Okay... I decided to add this to my teachings 😌 ( specifically for the guys)

Did you know that braids were used to help slaves escape slavery?.

Slaves used braids to transfer information and create maps to the north.

Since slaves were not allowed to read or write, they had to pass information through braids.

They also kept 🍚 rice hidden in their hair to avoid starving.

It is believed to have originated in Colombia, South America, where Benkos Bioho, at the end of the 16th century, came up with the idea that women create maps and send messages through their braids. They were also called "canerows" to represent the sugarcane fields where slaves worked.

One style had curved braids, tightened on their heads. Curved braids would represent the paths they would use to escape.

Also in their braids they stored gold and hid seeds that helped them survive after escaping. They would use the seeds to plant crops once released.

Cornrows was the best way to not return any suspicion to the owner. You would never figure out what hairstyle would mean they would escape or the route.
