those of farmers who needed them most.

This historic gesture demonstrates Uba Sani’s hands-on leadership style and his understanding of the needs of Kaduna’s agricultural sector. Unlike leaders who may view agriculture as an afterthought, Governor Sani recognizes that the sector holds the key to the state's future prosperity. His passion for agricultural development is clear, and he has placed it at the forefront of his administration’s agenda.

By empowering farmers, both urban and rural, Governor Sani is not only boosting agricultural output but also tackling poverty head-on. Farming is the primary occupation for many families in Kaduna, and through this fertilizer initiative, the governor is helping to create jobs, increase incomes, and improve overall quality of life. In doing so, he is also addressing the food security challenges facing the state and Nigeria as a whole.

The importance of this initiative cannot be overstated, particularly in a state like Kaduna, which is home to one of the largest concentrations of farmers in the country. In many ways, this project is setting a new benchmark for what is possible in agricultural policy in Nigeria. Governor Sani’s forward-thinking approach is a model that other states could emulate, ensuring that farmers across the nation receive the support they need to thrive.

As for the naysayers who dismissed this initiative as a mere gimmick or hoax, they have been left to reconsider their stance. The governor has delivered on his promise, and the tangible impact of this distribution is already being felt across the state. In fact, many farmers have expressed their gratitude, noting that this is the first time they have received such substantial support from the government.

The significance of this initiative is far-reaching. Beyond the immediate benefits of increased crop yields and improved farmer livelihoods, the 500-truck fertilizer distribution is helping to foster a renewed sense of hope and confidence in the state’s leadership. It demonstrates that Governor Uba Sani is a leader who listens to the people and takes decisive action to address their needs.

On a final note, Governor Uba Sani’s fertilizer distribution initiative is nothing short of revolutionary for Kaduna State. By making such a bold and unprecedented move, he has positioned himself as a true trailblazer, committed to agricultural development and farmer empowerment. His passion for reviving the agricultural sector and proving the skeptics wrong sets a new standard for governance in the state and serves as an inspiring example for the rest of Nigeria. The future of agriculture in Kaduna looks bright, thanks to Governor Sani’s leadership and vision.

As Nigerians celebrate Eid Al-Adha, the Young Generation Foundation has issued a statement urging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene in the ongoing crisis in Kano State regarding the reinstatement of Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II.

As contained in a press released made available to newsmen, the foundation commended President Tinubu's efforts in economic reform and national development during his first year in office but expressed concern over the developments in Kano State.

"We believe it is crucial for the president to leverage his experience and commitment to democracy to address this matter promptly and fairly," the Young Generation Foundation pointed out. "We hope that the administration will continue to foster unity, peace, and prosperity for all Nigerians."

The foundation emphasized the importance of respecting legal and democratic processes to maintain unity and stability in the state. 09/10/2023

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani has said his government is taking the necessary steps to diversify the state’s economy, especially by developing the solid minerals sector.

The governor stated this today through his deputy, Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe when she received the executive members of the Nigerian Society of Mining Engineers on a courtesy visit at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House.

Dr Balarabe who noted that Kaduna state is endowed with several mineral resources across the 23 LGAs said, the administration “has taken very important and significant steps to diversify the state’s economy because what we need is a kind of sustainability and stability of the state.
“There is a lot that needs to be done in Kaduna and relying on only one source of revenue will not augur well for the state. So we are looking at other sectors to see how we can get in as much as we can because we have to live by our name as the capital of northern Nigeria.

She further said the state government is sustaining the investment drive started by the previous administration to woo more investements, especially in the mining sector, adding that professional bodies like the Nigerian Society of Mining Engineers have a role to play in supporting the state government’s effort.

“ We have held seven Kaduna Investment Summits, Kadinvest and we will soon host Kadinvest 8.0. So we have been open for business and we have expanded our frontiers. So there are so many things we can do together with professionals like you to expand our frontiers into other sectors like the mining.

”I want to use this opportunity to extend our appreciation for all that you have been doing here in Kaduna and so much more that you will continue to do for us.

“We are not yet where we want to be, there is still a lot of work to be done. I think you’re being here and what you are going to discuss at your Annual General Meeting and International Vonferwnce will help not only Kaduna but other northern states to be able to make an inroads in the mining sector.

The Deputy Governor appealed for the support of the Nigerian Society of Mining Engineers in addressing illegal mining which she said is a big challenge in the sector. She said “this is where we must all put our hands on deck so that the government and the organized private sector can make good of what is available for the benefit of the state”.

The Immediate past president of the society, Dr Ebenezer Damisa, who represented the President, Professor Benson Jatau, congratulated Governor Uba Sani on his election as Governor of Kaduna state and prayed for God’s guidance for him to consolidate the good governance of the state and to uplift the state to greater heights.

Damisa, who noted with gratitude the appointment of their member, Dr Muhammad Nura Usaini as the Managing Director of Kaduna Mining Development Company, further said the Nigerian Society of Mining Engineers is available and ready to partner with Kaduna State for the development of the minerals in the state.

He added that their visit to Government House is to invite the Governor to the Annual General Meeting and International Conference of the society to be hosted in Kaduna from the 10th to 13th of October with the theme “Public Private Partnership: A Tool for Sustainable Development of Nigeria’s Mining industry.

WHY HON. BARR. YUSUF HAMISU MAIRAGO SHOULD BE NOMINATED AS A MINISTER FROM KADUNA STATE

Before i make highlight into his intellectual dexterity and technocratic antecedents, let me start by this quote:"You can hardly seeing a decent politician like "Yusuf Hamisu Mairago " in this present political dispensation! This is a testimony which i heard from many people in Kaduna state political sphere, which will suffice to any rational thinking human being, to understand the political capacity, and relevance of "Yusuf Mairago" in the nation's polity and even at the grassroot on this clarion call.

In order to buttress my point which portrays him as competent and worthy to be assigned as a Minister, who will represent the good people of Kaduna state in the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

Despite being one of the major key stakeholder in the gubernatorial candidateship of Sen. Uba Sani, which even gave people the impression that, apart from the immediate former governor Nasir El-Rufai, there is nobody who actively dedicated his wherewithal more than Yusuf Mairago, towards the victory of Sen. Uba Sani in the just concluded governorship election in Kaduna state.

Of course, this might be true, in view of his political pedigree since 2003, when he held a vigorous gubernatorial aspiration under the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to fiercely challenge the then incumbent governor Ahmed Makarfi, and from that season he earned the household name as "Sai Mairago"!

Few months before the 2023 general election, Mairago shifted his allegiance to APC, and he swung into action, he masterminded the decayed of PDP's structure in most of the Wards across the Kaduna South local government council, which his defection from PDP to APC impelled many people to join forces with him, to actualize the victory of APC in the state.

I was also part of the PDP EXCOS that resigned from my position as the PDP Publicity Secretary Sabon Gari North Ward 11, Kaduna South local government council, in solidarity of Yusuf Mairago. He thoroughly and massively sponsored all the campaign activities both financially and with other logistics in our Ward where he hails from. And his effort wasn't in vain, because he apparently proved to the World that he still maintains a robust political relevance at the grassroot; because APC won at Mairago's local government and his ward at the gubernatorial polls.

He carried people along irrespective of their social status, that's why he didn't hesitate to follow us to the every nook and cranny during the campaign period.

During the electioneering period, Mairago wasn't skeptical for supporting any meaningful project brought to him regardless of your connection, which upon assessment; if he found worthy and believes that it will add value and facilitate the victory of Sen. Uba Sani.

I am one of the beneficiary of this gesture, sometimes ago when the polity was heated during the 2023 gubernatorial campaign, i sent him an "Executive Summary", via his email, seeking for his consent and support about the "Public Relations" (PR) strategy we designed, in order to contribute our own quota towards the success of Sen. Uba Sani. Fortunately, without been skeptical after reading it, he mobilised a reasonable fund for the ex*****on of the project.

Yusuf Hamisu Mairago acquired a foundation that certifies him to amplify coordination efforts effectively, since from his youthful age. This is undisputable, he was the overall best graduating student from the faculty of Law Bayero University Kano, where he obtained his Law Degree in 1987.

He served as a Commissioner Ministry of Health Kaduna State in 1992, and later served as Director General Lands, Bureau for Lands and Survey 1994 to 1997. In 1998, he was appointed again as the Commissioner Ministry of Finance and Economic Planing Kaduna state. He is a trained practising Lawyer by profession, and a former University lecturer.

Because of his administrative ingenuity, his status was elevated to federal level, and he was appointed as the Executive Secretary Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF). Where he designed a pragmatic road map, which turned the organisation into a provident knowledge induced institution.

Mairago also held diverse positions in both the public service as well as private sector. He served as Commissioner in the Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC) and also Chairman Niger Insurance Plc. He is a recipient of various national and international awards and honours, including the Officer of the Order of Niger (OON) and Honorary Doctor of Business Studies.

Based on the aforementioned leadership capacity which Hon. Barr. Dr. Yusuf Hamisu Mairago possessed. He is the most eligible person whose befit the position of a Minister from Kaduna state.

In a significant move towards enhancing access to quality education, Kaduna State has announced substantial reductions in the school fees of several state institutions. As these fee reductions come into effect, students and their families can look forward to more affordable educational opportunities, and the state can anticipate a more educated and empowered workforce that will contribute to its progress and prosperity.

Breaking News: El-Rufai Withdraws Ministerial Ambitions, Recommends Replacement

August 11, 2023
By: Abdullahi Abubakar Ladan

In a surprising development, former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has withdrawn his aspiration to be part of President Bola Tinubu's cabinet, a highly placed Presidency source has exclusively revealed to PREMIUM TIMES.

During a meeting with President Tinubu on Tuesday, Mr. El-Rufai conveyed his decision to step back from seeking a ministerial appointment, expressing his intention to contribute to Nigeria's development as a private citizen. Sources also indicated that he mentioned the need to concentrate on his doctorate program at a university in The Netherlands.

Mr. El-Rufai, renowned for his previous governance role in Kaduna State, has been recognized for his dedication to public service. He reportedly recommended Jafaru Ibrahim Sani as a potential replacement for a ministerial post from Kaduna State. Notably, Mr. Sani had previously served as a commissioner in three different ministries in the state - Local Government, Education, and Environment - during El-Rufai's tenure as governor.

This turn of events underscores the dynamic nature of Nigeria's political landscape and the intricate connections between prominent figures. Mr. El-Rufai's decision to withdraw his interest while suggesting a capable replacement further highlights the importance of strategic and constructive decisions in shaping the nation's leadership and governance.

The recommendation of Mr. Sani as a potential ministerial candidate emphasizes the significance of continuity and expertise in governance. As the political scene evolves, the nation watches keenly to observe the unfolding of these decisions and their impact on the future of Kaduna State and the broader political sphere.
