ISWAP Terrorists Bomb Key Bridge in Yobe, Cut Off Communities in Fresh Attack
Suspected fighters of the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) have launched a fresh attack on Yobe State, destroying a strategic bridge that connects Ngurbuwa village to Goniri Township in Gujba Local Government Area.
Security sources confirmed to counter-terrorism analyst Zagazola Makama that the militants detonated Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) on the bridge around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, severing access between Goniri and the notorious Sambisa Forest.
The destroyed bridge, built in 1997, served as a vital link for residents and commuters moving between communities and accessing farmlands, hospitals, and markets in Damaturu and Buni Yadi.
A local vigilante, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that the terrorists launched the attack shortly after infiltrating Goniri Township under the cover of darkness.
