TUESDAY OF SECOND WEEK OF ADVENT (feast of our Lady of Guadalupe)
Luke 1:26-38

One of the most beautiful words I have heard.
“You can’t hide grace”

Grace is something given or bestowed not to be hidden but to blossom and let others partake of it.

Today’s gospel(Luke 1:26-38)
takes us back to the encounter between the Angel Gabriel
and our Blessed mother.
Watch the angels words
“Hail Mary
full of grace,
you have found favor with God”

Today we celebrate the feast of our lady of Guadalupe.
One beautiful thing our lady does through these apparitions,
is to remind or open us up to the limitless grace and favors she has recieved from God.
Yes those very words of the Angel Gabriel are no fluke.

Like Mary said to Juan,
in that apparition,
she is merciful and loving
and her beautiful shoulders and embrace are there for us to lean on.

Think about it today.
Has your God given grace been devoid of love and mercy.
A lot of times,
God’s favor and grace enters our hands and we turn to demigods.

We can learn from our mother Mary.
As we learn,
we also learn to fly to her patronage…

If everything is alright for you
and you thank God,
don’t be too relaxed about it!
You are just lucky to be amongst the few whose light is shining in this country!

If there are things you can do to help change the system,
do it!
If you find yourself in the position to speak for the poor,
speak for them!
If you have the opportunity to bring people up,
bring them up!

The white man is ahead of us in this regard!

Those amongst them living and doing well are never relaxed about it!
They keep looking for ways to change the system for the betterment of all!

The black man chops and cleans mouths and every other person can go to hell!

Don’t be scared to tell your spouse what you think they should work on!

Your wife is getting fat which you don’t like!
Simply remind her of the need to keep fit!
If there are medical conditions that lead to it, fine, you both discuss it!

Someone out there is scared of cautioning his wife owing to the fear of being tagged ‘body shaming’
Gradually you will begin losing interest in her and you will end up regretting not discussing it with her!

Same with the woman!
Tell your man what is unbecoming of a husband he’s doing!
In a respectful manner!
He suddenly drinks a lot!
Keep late at night!
Odour!

These things are better discussed than ignored!

It’s not just about Dorsey,
but Musk, Zuckerberg and Gates too!
They all have one thing in common!
The simplicity in their dressing code!

The rich ones do not need to dress rich to prove anything!
They know they are rich!

The ones who do not have much are mostly the ones who stress themselves to dress rich to prove one point!
That they are rich!

WENESDAY OF THE SECOND WEEK OF ADVENT
Mathew 11:28-30

Today’s gospel Jesus says “come to me all you who labor and are overburdened and I will give you rest”

Burdens, labor and yokes are part of life and Jesus is not promising us a labor or yoke free Christian life!

Instead he says “take my yoke upon you”

His yoke is light and easy and he himself is meek and humble of heart!

The point is,
most of the burden and yoke and labor we carry that tends to over weigh us,
are burdens we encounter as a result of our decisions to distance ourselves from Jesus!

When we begin to obey that invitation “to come to him”
Full heartedly!
It is then we begin to drop
our loads of worldly desires and take up his yoke of Contentment!
Hatred becomes a thing of the past because we have taken the yoke of love!
Pride and envy disappears because he has given us a counter yoke of humility and meekness!
Then rest sets in!

Little wonder St Augustine said “our souls will never rest untill it rests in the Lord!!!

10/12/2024

In life, sometimes the ones most broken from inside are the ones who are willing to help others who need it as they know what true pain and hurt feels like.

10/12/2024

I come into your house and you have an unchained big dog and ferocious breed for that matter and you tell me “come in fada, it is lovely, harmless, sweet, loving and sweet pet”

I may respectably come in especially in the case of sick call but the moment I step out of that compound I will think twice before coming again!

And when I begin to think twice about something,
e no dey too smooth!!!

Chain your dogs!!!

LET US PRAY

Father we come to you this morning with our mouth full of thanks and praise!
Without your grace we are nothing!

We present our lives to you this day,
our going out and coming back,
our dealings and hustles,
our thoughts words and actions,
Father may you sanctify and bless them all!

May our lives this day be grace and favor filled!
No disappointment or failure!

May you Angels lead us!

Through Christ our Lord!
Amen!

Adam where are you?

Adam: I heard your footsteps so I hid in fear for I am naked!

Who told you,
that you are naked!!

Who told you you are naked?
Who told you you are worthless?
Who told you you are useless?
Who told you you are a failure?
Who told you you can’t make it?

TUESDAY OF THE SECOND WEEK OF ADVENT
Mathew 18:12-14

On today’s gospel,
St Hilary says
“The owner of the sheep is Jesus!
The 99 is the host of angels and saints in heaven!
The one lost sheep is humanity!

This gospel reminds us again of how very special we are to Jesus!
Even in our sins and transgressions!
Jesus left everything on the the hill to get us back!

In the same way!
Today we take pride in so many ways in moving on from the one lost sheep!
We take pride in sticking just with the 99 around us!
We condemn the one who has gone astray!
Jesus is aswell asking us “where is that one sheep”

The one sheep,
might be the friend, brother, sister, son or daughter you have abandoned and seen as prodigal!

At the mass of the Immaculate conception with the new cardinals,
the Pope Francis threw light on the humility of the our blessed mother Mary,
which he says is very important in the modern day mission of the church!!!

Seriously I for one,
can’t think of the mission of the church without humility!
Especially as a priest!

Not just the priest but every faithful who has dedicated his or herself to serve in one way or the other!!!

Yesterday at two goals down,
Chelsea’s Spanish left back cucurella did something few expected!

Cucurella changed his playing boots!

Before then he had slipped twice!
Each slip came with goal!
Causing his team two costly goals!

Everyone spitted and caused him!
No one knew what he was going through!
He was a contender for player of the season for Chelsea with numerous beautiful performances so far!

Then came the moment he changed the boots!
Perhaps his performance steadied!
The slipping ended!
He was not actually the problem!
The boots were!
There was something wrong with them!

A lot of times we are like Cucu yesterday!
We suddenly begin to slip!
We keep going down!

The worse is,
people don’t want to care what we going through at these moments!

No one cares about our other nor previous good performances!

Sliping is by the way a part of life!
A process many go through!
Getting up is what only a few do!

You have your world in your hands!
No one these days cares about our excuses!
Change something!

We need to arrest further slips!
If there’s something we need to change!
Change it!
The playing boot here may be a character!
Emotional problem!
Guilt of past mistakes!
Broken trust!
Friends!
Circle!

People don’t just slip!
There’s something making them slip!
Cucu immidiately found his!
I and you can detect ours!

When you do!
Pull it out!
Change it!

As soon as possible!

SOLEMNITY OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION Genesis 3:9-15,20
Eph 1:3-6,11-12
Luke 1:26-38

The solemnity of the Immaculate conception,
tells us of the birth process of our blessed mother Mary!

She was conceived and preserved from original sin!

It was for a reason!
She was going to have one of the biggest future!
Yes as the angel said “blessed among all women”

Mary would go on to be the mother of our savior Jesus!
The holiest of holies!
It would only be beautiful,
that she who was to conceive and bear the savior is her self,
preserved and conceived with out sin!

WHAT DO WE LEARN

We must let God to finish what he has started with us!
Mary allowed God to finish the divine grace,
he bagan in her through the immaculate conception by that one singular response “may it be done to me according your words”

In this response she totally gave her all to God!
She gave in to the divine plan!

Secondly she preserved her grace!
There are a lot of God bestowed graces humanity has failed to preserve!
Our blessed mother was not only conceived without sin but she maintained her self in that virtue,
remaining a virgin,
concieving herself by the Holy Spirit!

Finally,
there are those little things in our lives right now,
that are only signs of greater divine responsibility!

God has a plan for us!
He is never relenting!
Even when things get bad,
like in the case of the first woman,
God keeps on improvising,
to keep up to his plan!
The only thing we owe him,
is to let ourselves be carriers of the Holy Spirit!
The carriers of Jesus!

Mary taught the world,
how to carry Jesus,
through the doubts,
the pains,
denials,
trying moments and
tragedy!

SECOND SUNDAY OF ADVENT
Baruch 5:1-9
Phil 1:4-6,8-11
Luke 3:1-6

A father was pained about his sons shenanigans!
The boy won’t change and was equally rude!
So he decided to send him on exile,
to live with his very wicked friend who had bitter records of mistreating other people’s children!
One month into the boy’s stay at his father’s friend’s place,
he called his family in tears requesting to come home!
His dad made him stay for another two months before giving in to his demands to come pick him!
He narrated to his son,
how this very particular move was to help bring him back to his senses!

This encounter between the father, his son and the wicked friend is the exact picture of Israel’s encounter or experience from the first reading!

Israel is that son that keeps proving stubborn in sin against the father!
God the father allows them to be conquered and thus sent into exile!
The go through excruciating pain and calls on God’s mercy!
Today’s first reading from the book of Baruch is a response from God,
promising to redeem them!
To gather them back from where they have been scattered in exile!
Exile here becomes an instrument of God’s recompense!

The advent here becomes a period we anxiously and prepare for Jesus to redeem and gather us back from our exiles!

ADVENT, CHRISTMASS AND THE EXILIC SYMBOLISM
Early and mid December falls during the advent season!
January to the end of November,
everyone is scattered in different towns in the exiles of their lives in hustle for a living!
December we return from our exiles and different towns back to our hometown and villages!

Physically,
what brings us back is the December celebration but spiritually it is Christ the Savior gathering us from our different exiles!
In the process,
bringing back joy and happiness to our lives,
we forget our pains during the year!

MISSION OF JESUS
The mind of God through the words of the prophet Baruch is the mission of Jeusus!
The mission to gather and bring us all back from our spiritual, physical and mental exiles!

THE MISSION OF CHRIST’S FAITHUL
The mission of Christ’s faithful is the center of the advent season!
The misssion to prepare for the savior!
The mission to prepare and open our hearts to be accessible to the redemptive work of Jesus!
The redemptive work of bringing us all back
From our exiles!
Little wonder the prodigal son exclaimed
“I am not worthy to be called your son,
rather treat me as one of your servants”
A servant is more open to orders and commands than biological sons!

BAPTISM OF REPENTANCE AND FORGIVENESS
John’s mission in today’s gospel was to proclaim the baptism of repentance and forgiveness!
A sort of preparation for the coming of Jesus!
Why?
Because we are drown and consumed in two exiles!
The exile of sin and unforgiveness!

Jesus seeks to bring us back from our exiles of sin, just like the Israelites was to be brought back today!
A lot of times we feel we are too engraved in sin to be forgiven!
Peter must have thought so,
little wonder he cried endlessly!
Judas thought so and ended his life!
To this the words of God through the prophet Baruk becomes a consolation!

Secondly the exile of unforgiveness!
The Christmass many will come back from their township exiles,
still harboring the hatred they had for each other the last time they met last Christmas!
Just like the man who on returning from town,
back to the village form Christmas with his new G-wagon car,
packed in front of his supposed enemy’s house!
He kept playing loud songs for several minutes at that very point,
just to remind his enemy he just bought a car which he himself will never or can afford!

To this St Paul prayed for wisdom on the Philippian church for knowledge on them so that they could be able to decipher and discern what is of value!

What is of value during this period is not the celebrations we will have but the enchanting love and forgiveness that opens amd prepares our heart for Jesus!

FINALLY
The word of the Lord came to John in the desert!

During this advent season,
there are words from our redeemer hoping and clamoring to come to you and I!
We ask ourselves,
what is this the Lord Jesus wants to tell us this season!
That particular message of repentance!
What particular thing about our life does Jesus want us to change or repent from!

And what desert do we need to be in,
that we may hear clearly!
This season is the season of not just the wild places of celebration but the calm and desert places of recollection for effective preparation!

Two years ago,
I accompanied a friend priest to his hometown during Christmas!
His dad was to be honored in their community and the next day would be the thanksgiving mass!

That evening something strange or funny happened!

I and this priest were outside chatting with a relation who also returned for same event!
Our discussion was at a point being disturbed by this raging and endless wild sound of music from close range!
It was as if a wild gen-z party was going on!

Scanning my eyes meticulously around,
left and right,
I noticed it came from this beautiful black colored G-Wagon Benz parked opposite us and directly in front of a compound!

At a point I thought the compound belonged to the Benz owner!

I proceeded to mind my business!
Make everybody go warm eba chop!

Then that night I overheard some voice raising from the palour,
next our room!

On asking my friend,
he said it was the owner of that compound!
He came to report to his dad!

So it happened that he was in enmity with the benz owner!’
Therefore the Benz owner only packed there with that level of noise making sound from his music,
just to remind his enemy and the family that he has returned home for Christmas!
Not just that!
He has bought another car!
Not just that!
This time around it is a G-Wagon Benz!

And the person the Benz owner told and still told not tell anyone just called to tell him that his enemy the Benz owner,
said he and his family will and can never afford a G-Wagon Benz in their lives!

I felt bad about the whole thing!
Why?

Christmas was meant to be a period of relaxation and joy!
Not competition and opening of old wounds!
I wish we would understand this!

Home should be a place,
where we come back to retire to our most natural and default zone,
or state of nature,
the Stoics most desired atmosphere!

I hope this Christmas won’t be your time to pepper your enemy but to make peace!
Eat together!
Drink together!

Abeg lemme go and finish warming my EBA
