The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (aka So-Safe Corps) has busted a syndicate that specialized in burglary and stealing of power generating sets at Agoro, a suburb area in Sango-Otta.
Two of the six-man gang ran out of luck after successfully carting away a 7.5kva alternator diesel generator, while in use, and were in the process of revisit, to do away with another one, this time, a petrol generator, from the same spot.
A statement issued by the the Corps Commander, Dr. Soji Ganzallo through the Director of Information and Public Relations, AC Moruf Yusuf, revealed that the suspects,
Toyeeb Yekini and Ajie Victor, were intercepted on a motorbike before accomplishing their second operation.
According to the statement, at about 01:00am on February 22, there was an emergency call from the said community, needing a prompt response of the Corps, following which the Ado-Odo/Otta Zonal Commander, AC Tajudeen Odunmbaku, deployed his men to the troubled Agoro community.
On interrogation, the suspects disclosed that they arrived the community two hours earlier, only to carry out the operation thereafter, carting away the 7.5kva alternator diesel generator.
However, the Corps Commander revealed that
the stolen generator had been recovered at Ilepa in Ifo Local Government Area of the state, adding that, in their confession, the suspects disclosed the identity of the buyer of their stolen goods as one 'Indomie', residing in Ijako-Otta.
They also listed other members of the syndicate, stirring the water of peace in Agoro community, to include Omo Wise, MTN, Foldest and Shuaib.
Meanwhile, according to Ganzallo, the suspects and the exhibit have been transferred to the Sango-Otta Divisional Police Headquarters for further investigation and likely prosecution.
