Dear parents!

Even If you have a house helps, teach your children it's their responsibility to clear the table and return their plates to kitchen themselves after they've eaten, whether individually or otherwise. There's no point letting the househelp do everything just because you're paying them while your own children are missing out on an important and critical life lessons on responsibility and what of you.

Sometimes the 'aunty' is too careful to clean up before you return from work lest you quarrel her when you find some dishes undone but you need to change that stupid way of going about teaching your children the wrong way...

moreso when your kids are home- make it clear to them that if one of them leaves a utensil unattended the other one shouldn't. House helps shouldn't become a shield for them, because that home is the only training ground for your children before they face the world and the learning time is very short.

Teach them to make their beds, mop and arrange their rooms. Even three year olds are capable of putting their dirty clothes in the laundry basket at least, and to put away their toys after playing.
