Re: Open Letter to Hon. Yinka Aluko

Dear Constituent (Ahmed Funsho Hadan),

I received your open letter with deep appreciation and commend your courage in highlighting these crucial issues. Aligned with the ethos of my campaign, "Your Voice, my Mandate," I am receptive to constructive criticism and genuine feedback. The quest for meaningful input guided my decision to appoint youths from our federal constituency as my aides. Furthermore, I perceive your open letter not as an isolated voice but as a reflection of the collective sentiments of the esteemed people of Ilorin East/South Federal constituency.

Addressing your pertinent inquiry, "Are the people's yearnings and aspirations still being tabled for national action?" allow me to reaffirm my legislative achievements and interventions within a concise timeframe.

The legislature's multifaceted roles encompass Legislation, Representation, and Oversight, among others. My office diligently upholds each of these roles. Legislation, being paramount, has seen me sponsor pivotal bills:
1. A bill to establish the Federal Medical Center, Fufu in Ilorin South Local Government (Gazetted and forwarded to the Senate for future deliberation).
2. A bill to establish the Federal College of Education, Oke-Oyi in Ilorin East Local Government (currently at the Second Reading stage).

Furthermore, I have tabled motions on critical national issues, demonstrating my commitment to Nigerians' welfare. While some motions have been successfully tabled, others await Rules and Business Committee responses. These motions encompass various concerns, such as:
1. The need to address the proliferation of sub-standard steel products in Nigeria.
2. The need for the construction of a flyover at Oko-olowo junction and Shao, Jebba Highway, as part of the ongoing Ilorin - Jebba - Mokwa Highway Dualization project.
3. The need for the rehabilitation of the Idofian - Fufu - Lajiki - Oke-oyi link road in Ifelodun, Ilorin South/East Local Government area of Kwara State.
4. The need to Regulate the indiscriminate allocation of security personnel to private citizens, among others.

In terms of Oversight, my office under various committees, diligently monitors and reviews the actions, policies, and performance of the executive branch to ensure transparency, accountability, and optimal government functioning. Serving as the Vice Chairman of the House Committee on Privatization and Commercialization, in addition to various committee memberships, underscores our commitment to effective oversight. Effective and credible representation remains a cornerstone of my service, prioritizing the aspirations and welfare of our Federal Constituency. Recognizing the paramount importance of security, I have engaged with various security agencies to advocate for enhanced surveillance, particularly along the boundary between Ilorin South and Idofian, during heightened kidnapping incidents. Additionally, collaboration with NDLEA chiefs underscores our collective effort to combat drug abuse in our constituency and beyond.

Noteworthy successes have been achieved in addressing petitions submitted by constituents, such as Balogun Laaro's case against NECO, resulting in a favorable judgment. It's imperative to note that my approach to interventions prioritizes documentation underscoring the importance of transparency and accountability.

Moreover, my office remains steadfast in responding to constituent requests, bolstered by initiatives to alleviate the impact of subsidy removal and support community needs. Our interventions span education, sports, religion, and cultural matters, including extra mural classes, support for Quranic and Islamic programs, sponsored football competitions, provision of solar-powered lights, and addressing water challenges. All these are facts that can be verified from my constituency office and the benefitted communities.

Excitingly, budgetary approvals have been secured for various initiatives in the 2024 budget, including youth and women empowerment programs, motorized and solar-powered boreholes, and road rehabilitation, among others.

Addressing the grain palliative issue, while delays are regrettable, rest assured that my office has not yet received palliative items. It's crucial to clarify that the distribution of such items adheres strictly to Federal Government procedures and we have carried out all the necessary and required processes while awaiting the arrival of the palliative. Ensuring equitable distribution once received is our priority.

In conclusion, while appreciating your courage and genuine interest in our constituency's development, my Special Legislative Aides (SLAs) and Legislative Aides (LAs) remain accessible for any clarifications or queries. Senator Mustapha Appoints Nasif Sholagberu as Media Aide

Senator Saliu Mustapha, representing the Kwara Central Senatorial District and serving as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture Services, has appointed Nasif Sholagberu, aged 27, as his Media Assistant.

The announcement came during an Iftar gathering hosted by Senator Mustapha at his residence in Ilorin, the capital city of Kwara State.

Senator Mustapha, who also holds the title of Turaki of Ilorin, expressed his intention to integrate young talent into his team to enhance information dissemination within Kwara Central. Mr. Sholagberu's appointment underscores this commitment to harnessing the potential of youth in the region.

Prior to his new role, Nasif Sholagberu served as the Publisher of the widely read Sho Pen Online, a highly regarded digital media platform operating within Kwara State. Under his leadership, Sho Pen Online has emerged as a prominent voice in the local media landscape, demonstrating Mr. Sholagberu's adeptness in media management and strategic communication.

Sho Pen Online recently organized a two-day skill acquisition training program, equipping over 100 young individuals with essential digital skills, further showcasing Mr. Sholagberu's dedication to empowering the youth.

Mr. Sholagberu, an accounting graduate from Kwara State Polytechnic, boasts a wealth of experience and expertise in media affairs. He has received training and certification from prestigious international media institutions such as the BBC, CISLAC, CEOSNetworkAfrica, PRNigeria, and Reuters, among others.

Additionally, Mr. Sholagberu was selected to undergo specialized media training conducted by the Nigerian Army, focusing on social media effectiveness and media management. Currently, he is pursuing certification as an Associate of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), further enhancing his professional credentials.

Appeal To Kwara Governor For Providing Protection for Our Goods and Securing Us a Space for Our Business Activities

Your Excellency, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the executive governor of Kwara State and the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors' Forum, we express our deepest gratitude for your continued efforts towards improving the status of our beloved state, elevating it from a bottom-low ranking state to one of the top-ranking states in Nigeria.

Sir, we, the "OK Dealers Association," humbly write this open letter to you after exhausting all available channels to ensure our concerns reach your attention. We are hopeful that Your Excellency will be receptive to our yearnings and swiftly address our concerns.

As you may be aware, we are a group of individuals, primarily youths, who conduct our daily business activities under the “Post Office Bridge” in Ilorin. Recently, we have been displaced by the Kwara State Ministry of Environment, and asked to vacate the area.

Your Excellency, we recognize the importance of a healthy environment and commend your administration's efforts towards promoting peaceful coexistence in the state. We also wish to emphasize that our members, who are predominantly youths of the state, rely on our trading activities at this location for their income and livelihood.

These youths have the potential to become business owners in the state and contribute to the growth of Kwara's economy. Moreover, our business activities provide opportunities to curb hooliganism and crime by engaging young people in productive and legitimate work.

Your Excellency, as we were directed by the Ministry of Environment to relocate to 'Soludero Park,' we would like to bring to your attention the challenges we are facing:

1. Lack of Official Documentation: There has been no official documentation provided to us that sanctions our relocation to the new site. This has led to uncertainty and confusion among our members regarding the legitimacy of the move.
2. Space Constraints: The Soludero Park is already occupied by transporters, and accommodating our members in the same area would result in overcrowding. This could lead to difficulties in conducting our business activities efficiently and may also pose safety risks.
3. Potential for Future Conflict: Without a proper process in place for the allocation of space and regulation of activities, we are concerned that issues may arise between our members and the transporters already operating in the area. We fear this could escalate into conflicts, which we sincerely hope to avoid.

Your Excellency, we understand the importance of maintaining a clean and orderly environment, and we are willing to cooperate with the government's directives. However, we humbly request your intervention in addressing these challenges to ensure a smooth transition and secure our livelihoods.

We propose the following potential solutions for your consideration:

1. Provision of Official Documentation: We kindly request that your administration provide us with the necessary official documentation that permits our relocation to the new site and guarantees our right to conduct our business activities there.
2. Allocation of Adequate Space: We appeal for an alternative location or an expansion of the Soludero Park to accommodate our members comfortably and safely, without causing overcrowding or impeding the operations of the transporters already present.
3. Mediation and Regulation: We would appreciate the government's assistance in mediating between our association and the transporters to prevent potential conflicts and ensure harmonious coexistence. Furthermore, implementing a clear set of regulations for operating in the new location would help maintain order and prevent future disputes.

In light of these circumstances, we humbly appeal to Your Excellency to provide protection for our goods and help secure an alternative space where we can continue our business activities without disruption. By doing so, you will be empowering the youth of Kwara State and supporting the local economy, while also ensuring the maintenance of a healthy environment and social order.

Your Excellency, we are confident that with your guidance and support, we can overcome these challenges and continue contributing positively to the economy of Kwara State. We look forward to your response and appreciate your commitment to the well-being of all residents in the state. Thank you for your time and consideration.

ASKOMP appreciates Senator Salihu Mustapha over Ramadan package

The Association of Kwara Online Media Practitioners (ASKOMP) has commended Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate, Senator Salihu Mustapha for the Ramadan package distributed to members.

In a statement signed by ASKOMP Chairman, Salihu Shola Taofeek, on Tuesday in Ilorin, he conveyed the association's appreciation for Senator's commitment to fostering unity and support within the media community during the holy month of Ramadan.

Salihu said the kind gesture by the Senator is seen as a commendable initiative, reflecting his understanding of the importance of solidarity and communal support, especially during religious observances.

ASKOMP Hosts SSA Community Development To Media Parley
..Unveils 24 Action Plan for Grassroots Development

The Senior Special Assistant to Kwara State Governor on Community Development, Dr Lawal Olohungbebe has unveiled his 24 Action Plan for grassroots development in the state.

Dr Olohungbebe who is also the Coordinator Community Engagement in Office of Kwara State Governor, disclosed this on Tuesday while featuring on Association of Kwara Online Media Practitioners (ASKOMP) Media Parley in Ilorin.

The Community Development Expert said the action plan is tailored towards bringing dividends of democracy to rural areas across the 16 local government areas in Kwara State.

He revealed that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq led administration has distributed solar powered streetlights in some communities to address insecurity issue and energize businesses at night.

According to him, community engagement has gone beyond distribution of items and handouts in this era. We are focusing on human capital development to propel sustainable development inline with global goals-SDG.

On Community Engagement, Olohungbebe said his office has trained community development officers in the three Senatorial districts on vision of Governor Abdulrazaq, latest trends and strategic partnership for rural development.

The SSA noted that participants were issued certificate by Department of Community Development, Kwara State University Malete.

Speaking on Food Palliative distribution, Olohungbebe said the Committee received 20,000 bags of 10kg rice from the state government with mandate to reach out to vulnerable and poorest of the people.

His words: "His Excellency, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq specifically gave us instructions on target beneficiaries for the food palliative. It's meant for vulnerable persons to cushion effect of economic hardship. We therefore worked with Community based organizations, CSOs and other stakeholders in the community to identify people in the category and distribute accordingly."

At some points in the country, musicians used music as the collective voice of the masses to fight against unfriendly governmental policies while still debating issues that surround manners, morals, governance, etc....

In Nigeria, my view is that most hip-hop songs can be categorized as noise rather than music. But then, what is noise for one person can be music for another.

Adekunle Ajasin 300-level female student identified as Ifeoluwa Adekunle reportedly stabbed to death by unknown assailants in her off-campus apartment.
