Àjàkájù Controversy: Filmmaker apologises, awards Best-Dressed Female to two ladies

Eniola Ajao, the producer of ‘Àjàkájù (Beasts of Two Worlds)’, has reversed her decision regarding the ‘Best Dressed Female’ award presented at the movie’s premiere held on Sunday at Circle Mall, Lekki, Lagos State.

Bobrisky’s emergence as ‘Best Dressed Female’ with an award of N1 million sparked numerous controversies and ignited endless social media debates.

The ‘Best Dressed Male’ won by ex-BBNaija housemate Groovy with N1 million went unnoticed.

Bobrisky’s ‘Best Dressed Female’ award was condemned—described as disrespectful to women, Nigerian culture, and tradition.

Eniola, in a statement on her Instagram page Wednesday, apologised for the distress and turmoil the award caused and announced new winners for the ‘Best Dressed Female’ category.

The statement signed by Abigail Akinrinmade of The Hype Agency read in parts: “I write to you today with a heavy heart, filled with regret and remorse over the events that unfolded at my movie premiere, Beast of Two Worlds ‘Àjàkájù’ on Sunday, 24 March 2024. I address you all today, taking full responsibility and seeking your pardon with my deepest regrets for the distress and turmoil caused by the events surrounding the selection of Best Dressed at the premiere of ‘Àjàkájù’.

“To make amends and correct my mistakes, I have decided to honour two females, Bode Alao and one other beautiful woman, as the best-dressed females at the premiere. Each will receive N1 million as a token of my sincere apology and appreciation for their grace and elegance.”

‘Womanhood’

Eniola, who made her acting debut in the 2004 ‘Ìgbà Aìmọ̀’ movie, apologised to women angered by her actions.

The Lagos-born actress emphasised the importance of upholding and honouring the gender with dignity and respect, saying, ‘’As a woman, I value these principles deeply.’’

I never knew I would become the General Evangelist, I did not give my life to Christ because of Evangelism or positions in the church, I was a member of the Baptist church before I met Christ at a great CAC revival in Osogbo, (led by Prophet T O Obadare). So I did not stop attending CAC since then because It was a bible cultured lifestyle, You pray till something happen.

One remarkable night; "You are to judge if this was mercy, grace or luck or whatever you think happened to me," For me to encounter God and Apostle Ayo Babalola in the spiritual realm that manifested physically immediately.

It was indeed a night of POWER ENCOUNTER for me as the youths of the CAC Araromi where I worshiped back then in Osogbo town were observing a 9-day vigil for all the youth. On the last day, there was a heavy downpour that night to the extent of flooding. It was not safe, there was a total blackout while lightenings from thunders were my only means to see. I left the house that night for the church in the midst of the heavy downpour.

I got to the church so late because there were no vehicles or bikes, so I had to trek, I was so happy going because the night before, the voice of God came and said our prayers had been answered, the eighth day of the vigil people manifested in the Holy Spirit, as a youth it was powerful, people prophecy, spoke in tongues and deliverance was on all of us. It was glorious.

So on getting to the church, the security man saw me and was not happy because I had come for a vigil that had been cancelled due to the heavy rain. He was sad and lamented why I had to risk coming through a heavy downpour, at that time of the day and I explained that I trekked, he knew the only option was for me to sleep in the church. He even compelled me and planned to give me a torchlight and said I should go back home than sleep in the church. So I told him I would sleep because I already told people at home I was going for the last day of the vigil, so we came to an agreement.

Lo and behold, as I lay on the altar to pray and relax, An elderly man and some men, I was sure I saw three people appeared unto me and the older man asked me, "Where are the other youth members?" I could not respond because the POWER of God had already overshadowed both my physical and spiritual being. I was not dreaming but I could also know I was not alone and those I saw were not members of the church, So I asked why they were there and I told them due to the heavy rain the vigil as been cancelled.

Then, the oldest was holding a bottle of oil in His hand and He said to me, 'Kneel, we have an assignment for you,' I was forced to ask who they are, He said 'I am Jesus, Ayo Babalola, and Samson Akande'. I was so shocked and knelt and Jesus gave the oil to Apostle Ayo Babalola and he anointed me and they prayed for me and I fell down and slept off.

Later I think the security man heard the sound of my fall and rushed to check and I woke up, I saw the oil on my body physically, the security man asked if I brought oil or where I saw oil this much, he checked if I have broken the oil around the altar but he also saw there was no oil.

This marked the beginning of the manifestation of the POWER of God in me, I was so ready for evangelism, I was hungry to pray, I was hungry to study my bible, I was hungry to be in His presence. Till date I never knew I would enter the shoes of Apostle Ayo Babalola, all my steadfastness was to be a catechist until when I go out for evangelism and people will gather to listen, miracles and the signs of ministry were everywhere until God raises that small boy in Omifunfun, A Story for another day.

It has been written that, "And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified."

PHOTOS: Tinubu signs historic agreement with Qatar

President Bola Tinubu alongside the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, on Sunday, March 3, witnessed the signing of agreements between the nations in Doha.

The agreement leverages the potential of mutual cooperation in sectors including education, enterprise development, youth empowerment, sports, mining amongst others.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by Special Adviser to Tinubu on Media & Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, and shared on the X handle of the Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, on Sunday.

The statement reads in part: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and His Highness, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, on Sunday in Doha, witnessed the signing of historic agreements between both nations, opening a gateway for leveraging the potential of mutual cooperation in pivotal sectors of education, enterprise development, investment promotion, youth empowerment, mining, tourism, and sports.

“Before the signing ceremony at the Qatar Presidential Palace, President Tinubu assured his host of Nigeria’s preparedness to welcome investors into the country, noting the ongoing reforms that favour innovation, return on investments, and multiculturalism.

"Our greatest strength is our people. Our strength lies in the capacity of Nigerian youths. They have energy, talent, and self-belief. They are quality partners for Qatari industry. They are educated and reliable, and they are proactively seeking to add value wherever they are. A few cannot give a bad name to the many. Nigerian youths are ready to be unleashed for the mutual benefit of both nations.

"We have seen clearly the rapid pace and thorough quality of Qatar's development process. It is impossible not to be moved by what you have accomplished. The leadership in the country has proven its mettle, and we are here to gain deeper insight.

"There is nowhere in the world where you will find return on investment at the level of what you will see in Nigeria. A massive market of over 200 million skilled Nigerians, always industrious and ready to work.

"We face some short-term turbulence at the moment, but we have a government today that reflects the dynamism and talent of the Nigerian people. We are implementing the right solutions. This team works collaboratively with each other and our partners. Nigeria is ready for serious business," the President stated.

“The Emir of the State of Qatar, His Highness, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, emphasized that Qatar is open to President Tinubu's investment push, recalling that he traveled to Nigeria in 2019 owing to his belief that Nigeria is an important and strategic ally on its own and within the context of its role in regional affairs.

"I have no doubt about the great capacity of the Nigerian people. Everywhere in the world, they are known for their brilliance and hard work. We only need to ensure that this is happening inside of Nigeria rather than outside. The investments we have made around the world have been very fruitful. This is because we take our time and study opportunities before we invest the common wealth of our people. It is not my money. The money we invest belongs to the future generations of Qatar.”

An Abia State Univerisity lecturer identified as Anucha Wisdom proposed to his fiancee in her classroom on Wednesday.

Pictures and videos now circulating on Facebook showed the moment Wisdom went down on a knee with a ring in his hands to propose to his lover who is said to be a student in the Optometry Deparment of the university in the presence of her colleagues.

The screamings from her colleagues became louder as she nodded to his proposal.

✍️ Ivory Coast mobilized support for Morocco to beat Zambia so that they can qualify. Some of those clapping for you now and supporting you may not be your real friends. They may just be using your success for their gain. Morocco went home after helping Ivory Coast to qualify for the final. Don't let anyone use you for any gain that doesn't benefit you.
✍️ South African goalkeeper stopped 4 penalties against Cape Verde, and we're so confident. They wanted the match against Nigeria to end in penalties so that they would win.
