PROTEST SHIFTED TO OCTOBER 1ST WITH THE FOLLOWING 7 CONDITIONS TO GOVERNMENT
We the Nigerian people under umbrella of GOOD NIGERIAN MOVEMENT hereby wish to announce our collective intention to halt any form of protest within Nigeria and shift it to next 2 months of 1st October if the following conditions are not met by our government.

1. That Nigeria Government Must temporally remove all import duties on food and food items due to the present hunger in the land. Government must provide incentives for farmers in this planting rainy season and secure our forests to protect farmers from terrorists and preserve their crops by storage during harvest.

2. That Federal Government having removed fuel subsidy over a year MUST strictly start now to making crude oil available to our local refineries in naira as promised on 29th July 2024 at the Federal Executive Council meeting Abuja. We cannot allow International Oil Companies IOC and NNPC or anyone to keep us in perpetual importation of refined Petroleum products at high price while we keep exporting our raw crude. Our local refineries must work now.

3. That Nigeria Government at all levels MUST remove all the fuel queue at all the filling stations across the country by making the petroleum products available at reasonable price. This will further positively affect price of food and commodities in our markets to be reduced.

4. That Nigeria Government at all levels MUST begin payment of the approved 70,000 Naira minimum wage to workers across Nigeria and making sure it is enforced. Even though the minimum wage has low purchasing power due to high inflation rate now but we look forward to a better economy soon.

5. That Nigeria Government at all levels MUST begin full implemented of the laudable pronouncement of Local Government Autonomy by Supreme Court to allow for development to all local areas.

6. That all FIRS taxes and Electricity Bills have to be restructured and made conducive for business growth, manufacturing and production of local goods to avoid killing our local manufacturers.

7. That We the Good Nigerians and our leaders should imbibe the culture of live , used and buy Made in Nigeria Products so as to encourage our naira to become stable and grow our economy.

NIGERIA WE HAIL THEE !

Protest or Not? Oyo Youth Stakeholders Weigh In on Nationwide Demonstration.

The Oyo State Agency for Youth Development recently held a stakeholders’ meeting to discuss the proposed nationwide protest. The event took place at the House of Chiefs, Parliament Building in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. It brought together various youth groups in the state, including student bodies, to voice their concerns about the country’s economic hardships, emphasizing that the protest is not politically motivated.

In his remarks, Rt. Hon. Debo Ogundoyin underscored the importance of coordination, reminding the youth that it is their constitutional right as Nigerian citizens to protest societal issues.

Hon. Titilope Gbadamosi, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Youth Initiatives (Monitoring and Delivery), encouraged the youth to be more involved in governance and to adopt a clear, development-oriented mindset.

Hon. Adebowale Falana, the Chairman of the Agency for Youth Development and the convener of the meeting, expressed gratitude for the turnout and engagement of the youth, highlighting the significance of the gathering. He reassured the participants of their civic rights and urged them to clearly outline their demands. He emphasized that Governor Seyi Makinde is committed to listening to the people’s concerns, as evidenced by his track record. Falana also stressed the need for any protest to be peaceful and non-prolonged, if deemed necessary.

The meeting saw a range of responses from the youth. While some expressed grievances and called for protests, others, particularly some student bodies, stated unequivocally that they would not participate in any protest.

Key attendees at the meeting included:
– Rt. Hon. Debo Ogundoyin, Speaker of OYHA
– Commissioner for Youth and Sport, Wasilat Adegoke
– Senior Special Assistant to the President on Youth Initiatives (Monitoring and Delivery), Hon. Titilope Gbadamosi
– Hon. Michael Ogunsina, Oyo State PDP Yout

The Ibarapa are a Yoruba people group located in the Southwestern corner of Oyo State.[1] The name of the group is derived from a local cultivar of the melon plant, known locally as Egusi Ibara, which was historically acknowledged by neighboring peoples such as the Egbas, Ibadans and Oyos to be extensively cultivated in the area.[citation needed]

Oyo: Rep Oseni Inaugurates N120m Earthmoving Equipment for Grassroots Development

Engr. Aderemi Oseni, the House of Representatives member representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency in Oyo State, on Monday, inaugurated N120 million worth of earth-moving equipment, aimed at enhancing grassroots development and ensuring food security within the federal constituency.

Oseni noted that the dire state of road networks in his constituency compelled him to procure the equipment, which includes a grader and payloader, to facilitate the seamless movement of people, goods, and services.

The lawmaker, who spoke shortly after the inauguration of the equipment in Ibadan said: "We are currently starting the rehabilitation of 80 roads in phase one of this project. Once completed, we will proceed to phase two. Additionally, we have selected certain roads in both Ido and Ibarapa East local governments for asphalt tarring.

He added, "Hiring equipment for road rehabilitation is no longer fashionable nor economical. That's why we've invested in our own. In addition to ongoing health and education projects, we've finalised plans to dig 50 boreholes in polling units to enhance water supply. Currently, we've finished three boreholes, in addition to several others commissioned prior to the elections."

While also distributing bags of rice to numerous communities as part of the measures to cushion current hardship, the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) lauded President Bola Tinubu for the release of N100 million each to lawmakers through the Federal Government Ministry of Agriculture to address the plight of the masses.

The legislator tasked Nigerians to be actively involved in the intervention of the Federal Government on road projects across the nation by reporting any contractor that indulges in the poor handling of projects to the agency's offices.

"I have been telling our committee members in the House of Representative.

Olubadan Oba Olalekan Balogun dies after two years on throne

Olubadan Olalekan Balogun
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba OlaLekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II has died after two years on the throne.

He joined his ancestors at the age of 81 on Thursday evening at the University College Hospital, Ibadan.

It was gathered that the late monarch was taken to the hospital Wednesday morning having stayed indoor throughout Tuesday on account of slight malaria fever, though, he was hail and hearty on Monday during which he personally received few guests that paid him congratulatory visits on his second year anniversary on that day.

Making this announcement was the Baba-Kekere Olubadan and his younger brother, Dr Kola Balogun in a statement by the Personal Assistant (Media) to the late monarch, Oladele Ogunsola.

According to the statement, Dr. Balogun disclosed that Oba Balogun would be buried at his Aliiwo ancestral home by 4.00pm on Friday according to Islamic rites just as he said that the State Governor Seyi Makinde, though already verbally informed, would be formally notified early in the morning.

The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has also confirmed the demise of the monarch in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, on Thursday.

The governor described the late monarch as a towering figure akin to an Iroko tree.

He wrote, “With total submission to the will of God, I announce the passing unto glory of our father, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

“A mighty Iroko has fallen; Oba Balogun has joined the ancestors.

“In Kabiyesi, Ibadanland had a cosmopolitan and well-experienced Olubadan, who made indelible marks on the sands of history and achieved greatly within a short while.

“In Kabiyesi, Ibadanland had a cosmopolitan and well-experienced Olubadan, who made indelible marks on the sands of history and achieved greatly within a short while.

“On behalf of the government and good people of the state, I condole with the immediate family of the Oba Balogun, the Olubadan-in-Council, the state Traditional Council and the people of Ibadanland. It is my prayer that God grants repose to the soul of our late monarch.”

“The passing of Oba Dr. Balogun marks the end of an era for Ibadanland, leaving behind a profound void in its rich history and heritage,” he added.

Oba Balogun spent two years on the throne of his forefathers, having been presented the Staff of Office by the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on March 11, 2022.

The late Olubadan was the first most educated to have emerged as Ibadan monarch, a British trained P.hd holder, a former university lecturer, former member of management staff of Shell British Petroleum, former gubernatorial candidate of the defunct Nigeria People’s Party, NPP, former Senator and a successful business man.

His last official outing was the Olubadan Advisory Council’s meeting which he presided over last Saturday where the decision to derobed Mogaji Akinsola, Olawale Oladoja was taken.

Nigeria and Niger border
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the reopening of Nigeria’s land and air borders with the Republic of Niger.

The president in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, also ordered the lifting of other sanctions against the country with immediate effect.

The statement noted that the directive complied with the decisions of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government at its Extraordinary Summit on February 24, 2024, in Abuja.

The President has directed that the following sanctions imposed on the Republic of Niger be lifted immediately:

(1) Closure of land and air borders between Nigeria and Niger Republic, as well as ECOWAS no-fly zone on all commercial flights to and from Niger Republic.

(2) Suspension of all commercial and financial transactions between Nigeria and Niger, as well as freeze of all service transactions, including utility services and electricity to Niger Republic.

Following the false claims made by Senator Abdul Ningi, representing Bauchi Central, that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Federal Government is operating two versions of the 2024 budget, we consider it appropriate to inform Nigerians that there is no truth whatsoever in the allegation.

Acting under the banner of Northern Senators' Forum, Senator Ningi, falsely claimed in an interview he granted BBC Hausa Service, that the National Assembly debated and passed N25 Trillion as 2024 budget and not the N28.7 Trillion that is being implemented by the Federal Government.

To begin with, President Tinubu on November 29, 2023 presented a budget of N27.5 Trillion to the joint session of the National Assembly made up of N9.92 Trillion recurrent expenditure, Debt Service N8.25 Trillion and Capital Expenditure N8.7 Trillion.

This was widely reported. He did not present a budget of N25 Trillion.

Contrary to the strange view expressed by Senator Ningi, there was no way the Senate could have debated and passed a N25 Trillion budget that was not presented to the National Assembly.

We don't expect a ranking Senator not to pay due attention to details before making wild claims.

It is also important to let Nigerians know that the budget that President Tinubu signed into law on January 1, 2024 as passed by the National Assembly was N28.7 Trillion.

The National Assembly, in its wisdom, increased the amount proposed by the Executive by N1.2 Trillion.

In the spirit of democracy which allows give and take, President Tinubu didn't withhold his assent to the Appropriation Bill as passed by the National Assembly. We want to stress that if the budget figure was increased and made to be different from what the Executive proposed, it was the National Assembly that jacked it up in exercise of its power of appropriation.

On the uncharitable claim that the 2024 budget was anti-Nort

Sultan of Sokoto announces date to look out for 2024 Ramadan moon in Nigeria

The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), under the leadership of its President-General and Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has urged Muslims across the country to look for the 2024 (1445 AH) Ramadan moon from Sunday.

The NSCIA also called on Muslim faithfuls who have credible sighting of the crescent to inform members of the National Moon Sighting Committee.

Prof. Salisu Shehu, the Deputy Secretary General of NSCIA, said this on Friday in a statement.

According to him, Sultan Abubakar felicitates with the entire Muslim Ummah on the auspicious occasion of the forthcoming 1445 AH Ramadan Fast.

The council prays that Allah spare the life of every Muslim to participate in the ibaadah exercise and to maximise the benefits therein.

He also cited a verse of the Glorious Qur’an that the month of Ramadan (is that) in which was revealed the Qur’an, is a guidance for mankind and clear proof of the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong).

“So, whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of) the month (of Ramadan i.e. present at his home), he must observe fasting that month” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:185).

“Consequent upon the advice of the National Moon Sighting Committee (NMSC), the President-General enjoins the Nigerian Muslim Ummah to search for the crescent of Ramadan 1445 AH immediately after sunset on Sunday, 10th March 2024 which is equivalent to 29th Sha’aban 1445 AH.

“If the crescent is sighted by Muslims of impeccable character on the said evening, then His Eminence (Sultan) would declare Monday, 11th March 2024 as the first day of Ramadan 1445 AH. If, however, the crescent is not sighted that day, then, Tuesday, 12th March 2024, automatically becomes the first of Ramadan, 1445 AH,” Shehu said.

He also said that in the face of the current economic hardship, the council appeals to endowed Muslims in the country to extend.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has suspended the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) Managing Director, Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad and three others over alleged 1.2 billion fraud.

The suspension was announced on Thursday in a statement issued by the president’s special adviser on media and publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.

The three others suspended are: Olaniyi Alaba Netufo — Executive Director, Corporate Services; Barka Sajou — Executive Director, Technical Services; and Sa’adatu Balgore — Executive Director, Rural Electrification Fund (REF).

The statement further said the president has hereby appointed a new management team of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) in an acting capacity with immediate capacity.

The new appointees are; Abba Abubakar Aliyu — Managing Director/CEO; Ayoade Gboyega — Executive Director, Corporate Services; Umar Abdullahi Umar — Executive Director, Technical Services; Doris Uboh — Executive Director, Rural Electrification Fund (REF); and Olufemi Akinyelure — Head of Project Management Unit, Nigeria Electrification Project

President Bola Tinubu expects all appointees in his administration to uphold the highest standards of transparency and accountability in the discharge of their duties and reiterates his determination to elevate the yearnings of Nigerians for good governance and qualitative service delivery above the narrow interests of individuals who are entrusted to provide critical services to the Nigerian people.

Recall that the senior officials in the agency have been enmeshed in allegations of corruption that threaten the ability of the oft-troubled agency to achieve its purpose of providing electricity to rural communities,

Two anti-corruption agencies, the EFCC and ICPC, are currently probing the allege.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has demanded N794,000 as the new national minimum wage for workers in Lagos, Oyo, and other South West states.

The chairperson of NLC in Lagos State, Funmi Sessi, made the demand on Thursday at the ongoing public hearing of the Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage in Ikeja.

Sessi disclosed that the demand was jointly agreed on by all the members of the union in the Southwest.

Speaking at the hearing of the committee, which was held in Yola, the Adamawa state capital, Joe Ajaero, the president of the NLC, called for a market survey before the workers would reach a consensus on the new minimum wage.

Meanwhile, governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the setting up of the Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage.

Bala Mohammed who was in Yola on Thursday, March 7, for the north-east zonal public hearing of the committee, said the committee is a bold step towards addressing the nation’s wage policy need.

“We praise Tinubu for the courage to set up this committee. Not many will accept this as a task that must be done,” the Bauchi state governor said at the event in the Banquet Hall of the Government House Yola.

He said mass suffering is a clear reality and that a realistic minimum wage is a vital way to minimise it.
