These are 30 some years apart. You can clearly see the upgrade and improvement. It wasn't the government that brought the upgrade (at least not directly). Clearly, our respective communities blended with the new ways of doing almost everything but farming.

Thanks to the internet, we can learn the latest style of almost everything.

If you compare the buildings of 30 years ago and that of today in our communities, you see massive difference. Compare our dressings and you see a lot of changes too.

However, there's a very critical area that have received less innovation and improvement in our communities that we're not seeing enough.

Walk with me!

1. Data from our communities now shows food is more expensive and much more harder to get now than it were 30 years ago although we're more richer today.

2. The farms are less fertile today than they were 30 years ago and they will be less fertile next year.

3. Our communities have witnessed more than 100% increase in population.

4. As a result of 3 above, the farms are becoming less adequate for our growing populations.

5. Our communities have less trees today than they had 30 years ago.

6. Most of our communities are farming today the same way they did 30 years ago.

7. Agriculture was for the poor 30 years ago but it's for the rich now.

Questions

1. Are we not beginning to see children drop out of school in our communities because of hunger?

2. Are we not beginning to find difficulties getting firewoods for cooking in our communities?

3. The rich (politicians especially) are mostly venturing into agriculture. Can't we see that they are using their control on food production, processing and marketing as tool for extortion to gain more?

3. In our communities, are we not seeing a very small population of our educated youths in agriculture?

4. Are we not worried that the educated youths are not bringing into agriculture enough of the innovations available?

5. Is it not high time for us to sit at community levels to begin to discuss how we can tackle these problems? (Government is not serious).

A community that can't feed itself will eventually un-wanttedly welcome moral decay and collapse.

No one is safe in a hungry community even you that only visits occasionally.

Change would always happen, but only the changes we checkmate best serve our interest.

There are many things we can do at community levels to help ourselves tackle food insecurity.

Finding the right agribusiness to venture in is the goal. But very few are seeing it. By the time it becomes too obvious that agriculture is the way, it would be hard to venture in. With this information, you can swing your entire faculties into work or store in your bedroom like how our mothers kept this kwalla in bedrooms for 20 years without using it.

When there's war, food prices go up.
When there's drought, food prices go up.
When there's flooding, food prices go up.
When there's an outbreak, food prices go up.
When there's a natural disaster, food prices go up.
When the government is corrupt, food prices go up.
When roads are bad, food prices go up.
When transportation is expensive, food prices go up.
When the economy is bad food prices go up.

Just one of the above is enough to bring hunger. But in Nigeria we suffer almost all of them at once. Capitalize on this opportunity.

Nothing is as necessary for all people of all places as food.
You buy and store grains, you make cool money.
