Good News: Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago of Niger State has ordered the hiring of Karota workers on a full-time basis.

For more than thirteen years, Karota people in Niger State have been working as temporary workers, where most of them earn less than ten to fifteen thousand.

Today, Alh Salihu Usman, the General Director of the first zone of the state, handed some of the employees a letter of employment.

This development affects the welfare of all of them and some of the VIO members who are working in temporary positions.

DISTRIBUTION OF RAMADAN FEEDING IN VARIOUS LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREAS

Monday to Friday next week have been declared public holiday. This is to enable Civil Servants and Political office holders participate in the distribution and monitoring of the Palliatives and Ramadan feeding in their various Local Government Areas.

The State Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Hon Binta Mamman, made the declaration in a Press Statement yesterday in her office. She enjoined Nigerlites to seize the opportunity to pray for the peace and tranquility of our State and Nation as a whole. The Commissioner while appealing to the Civil Servants and Political office holders to see this task as a call for service to humanity.

She urged Citizens to cooperate with the State's Officials and be orderly at all distribution and feeding points for smooth and successful exercise. She then thanked Farmer Governor Mohammed Umar Bago for making funds available and prayed Allah (SWT) to guide him in running the affairs of the State.

Minna-Bida Road: The Final Stage.

The Reconstruction, Upgrading & Dualization of Minna-Bida Road received a huge boost as the 3 pre-qualified and shortlisted Companies submitted their Financial Bids for the 82km Project at the New Niger Office, Minna. The companies are Triacta Nigeria Limited, CGC Nigeria Limited and Arab Contractors.

The Minna-Bida Road is a major economic corridor and is expected to boost industrialization of the State, as it will eventually become the longest dual carriage in the State, at a length of 82km.

The project is among the key development objectives of the Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago administration, and a key success factor for the State's Agricultural Revolution drive, as it will facilitate the prompt evacuation and movement of agricultural produces in Niger State.

It would be recalled that early last year, the Niger State Government placed Invitation for Pre-qualification on 13th and 14th February, 2023 in Two (2) National Dailies; The Nations and Leadership Newspapers respectively. Pre-qualification documents were issued to the interested Applicants after the publication of the Specific Procurement Notice. A total of Eleven (11) companies submitted their interest. The opening was conducted on the 14th of March 2023, as indicated in the specific procurement notice and the Bid Data Sheet, in the presence of Applicants who chose to attend.

Eventually, after the Evaluation processes, following all standard procedures, Five (5) Companies were issued with No Objection Report, namely;

1.Triacta Nigeria Limited,
2. CGC Nigeria Limited
3. Arab Contractors O.A Nigeria Ltd/ Arab Contractors O.A Co. (Egypt) (JV)
4. China Communication Construction Company Nigeria Limited (CCCCNL) and
5. Hitech Construction Company Limited/ ITB Nigeria Limited (JV).

Subsequently, the companies were invited to submit their financial bids on 30th January 2024, followed by today's opening of Financial Bids at the New Niger Office.

The remaining Two (2) Companies were unable to meet up with the time of submission.

All things being equal, the companies are expected to receive their Award Letters on the 1st of April 2024, followed by the official Contract Signing.

The official groundbreaking for the Minna-Bida Road project is expected to hold on the 2nd April 2024.

FARMER GOVERNOR UMARU BAGO NAMES STATE POLYTECHNIC ZUNGERU AFTER HAUSA LITERARY ICON ABUBAKAR IMAM KAGARA

Niger State Government has named the State Polytechnic Zungeru to Abubakar Imam Kagara Polytechnic.

Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago announced this while granting live interview on TVC New at 10 o'clock to discuss further on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's State visit to commission projects.

He said the naming of the Institution after the great Literary icon was simply to "put a square peg in a square hole.

The Farmer Governor recounted the significant contributions of the famous Hausa author to not only the State but the country at large particularly northern Nigeria, pointing out that naming academic institutions after the Literary Icon was the best.

Speaking on why he renamed the Airport after Bola Ahmed Tinubu, less than a year after it was named the Abubakar Imam Kagara International Airport along with other Airports in the country, Farmer Governor Umaru Bago said it was in appreciation of the President, for granting approval to the State to establish the first special Airport Agro-Processing Free Zone in Nigeria and his immense contributions to nation building.

He also said that the State Government under his leadership has been enjoying tremendous support from the Tinubu-led government adding that the President is an astute politician and great leader that should be celebrated.

The Farmer Governor disclosed that renaming of the Airport was done after consultations with relevant stakeholders including the State Executive Council members and got the approval of the President.

FARMER GOVERNOR UMARU BAGO AMONGST SYMPATHIZERS AT THE FUNERAL FOR LATE FATHER-IN-LAW OF FORMER DEPUTY GOVERNOR, AHMED MOHAMMED KETSO

Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago joined several other symphatizers that observed the funeral for late Alh. Abubakar Adam, the Father-In-Law of former Deputy Governor, Ahmed Mohammed Ketso.

The Funeral which was held at the Minna Central Mosque was led by the Chief Imam of Minna, Malam Ibrahim Isah Fari.

Farmer Governor Umaru Bago who condoled with the former Deputy Governor over the loss, prayed to Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased while also calling on family members to remain steadfast in praying for the repose of his soul.

The Farmer Governor was also at the Kpakungu Muslim Cemetery where the remains of the late Abubakar Adam were laid to rest amidst series of prayers offered for the deceased.

Late Alh. Abubakar Adam was until his death, the District Head of Ketso and the Tswadya of Kede Community.

He died at the age of 80, leaving behind 14 children and many grandchildren.

Among his children is Aisha Mohammed Ketso, Wife of Former Deputy Governor Ahmed Mohammed Ketso.

PRESIDENT TINUBU GUARANTEES CONTINUED SUPPORT TO THE FARMER GOVERNOR OF NIGER STATE TO FEED THE NATION

***INAUGURATES AIRPORT RENAMED AFTER HIM AND AGRICULTURAL MECHANIZATION EQUIPMENT IN MINNA

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria has guaranteed continued support to the Farmer Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago to achieve his desire of feeding the nation.

President Tinubu made the promise when he inaugurated equipment for mechanized agricultural activities and the irrigation system for the special Agro Processing Free Zone as well as the remodelled and upgraded International Airport renamed after him in Minna.

The President who commended the level of commitment and leadership style of Governor Umaru Bago, said he must support the Governor.

According to him, "I can guarantee you of Federal support. I will partner with you to banish hunger. You are doing the job, and working the talks.

He encouraged him to continue with his aggressive and strong determination to be the number one to feed the nation.

Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago in his remarks, said the State is well positioned to produce 50 million metric tons of assorted food crops annually and be the largest sub-national food exporter in Nigeria.

In achieving this target, the Farmer Governor disclosed that the State Government is determined to attract investments, private sector equity and loans totalling 500 billion Naira annually over the next seven years.

The Farmer Governor also disclosed that the construction of a canal to harness water from the Shiroro Dam is in the pipeline to irrigate 90,000 hectares comprising 236 kilometres of irrigation canals and other associated engineering infrastructure to expand the agricultural production capacity of the State.

He assured that the state would contribute significantly to the federal government's strategic reserve as it will ensure that all the arable lands in the state are cultivated, adding that the idea would curb insecurity in the state as there will no more be hiding place for kidnappers and banditry activities.

"We as a state will be pleased to provide the federal government with the platform for contract farming for the National Strategic Grain Reserve with vast potential to produce 2 million metric tons of food for the strategic reserves annually.

"This partnership will not only bolster our state's economy but also strengthen the nation's drive towards sustainable food security and resilience against external shocks".

While outlining his administration's achievements and intentions in the area of agriculture and infrastructural development, the Farmer Governor said his administration has invested in agricultural machinery and technology as it has procured tractors, harvesters, solar irrigation water pumps, Pivot Irrigation Systems, metric tons of NPK/UREA Fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides and has also embarked on land preparation and cultivation across the state.

He then called for Federal Government support in the development of Baro Port, the Kainji National Park, and Dry Inland Port Terminals at Bida, Mokwa, Babanna, and Suleja, stressing doing so would accelerate growth and prosperity for all.

On the remodelled and upgraded Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Farmer Governor said the Airport has hitherto been in a State of comatose with the failed runway, dilapidated terminal, absence of fire and safety equipment and runway lighting system among others adding that the domestic terminal which had been under construction for over a decade was abandoned.

He applauded the support of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN)for providing quality guidance for the intervention and rehabilitation of the Airport to a global standard.

The Farmer Governor appreciated the President for approving this Airport as a special Agro-processing Free Zone for greenhouses; dairy and meat processing, and Agro-processing storage, aggregation, and other value chain development components.

Minister for Agriculture and Food Security, Sen. Abubakar Kyari said Farmer Governor Umaru Bago has keyed into Mr President's exemplifying champion spirit for sustainable agricultural development.

The Minister recounted the efforts of the Federal government towards the realization of food security in the Country, adding that the Federal Ministry of Agriculture is canvassing partnerships with State governments and all the Ministries, Departments and Agencies as well as relevant institutions to achieve the desired objective.

In their separate goodwill messages, the Governor of Kwara State AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, his Lagos and Benue State counterparts Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia respectively, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, commended Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago for the feat attained in Agriculture adding that with such level of commitment, and others borrowing a leave from it, the food security agenda of the Federal government would be achieved.

The Estu Nupe and Chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alh. Yahaya Abubakar appreciated the President and other guests for visiting and identifying with the laudable efforts of the state government.

The Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, former Governors of Niger State, serving and former lawmakers both at the Federal and State levels, members of the State Executive Council, APC leaders both at the National and State levels, Religious and Traditional leaders, and other top government functionaries were present at the event.

NIGER STATE GOVERNMENT TO DISTRIBUTE GRAINS PALLIATIVE NEXT WEEK
***RAMADAN FEEDING CENTRES TO BE SET UP IN LGAs

Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago has disclosed that the 120 trucks of assorted grains procured by the State Government to complement the 46 trucks of food palliative by the Federal government will commence next week.

The Farmer Governor made the disclosure when he met with all the Emirs from the eight Emirate Councils, the 25 Local Government Council Chairmen and the Imams Forum at the Government House Minna.

He said the distribution will be done across all the 25 local government areas of the State and will be coordinated by all the Emirs in the 8th Emirate Councils.

The Farmer Governor further stated that Council Chairmen, Religious Leaders, security agents and all other relevant stakeholders in the State will be included in the distribution process to ensure effective and fair distribution.

He advised all involved to be responsible and not sabotage the effort as anyone found wanting would be dealt with accordingly.

On the forthcoming Ramadan, the Farmer Governor disclosed that feeding centres would be established in all the Local government areas of the State to feed Muslims in the month of Ramadan.

He appreciated the Religious Scholars for their fervent prayers and encouraged them to continue to pray for the State and the Country at large for prosperity.

Etsu Nupe and Chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers Alh. Yahaya Abubakar who commended Farmer Governor for his leadership style, said Traditional Institutions will harmonise their structures, that of the State down to the Ward level to achieve the desired results.

Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago says fervent prayers is what is required to seek Allah's divine intervention in the challenges confronting the Nation.

Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago has called on religious leaders to sustain prayers for the Nation to
surmount all the challenges confronting it.

Farmer Governor Umaru Bago stated this at a Special prayer session held in his honour at the Hauwa Wali Multi-Purpose Hall, Government House, Minna.

The Farmer Governor who commended the organizers for the session, said prayers are the most important birthday gift to him especially at 50 years of his existence.

He said he will continue to be thankful to Allah for all His favours and good health he has to him through the years.

Farmer Governor Umaru Bago used the medium to remind people of the need to live an impactful life to be remembered for.

The Director General, Religious Affairs, Mallam Umar Farooq Abdullahi led other Islamic Scholars in a Special prayer session for continued guidance and wisdom from Allah to the Farmer Governor.

A series of prayers were also offered for the State in particular and the Country at large.

There was also a recitation of the Holy Quran by Students from various Islamic Schools

A copy of the Holy Qur'an and sword which symbolises strength and leadership were presented to the Farmer Governor by a renowned Islamic Scholar from Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi's Foundation.

The Farmer Governor was joined by his Deputy, Comrade Yakubu Garba and some members of the State Executive Council.

The wife of the Farmer Governor and First Lady of the State, Hajiya Fatima Umaru Bago and her entourage also attended the Special Prayer Session

NIGER STATE GOVERNMENT REACHES AGREEMENT WITH ORGANIZED LABOUR

Niger State Government and the Organized Labour have reached an agreement on all issues that led to industrial action embarked upon by the Labour Union in the State.

Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago stated this while addressing Journalists shortly after a closed-door meeting between the State Government and Organized Labour at the Government House, Minna.

The Farmer Governor revealed that all pending issues have been resolved, pointing out that most of the issues were inherited from previous Governments.

He said there was a mutual understanding during the meeting and resolutions were reached leading to the signing of agreement by the parties involved.

The State NLC Chairman, Comrade Abdulkareem Lafene who also addressed journalists collaborated on what the State Government said.

He disclosed that a Tripartite Committee comprising representatives from the State government, State House of Assembly and the Organized Labour has been set up to look at the laws on the issue of appointments of Executive Directors among others with the view to finding lasting solution to the issue .

The NLC Chairman said his team will report the outcome of the meeting back to other leaders of the Council for further and necessary actions.

The agreement reached by both parties centred on some appointments made by the Farmer Governor, wage award, 2019 leave grant, liability of third-party deductions and consequential adjustments among others.

While the State Head of Service, Salisu Abubakar, and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Abubakar Aliyu signed on behalf of the State Government, the NLC State Chairman Abdulkareem Idirs Lafene, TUC State Chairman, Comrade Ibrahim Gana, JPSNC State Secretary, Comrade Anna Simon and State Chairman JAC, Comrade Aminu Mahmud signed for the Organized Labour with the condition that the industrial action would be suspended while discussions continue.
