The GEN Z
Let's talk about the 4 Generations of human existence ... From that time to this time and how things have developed.

1. Baby boomers generation: This generation is made up of people born between 1946 and 1964.
They are a generation that rely on TV to stay informed, and consider radio to be their main source of entertainment.

2. Generation X

This generation is made up of people who were young adults in the 80s; people born between 1965 and 1980. It is considered a bridge generation. During the years in which this generation was born, capitalism took root strongly and consumerism experienced a great boom, shaping them into an ambitious group of individuals. During the quarantine, this generation saw changes in habits such as an increase in their TV consumption, especially paid TV (47%), with a 60% increase in VoD. Their use of social media also increased by 67%, their use of WhatsApp by 73%, and their podcast and music streaming consumption by 26%.

3. Generation Millennials : Born between 1981 and 1996, millennials are digital natives. They are the first generation that can be considered “global,” since they share similar values all over the world thanks to globalization and connection through the Internet. They like to learn and try new things, they have self-confidence and a lot of commitment, but they are not afraid to change jobs. They do not conceive of life without technology and they are quick to adapt to new things. It is a generation that prefers to consume content on their cell phone and inform themselves through social networks, and in turn, are more geared toward online TV transmission. They consider that watching streaming television changed the way they view content.

4. Generation Z : (1997-2010) Individuals belonging to this generation are the youngest in the labor market, and are characterized by living immersed in internet society and consuming only digital formats. They study and read online, they are self-taught and are at the forefront of social networks. They are very creative, flexible, and good at multitasking. They prefer working remotely, and have a highly innovative and pragmatic spirit — but they are not so easy to retain as customers. This generation was born with unprecedented access to information. Thanks to the internet, most “zoomers,” as they are known colloquially, have developed a capacity for self-teaching, always satisfying their curiosity and need for learning through digital media. They tend to be more susceptible to visual content, probably because of how easy it is to digest information through videos and infographics.

Because of this, today’s advertisers seek consumer participation. It is no longer just about targeting potential customers, but about communicating at the right time, in the right place, and with the right message.

Note: A good digital marketer should know which generation to target for which product and on which social media channels, is best suitable.

November 15th, 2022 The world population was recorded to have passed 8 billion people according to Data. A I, and by January 2023 it was recorded at 8.1 billion. 57 percent of this population lives in urban areas.
A total of 5.4 billion people used Mobile Phones in early 2023 equating to 68 percent of the total global population. Mobile users have increased by 3 percent this year with 163 million new users over the past 12 months.
Now why am I telling you this? There are 5.16 billion internet users in the world meaning 64.4 percent of the world is online. Of this population, 4.76 billion use social media around the world, equating to 60% of the world population. Now take a look at these statistics for the top social media channels and how they evolve. Every time you put your business on social media, with the right objective, right content, and perfect targeting, you tend to reach at least 10 percent of each of this population, do the math if you stay active on at least 3 of these social apps. The terrestrial era when brands spend big on advertising is gone. This is the Digital Age, If Big companies utilize social media for brand awareness, then the competition is getting real. Brand awareness, Consideration then conversion should be the target of every social post. Your social media presence plays an integral part in your brand awareness and brand growth make use of it.

THE FACT ABOUT RECORD LABELS.
The importance of record labels can not be overemphasised. In as much as I agree with many people regarding the damage record labels have to invoke on up-and-coming artists, we should not forget the fact that record labels have helped many artists as well. 2face, Wizkid Davido Dbanj, and many more get their fame through the help of record labels in one way or another in their lives. If you want to get recognized and relevant in the music industry you have to belong to a record label at the early age of your career unless you have the funds or backing that is very strong. A record label is first business before artists' royalty came into the picture. Management, PR, promotion, and now social media influencing don't come cheap so artists have got a price to pay through their music if you want your record label to treat you right... A piece of advice for up-and-coming artist if you see a record label who extend their arms to you for your signature make sure you read the terms and conditions and contact a lawyer who understand it more so they can explain what you are signing in clearer terms. Also, have a target of not more than 3-4 years move out and try standing alone. Use the 3 years to make connections, collaborate, build fans and friends, and invest in people. This is why Olamide Don Jazzy and the artist I mentioned earlier always get my respect always because they give back to the community by helping other new artists to thrive in the Industry. While your music may not be the latest rave in town your signed artist will keep shooting your names back to limelight through your motivation and tutelage.
