Anambra university grants scholarship to 5,000 repented commercial s*x worker, vulnerable persons
Tansian universiersity, Umunya, Anambra in partnership with Chartered Institute of Educational Practitioners, U.K., CIEPUK, has granted full scholarship to 5,000 repented commercial s*x workers and vulnerable people.
Prof. Marcel Ezenwoye, the National President, CIEPUK, made this known to newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday.
Mr Ezenwoye said that the beneficiaries were drawn from the 36 state of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
"Tansian University, Umunya in Anambra State has awarded full scholarship to 5,000 repented commercial s*x workers and vulnerable women from each of the 36 States of the federation and the FCT.
"The beneficiaries, who are profiled and sent by their respective state government shall undergo three months intensive training on different craft and skills after which they will be equipped with relevant resources.
"Beneficiaries shall attend the course in any of the two centres for the northern and southern part of the nation in batch from Feb. 26.
"The three-month entrepreneurship skill program includes professional preparing in shoemaking, cleanser making, cream making, scriptwriting, video editing, agric business and farm management.
"Others are; acting, online and social media studies, cinematography, furniture making, electrical works, cottage industry, tie and dye, clothing, zest creation, barbing and event management," he said.
The CIEPUK president noticed that no less than 185, 000 beneficiaries would graduate the first phase.
According to him, the beneficiaries will be provided with free tuition fee, accommodation, medical cover, insurance and security.
"Tansian University, with help from its technical partners, Chartered Institute of Educational Practitioners U.K. will provide all beneficiaries with free tuition fee, accommodation, medical cover, insurance, security while their respective state government provide feeding to cover the three months training programme.
"It is expected that 185,000 beneficiaries will graduate within this first phase after which they will be in a situation to add to the Gross Domestic Product.
"From the impact, they will make on the public economy, it is relied upon to be in the region of ₦200 billion annually apart from the direct and Indirectly jobs their activities will create," he said.
