No Amount Of Intimidation Will Change Our Focus On Governance - Governor Fubara

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara made this declaration on Wednesday at the Yakubu Gowon Township Stadium, Port Harcourt during the 2024 May Day Celebration

While acknowledging the power of the people, Governor Fubara said despite his government being troubled he will not loose focus because of the power of the people which is the determinant of government.

The governor hinted that he is committed to implementing the increase in workers’ salaries recently approved by the Federal Government as soon as the parameters are made available.

Fubara restated his disposition to the workers welfare which led to his implementation of promotion and payment of accrued benefits to all categories of civil servants who were stagnated in the past 10 years

In highlighting some of his policy actions since he assumed office, Gov. Fubara pointed out that his government has reactivated and restored some facilities and services in the secretariat complex, and commissioned a rep**able international company to scope the entire complex in order to advise on the cost of a comprehensive rehabilitation of the entire secretariat complex.

The governor also noted that he has approved the recruitment of 1000 doctors and other medical personnel to strengthen the State’s healthcare delivery system to enable everyone access quality healthcare in the State

Sir Fubara further stated that his administration approved and released the sum of N250,000,000 for the completion of the Secretariat building of the Nigerian Union of Teachers

The Governor also Donated N100 million to workers for the May Day Celebration

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, on Monday inaugurated an additional aircraft, Airbus 220 - 300 in the fleet of the state owned airline, Ibom Air

He, alongside his Executive Council members, flew from Victor Attah International Airport in Uyo to Lagos State.

Federal Government has flagged off the 62km Port Harcourt - Aba train service

The flag off means the rail line can be used by members of the public who ply the route.

Inaugurating operations on Tuesday, the Minister of Transportation, Sen. Said Alkali, said his Ministry was in discussions with an investor on retrofitting locomotives from diesel to CNG to further bring down the cost of transportation.

Alkali, who took a train ride from Port Harcourt to Aba, said it signalled the commencement of passenger train services along the corridor.

He said the corridor would be linked to Enugu and connected to the Onne and Port Harcourt ports to stimulate commerce.

The train fare is N1500 for first class and N800 for second class.
