Tweeps Mourn Medical Doctor Killed In Abuja-Kaduna Train Terror Attack

Some tweeps are mourning the death of a medical doctor, Chinelo Megafu, who died from injuries sustained during the terror attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train late Monday.

Chinelo had tweeted during the attack, saying she had been shot and asked for prayers.

She tweeted, “I’m on the train. I have been shot. Please pray for me.”

A colleague of hers, Dr Michael Ajidahun better known as The Bearded Dr Sina on Twitter shared the sad news of her death.

He said, “My friend just woke up to losing a close friend who was shot at the Abuja Kaduna train incident by terrorists. She tweeted yesterday that we should pray for her. Sadly she didn't make it. She was a Doctor. Nigeria why...I'm heartbroken.”

Speaking with PUNCH Online, Dr Sina said that the victim died at the hospital where she was taken to.

He said, "She studied Dentistry. She was travelling in the Abuja-Kaduna train and had tweeted that she had been shot but some people thought she was tweeting for clout.

"A mutual friend, who is a doctor at the hospital where she was taken to confirmed she had died this morning."

Tweeps have expressed their grief at the death of the doctor.

Jamila Motunrayo tweeted, “The first tweet I saw this morning. May her soul Rest In Peace.”

Chance said, “She only asked for prayers. Prayers and what most could offer was abuses or calling her a liar. May her soul rest in peace.”

Cross tweeted, "Rest In Peace doc. Only God know the pain you were in while tweeting this. Nigeria happened again.”

Segun Precious said, “Rest in Peace, Chinelo. Nigeria happened to you!”

Jowo lamented how human life had ceased to have value in the country. She said, “The fact that human life is not worth more than a domestic animal these days, is a testament to how we've failed as a country and as a people. The news of death no longer hits as hard as it used to, it's become a norm these days. Rest in peace Chinelo.”

Ekiti Guber: Akerele assures PDP members of equal treatment, urges greater unity

The Director General of the Bisi Kolawole Campaign Organization (BKCO), Otunba Yinka Akerele has urged all members of the People's Democractic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State to close ranks and work together for the victory of the party in the June 18 governorship election.

Akerele assured that no member of the party will be discriminated against on the account of affiliation to other aspirants before the primary election that produced Hon. Bisi Kolawole as the party's candidate.

A release on Thursday, by the BKCO Spokesperson, Lere Olayinka, said Akerele spoke in Ado Ekiti, while addressing PDP Ward Managers from Ekiti West, Irepodun/Ifelodun, Efon, Ijero, Ekiti East, Gbonyin, Emure and Ise/Orun Local Governments.

The Director General said those chosen as Ward Managers should see themselves as foot-soldiers of the party.

"I don't know what our leader, His Excellency Ayo Fayose saw in Bisi Kolawole, but I am convinced that it is a divine call and the same God that remembered Bisi Kolawole and made him our party's candidate will remember all of us for good.

"I am ready to work myself out because it is when Bisi Kolawole emerges as governor that myself and all of you here can benefit. By the grace of God, we will not be found wanting when he (Kolawole) becomes governor.

"The job we are giving you to do is strategic and you were chosen because of your proven commitment, honesty and dedication to the party, I urge you to carry out this assignment diligently.

"For me, my family and loved ones, we are ready to do everything humanly possible to ensure the emergence of Bisi Kolawole as governor of Ekiti State and God will do it," Akerele told the Ward Managers.
