BE IMPACTFUL TO ISARA:
MAKE YOURSELF KNOWN IN YOUR HOMETOWN
There are many benefits and opportunities to participating in community activities.
For any established community like ours at Isara, there are required commitments to ensure that the community grows and progresses; the people, the men, women, and youths have roles to play.
Specifically at Isara, my hometown, I have seen youths and elders, both male and female, even women who are married, who participated so much in one activity or the other going on in the town. I believe this is not because they are jobless or that they do not have some other important things to do, but it’s because of the love they have for their town.
At any point in time, there would be a call to service, it might be political, cultural, socioeconomic reasons, academics or youth activities name it.
The bottom line is, to make yourself known in one way or the other so that your generation to come will have to reference you based on your contribution many years after now. Make an Impact no matter how small, make sure it’s positive.
I have always observed that, most of those who always stay back when community clarion calls are those who criticise what the few who volunteer themselves to serve are doing.
Commitment to community running is not limited to anybody, it’s an open market and not a money-sharing platform, it’s a gathering to work so that you can have a town to be proud of, there is no limit to the number of people who can represent. People are seeing how kind you are when it comes to community service, just try it once, do it right, and the next time, they will call you again. The benefit is for all.
If you continue to stay back, waiting for you to be called upon before you participate, you may never take a step forward in bringing part of them, then you will continue to be an audience, and meanwhile, you may have better ideas to contribute to making the community grow.
When you've known in your community, people will always stand up for you, I am still surprised, by the way donations rolled in for Kentijan a few months ago;
Those whooping amount donated were majorly from Isara people. The reason is not far-fetched, that was because, a lot of people know Kentijan at Isara, he has involved himself in one way or the other in the contribution to community development, directly or indirectly. God will perfect your healing brother🙏🏾. That’s just one very recent example.
Now it has been announced that there is an Interest form available for Isara youth to contest for executive positions in IYC, some of our youth are asking for the benefit…
What more can be the benefit if not come and volunteer yourself to add your idea to the development and progress of Isara? The opportunity is opened for Indigenous Isara youths to participate but they are being reluctant about it
Meanwhile, we have got youth like us that grew up together at Isara, they love Isara so much but they are not an indigene of Isara, they would always contribute to whatever we are doing… but! If such a person is considered in the absence of indigenes shoeing interest, my people we rise to petition it, and they will say NO! Never! “Ve sh’omo Isara”. History begins…
It’s not in the best interest of Isara that we should continue this way, it requires just a little of our time and commitment to contribute to the development of Isara. Community development is a joint task, it’s a uniform assignment that we all are expected to be part of in one way or other
Truly, we love Isara, but it shouldn’t be by mouth, we can always start from little and grow our interest. On many occasions, I have attended town hall meetings at Isara and it would turn out to be that I was the smallest😁 the next person before me in age might be old enough to be my daddy. Eemi Keh! I don’t care, so far it’s about the development and progress of Isara they are discussing there. It was through these meetings and gatherings that my interest got deepened and sincerely, I never regret my steps so far to this stage of my life. Isara Remo in my life has been a blessing, I love Isara, We love Isara.
A day after I got to the UK 🇬🇧, I made sure I attended Remo Day UK 2023! I didn’t look far before I chose the right-hand side of the hall where I had my people from Isara fully occupied with dignitaries from all walks of life in attendance, but TENI NTENI.
Wherever I am, after Isara, Isara nooni,
We will continue pushing forward,
We will continue praying for Isara, we will continue to promote our interest, who we are, our culture, our project, norms, and the name - Isara until the world sees it best.
I’ve got greater Isarians at home and greater cities in the world that I am privileged to know, they are under-G people, they don’t loud it, they love Isara, they are my mentors in love towards the development of the town, I believe their passion and love for Isara didn’t start now, they have developed the interest since primary school days in the 40’s, 50’s, 60’s.
Imagine the recently concluded donation of the building that took place at St. Peters Primary School Isara, those who organized it are old pupils of the school, most of whom are now in their 60s and 70s. But they still went back to support their school, for two reasons, it’s their school and it’s in their hometown.
Sincerely, there should not be an excuse for community contribution, when our past leaders, like, baba Odufuwa, Papa JAS, Baba Ajayi, Baba Runsewe, etc all blessed memories were actively involved in Isara affairs, were also busy with their careers, were patriotic and very much dedicated to the project - Isara, and that was why they are today tagged as part of our past leaders at Isara.
Believe me, those who are actively involved in community activities are those who are even more busy but they squeeze their itinerary to contain their contributions to Isara. And it’s helping them.
What most of us don’t know is that, for any Isara indigenes to have any portfolio in Nigeria, be it political or public offices, it’s always a community nomination, “bi ile ba San ni Awo laa ti nmo, ile la ti no eso r’ode”. Nkan t’aba se si ile (Home Town) on l’ama de ba.
Isara Youth Council Executive interest form is selling fast, let’s encourage ourselves and encourage the youth to take part in the process, together we can make Isara great! As our leaders and elders are trying to pull it up, let’s support them to make the task easy for them and the betterment of all and sundry.
Happy New Month to my family and friends back home at Isara, may we live to witness many New months of March on earth.
Live long bareemi Odemo
