The Economic Community of West African States ( ECOWAS) has ordered its standby force to restore constitutional order in the Niger Republic.

The President of ECOWAS, Omar Alieu Touray, made the declaration on Thursday, August 10, 2023 in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital while reading the resolution of ECOWAS on the Niger coup at the ECOWAS Extraordinary meeting..

It also called on the African Union, AU, partner countries, and institutions to support the resolution taken by the sub-regional body.

According to ECOWAS, all efforts made to dialogue with Niger Republic military junta have been defiantly rejected by coup leaders as they condemn the continuous detention of President Mohamed Bazoum and his family members.

A Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois County, United States of America, has dismissed a lawsuit filed by the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 General Elections, requesting President Bola Tinubu’s academic records from the Chicago State University.

During the campaigns in 2022, Tinubu stated that he had a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with honours.

Despite Beverly Poindexter, who is in charge of official transcript requests, enrolment and degree verification at the Office of the Registrar, CSU, affirming Tinubu’s comment, some persons still had some doubts.

Recently, Atiku filed a suit, seeking to subpoena the university but was said to have, before the date of hearing, withdrawn the case before the court.

Scientists have developed a groundbreaking cancer drug that kills all solid cancer tumors while leaving other cells unharmed.

The new molecule, codenamed AOH1996 – targets a protein present in most cancers that helps tumors grow and multiply in the body. It is significant because this protein, the proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA), was previously thought to be ‘undruggable’.

According to Mail Online, the drug was tested on 70 different cancer cells in the lab – including those derived from breast, prostate, brain, ovarian, cervical, skin, and lung cancer – and was effective against them all.

A pattern has emerged in the arguments many of the partisan and ideological critics routinely make on television stations. There is this tendency to always muddle up facts and mislead the public, notably through willful ignorance.

One point that has been erroneously made is the view that the Federal Government is not doing anything about fixing the four refineries it owns. This view is incorrect.

The Federal Government, through the NNPC in 2021, signed a deal with an Italian company, Maire Tecnimont SpA, for a complete revamp of the two refineries in Port Harcourt at a cost exceeding $1billion. The contract that will be executed in three phases is expected to bring the two refineries to full production capacity. The first phase should have been delivered by April 2023, but the company recently announced a five- month extension. The second and third phases will be delivered in 32 and 44 months respectively. By the contact terms, we should have the two refineries in Port Harcourt fully working by 2025.
