*SENATE TO INTRODUCE DIASPORA VOTING, MANDATE ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSION OF ELECTION RESULTS*
Ahead of the 2027 elections, the Senate is set to amend the Electoral Act to allow for diaspora voting, at least for presidential elections, to enable citizens to vote, especially those on essential service abroad, such as military, paramilitary, and other security personnel abroad, Embassy staff, and other citizens.

The Senate in a communiqué issued at the end of its retreat in Ikot Ikpene, Akwa-Ibom state also resolved to also, make electronic transmission of results mandatory from the next general elections in 2027, including the uploading of polling unit-level results and result sheets used at different levels of result collation.

In events preceding and after the election that brought President Bola Tinubu into power, there were a lot of agitations to allow Nigerians abroad to take part in the elections.

Also, a number of Nigerians called for the electronic transmission of results from the BVAS machine.

The Senate noted that it was necessary for the Independent National Electoral Commission should be unbundled to improve its efficiency and effectiveness in the preparation and conduct of elections.

The communiqué stated, “Relating to the use of technology in elections, remove the ambiguity evident in Section 64 of the EA22. Also, make electronic transmission of results mandatory from the next general elections in 2027, including the uploading of polling unit-level results and result sheets used at different levels of result collation.

“Introduce diaspora voting, at least for presidential elections, to enable citizens to vote, especially those on essential service abroad, such as military, paramilitary, and other security personnel abroad, Embassy staff, and other citizens.

“Relating to political parties; stipulate sanctions for failure to submit the register of party members not later than 30 days before the date of party primaries, congresses, or conventions in relation to Section 77(3) EA22, which the political parties have observed in the breach in the 2023 elections without penalty

Afor Youths Meet with Olisa

The leadership of Afor Clan Youth Council, today, met with Dr Charles Olisa, Commissioner representing Ndokwa Nation on the board of DESOPADEC. The group led by Comrade Robinson Okpue, said following their observations of the leadership style of the Commissioner since he assumed office, they were convinced that so many beneficial things would happen under the leadership of Dr Charles Olisa, which prompted them to visit him, first, to congratulate him and also to seek ways of partnership for the good of the youths.

The leader of the group, Comrade Robinson Okpue, said they were pleased with Dr Olisa's leadership style and enjoined him to continue in the direction he was travelling. He also assured the Commissioner of their support.

On his part, Dr Charles Olisa thanked them for coming. He told them he was one of them in every way and would ensure that what was due the people from the Commission will not be denied them. He also assured the delegation of making them proud with this opportunity he got to be of service to the people.

A former SSA to Delta State Governor on Health Monitoring, Dr. Michael Nwoko has described the victory of Senator Ned Munir Nwoko at the National Assembly Election petition tribunal Sitting in Asaba as a testament of the People’s will.

Dr. Nwoko made the assertion in an interview on Delta television breakfast programme, Morning Ride on 08/09/2023.

Dr. Nwoko applauded the tribunal’s stance on the case which dismissed the labour party and Apc suit against Senator Ned Munir Nwoko, the Independent National Electoral Commission and the People’s Democratic Party for lack of merit adding that it is an affirmation of the overwhelming victory recorded by Senator Prince Ned Munir Nwoko on the 25th of February

He described Senator Ned Nwoko as the people’s choice whose leadership and selfless traits would propel him to stay true to his campaign promises for the overall good of Delta northerners.

Dr. Nwoko noted that there would be synergy between the State government and the Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District for the overall good of Deltans as both the Governor and Delta North senator have been staunch members of the PDP and are resolutely committed to ensuring meaningful and sustainable development in the State.

He called on those who lost the elections and tribunal judgement to join hands with the Government in moving the State forward.

JUST IN: Ned Nwoko takes legal action against Nwaoboshi over "blatant falsehoods"

The senator representing Delta North senatorial district, Senator Ned Munir Nwoko, has taken legal action against Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, raising concerns about defamation, outright lies.

The suit, filed on Monday, in the Federal High Court in Abuja, raised that Nwaoboshi, who received a prison sentence on July 1, 2022, from the appellate court in Lagos State due to a two-count money laundering conviction, is leveling accusations against Senator Ned Nwoko as the instigator of his imprisonment. He claims that Senator Ned Nwoko and the immediate past Attorney General of Nigeria, Abubakar Malami, conspired to put him in prison.
Nwaoboshi, the former Senator for Delta North Senatorial District, spent over a year in a correctional center due to a billion-naira loan deal he insisted he had no involvement in. The crux of the lawsuit centers on Nwaoboshi’s public statements after his release from prison, during which he made derogatory remarks about Senator Ned Nwoko and the judiciary. He implied that Nwoko had bribed judges to secure his imprisonment.

The lawsuit also raised that, Nwaoboshi, in one of his interviews claimed that Ned Nwoko paid the sum of $1.5 million to judges to put him in prison. Such unsubstantiated statements according to the suit, were derogatory not only towards Senator Ned Nwoko but also towards the integrity of the judiciary itself.

In an interview with The Nation newspaper, Nwaoboshi was quoted as saying that during his legal proceedings, they had influenced justices with funds from the Paris Club, offering one of the justices an appointment in the Supreme Court of Nigeria to sway the judgment in their favour.

Nwaoboshi’s accusations could inadvertently create skepticism regarding the trustworthiness of judges, insinuating that they can be easily swayed by external influences. This raises concerns about the broader implications of his statements on the judicial system and the public’s perception of its integrity.
In the suit, Senator Ned Nwoko argued that, Nwaoboshi linking him to his many legal travails is a malicious scheme to inflame passion against him (Ned) in the desperation that doing so will aid his quest to nullify the last senatorial election on 25 February 2023 which heldwhile he (Nwaoboshi) was incarcerated.

Senator Ned Nwoko is seeking, “The sum of N500, 000, 000, 000. 00 (five hundred billion naira) damages for defamation of character.”
“AN ORDER directing the defendant to publish an open apology in at least two (2) newspapers circulating nationwide, to the claimant.”
“AN ORDER of perpetual injunction restraining the defendant either by himself or through his privies further defaming the name, character and person of the claimant through any medium whatsoever or verbally.”
Senator Ned Nwoko is also seeking, “ANY other suitable legal or equitable reliefs as the court may deem necessary.”
Ned Nwoko is also pressing Nwaoboshi to provide specific details. He insists that Nwaoboshi must name the judges involved in the alleged misconduct, particularly the one he vowed to stop from being promoted to the Supreme Court.

The Honorable Commissioner representing Ndokwa Ethnic Nationality, Dr Charles Olisa today inspected the ongoing drainage project along the Ashaka-Ushie Road.

The commissioner in company of the Ministry of environment Taskforce and the Health and Environment department of Ndokwa East made the inspection tour.

Dr. Olisa stated that the DESOPADEC is aiming at controlling the yearly flash flooding, which usually hampers movement of commuters, during the raining season.

"The Commission is working towards minimizing the effect of flash flooding, occasioned by seasonal rainfall. I also want to advise residents to avoid littering the drainages with plastic containers and other materials capable of blocking the drainage" said Dr Charles.

The Head of the Taskforce from the Ministry of environment, Comr. Kingsley Iweka and the HOD Health and environment Ndokwa East, Mr Akpe Monday appreciated the interventionist agency. They stressed that the maintenance of drainages in the Ndokwa West and East mandate areas will cushion the effects of the flash floods.

In a related development, the permanent site of the Commission was inspected by the Hon. Dr Charles and his team.

The commissioner stated that it was needful to revive the structure in view of resources already deployed.

"We are looking forward to proposing a sustainable plan that will see to the completion of this permanent site. We won't do this without a recourse to the architectural master plan, Dr Olisa stated.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has a tendency for happy energy. His easy gait is not a passing fancy. Even a casual observer can never fail to notice his unpretentious ordinariness.

An admirable human element the former Speaker of Delta state House of Assembly has taken to his new gubernatorial post. Whether seated in his office or outside as governor, he exudes a cordial countenance that signals friendship and empathy.

Going by his cheerful beginning, there is a welcoming tide in the affairs of Delta. He talks and thinks with much optimism. He walks and works with affectionate pursuit of his promise to Deltans – M.O.R.E agenda.

The first exciting step he took, three days after his swearing-in as governor, was the inspection of Sector ‘A’ and Sector ‘C’ of the Ughelli-Asaba road dualisation project. A perceptive leader who understands that government is a continuous engagement.

Oborevwori’s prompt attention to the strategic road linking parts of the three senatorial districts in the state is wise. The completion of the road, so dear to Deltans would certainly ramp up socio economic activities in the state.

While the people earnestly await the construction of the 42.5km sector A, spanning Emevor and the Sector C, criss -crossing Ogwashi – Uku, the governor’s assurance to provide adequate funding denotes his seriousness.

In another swift tour of duty, Governor Oborevwori stormed Ughelli weeks later directing immediate relocation of all traders and businessmen along East/West road by Otovwodo junction. The aim -to bring sanity to the busy road. Successive governments had counselled the traders to leave the walkways but they stayed adamant, until recently.

Heading to Warri, the commercial hub of Delta, the governor inspected on-going storm water projects and encountered residents of 1st Marine gate who lamented lack of electricity since two years. Two weeks later, he delivered a brand new transformer for public power supply to the people. This kept the Warri community agog as they expressed gratitude for being sensitive to their plight.

Nonetheless, in his avowal to make Warri and other parts of the state shine, the governor ordered the demolition of all buildings erected along waterways in the State. He noted with disapproval that there is no place in the world where people are allowed to build on waterways, urging the Ministries of Housing, Works and Lands to identify and pull down all such buildings to make way for free flow of water.

At the Warri City Stadium, Oborevwori said he was not satisfied with the work being done by the contractor and promised standard rehabilitation and quality delivery that would elicit joy and general satisfaction. This is a big deal for sports-loving Deltans.
The wave of enthusiasm moved to the famous Petroleum Training Institute PTI junction in neighbouring Effurun as the governor maintained his stride. A reconstruction project has just been initiated to boost transportation experience, ease gridlock and beautify the road.

Passionate to make Asaba the capital city more attractive, the fifth civilian governor of Delta has rolled up his sleeves to effect more transformation in Nigeria’s fastest developing state headquarters.

Projects inspected in the metropolis included the State High Court complex, Phases I and II of the Flood Control Measures on Madonna College Road, Okpanam and Drainages at Koka through Agbalusia-Ngele Street to Federal Technical College Asaba.

If Oborevwori has been active in infrastructure intervention, his responsiveness in human capital development is gracious. Days back, he approved the payment of promotion arrears worth five billion naira to workers in Delta state. Coming under Nigeria‘s harshest economic climate since the Covid-19 lockdown, the initiative is thankfully humane.

The arrears would be redeemed in three tranches, starting from this August to October 2023. A weighty windfall, it is sequel to a demand by civil servants and a pledge by Oborevwori during the state Governorship election. Politicians are notorious for deceptive campaign promises. Credibility obviously matters to Oborevwori. A governor ruling in measured steps.

His iconic predecessor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa no doubt left Delta to a firm yet friendly hand. Man proposes. God promotes.

Oborevwori- so far, so fair.

DUKE MUST GO ON IMMEDIATE SUSPENSION OVER ANARCHICAL STATEMENT.

Highly provocative and anarchical statement had been made by the present President General of the Abbi General Youths Mr Duke Omolu.

Mr Duke, the supposed President General of Abbi youths on 22nd of Oct 2021 eke market said" in previous youth Government death was recorded, it doesn't mean if another is recorded in his time", Duke being angry that he is not in control of eke market made such inflammatory statement.

Mr. Duke who further showed attitude that is detrimental to the unity of Abbi said that "if the market tussle will bring war between Echala and Okwele, let the war come..."

These statements for whatever reason, is totally unacceptable if we all clamour for the unity of Abbi.

The elder before now took the Eke market from the Abbi youths because of inappropriation of funds from the market.

The elders through the three-quarters Onotu-uku selected 3 people each from the three quarters of Abbi to be working pending when the issue with the youths is duly resolved.

The president General in the absence of all his immediate executive went to the market on 22nd with some okwele persons, chasing those the elders had put in the market and from there made these statements that can trigger more issues against the unity of Abbi.

While the Abbi youths were handling the market, money proceeding from the market had been major issue as the youths financial department has issues of misappropriation of funds with the elders and the rest youths.

The elders had called on all those working in the market to return to work as all legal means had been put in place to checkmate any form of rebellion.

Moreso, the rest executive of Abbi youth claims to be innocent from the act of the president General....

Where are the monies the youths derived all the time they worked at the market??????

As it stands now... There's a halt and for Abbi General Youth to be in total peace, Duke must go on indefinite immediate suspension pending when his case is resolved.....

Duke went on his own without consulting his executives and but if any one supports him in this ill manner, such will be suspended alongside.....

This is a resolution reached from an impromptu meeting of a committee of concerned youths headed by Vice President General Sen Rich Kay today.
