*ENUGU STATE POLICE COMMAND COVID-19 ORDERS ENFORCEMENT UPDATES*
*BORDER CLOSURE: COMMISSIONER OF POLICE, AIRFORCE BASE COMMANDER INSPECT PERSONNEL AT ENUGU/ANAMBRA AND ENUGU/ABIA BORDERS, SHUTDOWN MOTOR PARK*
1. The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Ahmad AbdurRahman, MCPSS, MCJ, MNIM on 7th May 2020, in company of the Base Commander, 558 Services Base Group of the Nigerian Airforce, Enugu, Air Commodore Chidiebere Obiabaka, went on an inspection tour to assess the level of enforcement and compliance with the border closure and inter-state travel restriction orders at Enugu/Anambra and Enugu/Abia States borders.
2. At the Ugwuoba/Amansi border point between Enugu/Anambra States, the CP charged Personnel of the DSS, NSCDC and the Police manning the border to be vigilant and resolute in the enforcement duty, and shun acts of corruption and complacency. He reminded them of the sensitivity and importance of the duty in the containment of the Coronavirus pandemic and made it clear that anyone found doing anything contrary to the stipulated rules of engagement, will be severely sanctioned.
3. Thence, the team moved to the Enugu/Awka Highway axis of the border, where the Commissioner not only made sure intending inward and outward bound vehicles were turned back, but also ordered the immediate closure of Ugwuoba Garriki Modern Motor Park, where motorists were seen discreetly aiding the inward movement of travellers, who are loaded in waiting Commercial Buses at the Park and transported into the State. He directed Oji-River Area Commander to ensure proper supervision of the enforcement personnel and make sure the Park remain closed till further notice.
4. The team further proceeded to Enugu/Abia States border point along Enugu/Port-Harcourt Expressway, where Security Personnel, the Vice Chairman of Awgu LGA, Barr. Ogbonnaya Lotachukwu and team, including health workers, were seen doing the needful. The CP commended and charged them to keep up the good work. He also warned the Personnel to remain resolute and ensure they perform the duty in accordance with stipulated rules, as anything in the contrary, will not be tolerated.
5. Senior Police Officers who accompanied the Commissioner in the tour included the ACP Alaba Haruna, Assistant Commissioner, Department of Operations; ACP Dauda Ayuba, Squadron Commander of No. 3 PMF, Enugu; SP Adewale Abdulkareem, Commander of CTU, Base 10 Enugu; and ASP Daniel N. Ekea, the Command's Police Public Relations Officer.
