Six Policemen Killed In Delta Ambush, Six Others Missing

The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the deaths of six officers killed while investigating the disappearance of three colleagues in Delta State.

The Force's Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.

Adejobi added that six other officers are still missing and five suspects have been arrested in connection with the killings.

Adamawa/Taraba Customs Thwarts Smuggling of PMS Amidst Violent Attack on Personnel

Following the unwavering efforts of the Nigeria Customs Service Officers for effective border management and to suppress smuggling activities at the nation's border, the Adamawa/Taraba Command officers, on Sunday, March 17, 2024, chased down smugglers on the Mubi-Sahuda road to prevent smuggling at the territorial borders.

According to the Statement by the public relations officer of the command, Naomi Titus stated that during the operation, three tricycles loaded with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) suspected to be smuggled out of the country into the Republic of Cameroon were intercepted.

The officers, according to her, encountered fierce resistance from the smugglers, who launched a violent attack, trying to set both the officers and their official vehicles on fire. Fortunately, after a call for reinforcement, the Nigerian Army intervened, averting a potential disaster.

"However, one officer sustained severe injuries, and the windshield of an operational vehicle was shattered during the attack", she stated.

According to the statement, despite the resistance, the team managed to secure, evacuate, and seize 45x25L jerry cans of PMS. "These are all part of the Nigeria Customs Service's committed efforts to safeguard the nation's borders and curb illegal smuggling activities", stated.

Lagos Police Foil Fake Kidnapping Plot, Arrest Four

The Lagos State Police Command has foiled a staged kidnapping and arrested four people involved in the scheme.

The command's Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

The statement partly read, "Detectives of the Lagos States Police Command have arrested Margret Itodo ‘f’ aged 25, Agnes Ogbeh ‘f’ aged 23, Esther Anyanwu ‘f’ aged 24 and Anthony Chinakwe ‘m’ aged 24 for faking the kidnap of Agnes Ogbeh.

"On March 19, 2024, Agnes Ogbeh, resident in Akure, had travelled to Lagos and was reportedly kidnapped in Lagos.

"The family back in Akure received a video showing Agnes and one other tied, gagged, and groaning with blood droplets around them.

"The ‘kidnappers’ demanded N5m for the release of Agnes.

Nigeria Is Not Lagos, Nollywood Actor Okonkwo Slams Tinubu

Popular Nollywood actor and spokesperson for the Labour Party Presidential Campaign, Dr. Kenneth Okonkwo, has criticised President Bola Tinubu's administration.

He said Nigeria is not Lagos where the former Lagos State Governor sits and decrees things and expect them to work that way.

Speaking on Mic On Podcast with Seun Okinbaloye, which was shared on his X handle on Thursday, Okonkwo said he thought that former President Muhammadu Buhari’s regime was the worst until he realised that the current administration surpassed the former President in nine months.

Okonkwo said, “Anarchy looms in Nigeria. Nigeria is not Lagos where you sit down and decree things and you expect it to work that way.

“You don’t compare gold with carrots. Initially, I thought Buhari’s regime was going to be the worst but in nine months, this government has surpassed it.

“You know what it means when you place your children in order of protocol before ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. What do you call that eyesore? You are allowing somebody to come to A*o Rock sitting on the Coat of Arms to call our military men thieves.

“This government in terms of appointment is just concentrating, not even on the South West but on the Lagos axis of the ‘Jagabanic’ prodigies tainted with ‘Emilokan’ philosophies.”

VIDEO: We Must Avenge Their Deaths, Soldier Speaks on Colleagues Killed in Delta

A Nigerian soldier, identified as Egitanghan G, has expressed his desire to be part of any operation seeking to avenge the deaths of the military personnel who were killed during a peace keeping mission in Delta State last week.

The soldier, who claims to be from Delta State, expressed outrage over what he called "rubbish comments" made about the deceased soldiers.

He highlighted his own experience fighting for his country and emphasized the sacrifices soldiers make to protect their homeland.

In a video posted on his TikTok handle on Wednesday, he said in pidgin English, "This message na for my Niger Delta brothers.

"When I dey read the comments about the things wey dem talk about our soldiers wey die for Delta State, na cry I dey cry because me na Delta boy.

"I know the things wey I dey face for this country. I don go Maiduguri spend four years, fight. I know how many Maiduguri soldiers wey come from Maiduguri wey die for their state to protect their land. I know how many Katsina people wey come from Katsina wey die for Katsina.

"But una get mind kill our soldiers for Delta State and all the South South people dey comment rubbish comment. They say whether soldiers wey die for North, whether them dey put them online?

"We no fit forgive anybody wey kill frontline soldiers. We must avenge their death. Even me wey be Warri boy, I pray make I dey among the operation.
