H.E. BAO, early this evening walked into the Jara Shopping mall, located inside the Obafemi Awolowo Civic and Convention Center, Fajuyi area, Ado Ekiti, accompanied by some top government officials, including the Deputy Governor, Speaker of the EKHA and SSG. The Governor and the top officials left the Fajuyi Pavilion, venue of the presentation of Armoured Personnel Carriers and other operational vehicles, gadgets to the Nigeria Police. The Governor not only did a little shopping, he also ensured that everyone around pick something from the mall and have the cost added to his bill.

Tinubu asks Senate to confirm Service Chiefs

President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday urged the Senate to confirm his nominees for appointment as Service Chiefs.
Tinubu’s letter of request was read at plenary by Senate President Godswill Akpabio on the floor during plenary.

The Service Chiefs for screening and confirmation by the Senate include Major General Christopher Musa as Chief of Defence Staff; Major Taoreed Lagbaja as Chief of Army Staff; Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla as Chief of Naval Staff and Air Vice Marshall Hassan Abubakar as Chief of Air Staff.

Akpabio said since the relevant Standing Committees of the Senate are not in place yet, the Service Chiefs would be screened by the Committee of the Whole of the Senate.

The Ekiti Development and Investment Promotion Agency (EKDIPA) team, headed by its Director-General, Ayo Aribidara, along with other stakeholders, paid a visit to the Obafemi Awolowo Civic Center in Ado-Ekiti. The purpose of the visit was to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the level of remodeling work being carried out at the facility and to evaluate the progress made in anticipation of the official handover of the facility to the concessionaire.

The Obafemi Awolowo Civic Center is a landmark facility that will provide visitors with a 360-degree experience, offering a wide range of amenities. These include a mega-store outlet, cinemas, food courts, cafes, entertainment centers, events halls, banks, a museum, and other related facilities. The completion of this project is imminent, and it is expected to contribute significantly to the growth of Ekiti State's tourism ecosystem.

OYEBANJI APPOINTS EIGHT SPECIAL ADVISERS

In a bid to position the administration for excellent service delivery, Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has appointed eight Special Advisers, to play some strategic roles in the government.
The new Special Advisers who are cabinet ranked are:
1. Mr Niyi Adebayo (Budget, Economic Planning and Performance Management)
2. Mrs Tayo Adeola (Investment, Trade and Idustry)
3. Mr Ebenezer Boluwade (Agriculture and Food Security)
4. Dr (Mrs) Kofoworola Olabimpe Aderiye ( Education, Science and Technology)
5. Chief Jide Awe (Political and Inter Party Affairs)
6. Architect Tope Ogunleye (Bureau of Special Projects)
7. Mr Seun Fakuade (Governance, Reforms and Innovation)
8. Mr Yinka Oyebode (Media and Strategy/ CPS)
Governor Oyebanji, urged the new appointees to see their appointments as an opportunity to contribute their time, talent and expertise to the overall development of the State.
The new Special Advisers will be sworn-in on Friday, November 18, 2022.
Meanwhile, Brigadier-General Ebenezer Ogundana (rtd) has been re-appointed as Security Adviser to the Governor with immediate effect.

*Oyebanji presides over inaugural executive council meeting*

…urges members to prioritize state interest

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, on Monday presided over the inaugural meeting of the State's Executive Council with a charge to members to put the interest of the State above personal interest and other considerations.

The meeting which took place at the EXCO Chamber, Governor's Office, Ado Ekiti, had in attendance, the Deputy Governor, Chief ( Mrs) Monisade Afuye; who is the deputy chairman and other appointees.

Briefing Journalists at the end of the meeting, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Yinka Oyebode, said the inaugural meeting which came barely 16 days after the swearing-in of Governor Oyebanji, featured administration of oaths for the new members- Dr ( Mrs ) Habibat Adubiaro ( Secretary to the State Government) and Mr Dayo Apata, (Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice).

"Thereafter, the meeting took and approved the presentation on the 2022-2025 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF)." he said

Oyebode disclosed that the MTEF which is a three year plan, is spread across the six pillars of the administration mamely: Governance; Agric and Rural Development; Human Capital Development; Infrastructure and Industrialization; Youth Development and Job Creation; and Art, Culture and Tourism.

He disclosed further that the approval of the MTEF by Council would be followed by the presentation of the 2023 budget to the state Assembly.

“It is recalled that the new administration was inaugurated on October 16th. Some appointments have been made into the cabinet. The cabinet will expand as the Governor make more appointments ." Oyebode said.

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayodele Fayose, on Monday paid a courtesy visit to the incumbent Governor of the State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, in his office in Ado-Ekiti.

Fayose said he was in the office on a congratulatory visit to Gov. Oyebanji who was inaugurated on October 16th, and to also express his condolences on the passing of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Funminiyi Afuye.

Gov Biodun Oyebanji lifts embargo on State Accounts

The Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has lifted the embargo placed on state government accounts with immediate effect.

All accounting officers and financial institutions are urged to note the new directive which supersedes the order freezing the State government accounts as announced on October 16, 2022.
